What?? Page two? That is no good.

Happy Wednesday and happy another new month.

QOTD for July 1. What do you usually do July 4th and what are you doing this year?

We usually go to a parade, out to lunch then maybe a cookout with family. Local fireworks. This year, there is a concert online at the National Cathedral Saturday morning I'll try to watch. Then DD and family are coming for a cookout Sunday as she has plans with friends Saturday. DS works both days. No parades and no local fireworks, except the loud ones in the neighborhood nearly every night.

when the kids were little, we would go watch fireworks and hang out. This year, it'll be whatever fireworks we can see from the balcony and on tv.

We normally go see fireworks (which DH could take or leave, but DS and I love). This year, DH and I will be staying home, and DS volunteered to work for the the overtime. Maybe we'll watch Hamilton, or I'll find some YouTube videos of old Disney fireworks shows.

I've heard a few booms lately that I think were people setting off their own fireworks, but nothing I could actually see from the house, and nothing that lasted very long. - Law enforcement is really cracking down on it around here.

When the kids were little we took them to the town's annual parade. We only had to walk down to the end of our street so it was easy. We also would do a cookout. Now that we are empty nesters we usually do the cookout for the 2 of us. However, this year we are going to our youngest grandson's 2nd birthday party. It will be in the backyard with just family. He will be 2 on the 6th but the party is on the 4th. It will be nice to see all 5 grandkids play together. We are doing our cookout on the 5th. I hope everyone has a great and safe 4th of July.

I've heard for the last week usually around 9pm a few fireworks set off. I have read that it's been a problem out here.

Hug, a pirateslifeforme, I am sorry your mom both had that experience and that she chose to be angry at you. I do hope she enjoys her time with other family.

Sparkle, a picnic and cornhole (that's sort of like a bean bag toss right)? sounds fun to me :)

Aww, Happy 2nd birthday to your Grandson, Snowysmom.

Prayers everyone who does enjoy fireworks will get to safely view this year :)

Happy Wednesday and happy another new month.

QOTD for July 1. What do you usually do July 4th and what are you doing this year?

Same as every year since we have lived here.
Family comes over for grilling, pool time and fireworks.
That's a lot less than we used to do in WA.

Just back from an almost 2.5 mile hike. I am sweaty and dusty and ready for a shower. Sitting on the screen porch waiting for a thunderstorm to pass by.

You are so right, Breezy Carol, thank you for bringing this thread back up where it belongs :)
Hey, we are friends now. You can just call me Carol.

@apirateslifeforme, we have had multiple EZpasses over the years with 4 cars. Apparently the batteries last about 10 years. I have replaced a few of the transponders.

We have been having nightly noise making fireworks for 2-3 weeks now. No pretty shows, just dog scaring noise. One reason I am glad not to have a dog right now.

We usually are in WDW, and watch the 3rd of July fireworks from BLT, and then on the 4th we go into Epcot!

Last year was special on the 3rd because our DS and DGD(14) came by and watched them with us. We had not seen them for 2+ years, so it was a great reunion! Later last year, we wound up seeing the whole family, again at WDW.

This year we will be home. We have Gus in a kennel for the weekend. Plenty of folks will be setting off firecrackers around here, and Gus is afraid of the noise.

Bumping this up to wish everyone sweet dreams :) My new phone came from Wal-Mart. I will activate it in the morning and share how I like it :)

Other Wednesday gratitude:

Kind offers from a couple friends when they next go to Wal-Mart to look for a Wal-Mart only item for me that is not available online.

That my Dad was able to drop off at a local thrift store (he called first) donations of clothes and books. Thankful to know they will now be used rather than sitting around in bags here.

Related to the above, I tried on a few tops I used to wear to church and wow did it feel good to see how huge they were. I included them in the donation.

Sleep well everyone. "see" you in the morning :)

Just got back from Costco. They were well stocked, got some salmon for dinner.
July 4th we are usually home. I enjoy the day, we like to watch the televised fireworks. Well before Covid we learned to avoid crowds, it's easier on the hubs.
I am looking forward to Hamilton on Disney+. The show came here last year and we enjoyed it.

Today I am doing some more arranging, clearing out. So I better get to it.
Wishing you all a good day! :flower:

I hope everyone is staying cool on this hot Thursday. We are currently sitting at 92, when they said we would be 84, lol. Weatherman=wrong again. Thankful today that hubby was able to go for bloodwork at the local lab, and we were the only ones in there. In and out in 10 minutes. He's had all but 1 of his Drs appts (PCP next Wed), and all tests are done. Grateful today for air conditioning , I couldn't stand this heat without it. I just went out to the garden to check on things, and it was so hot I had to come back in. Going to do errands and grocery shopping tomorrow, since they get the paid holiday tomorrow as well as Saturday! Have a lovely evening everyone, I plan on chilling and doing nothing!

I hope you are having a lovely day Gwynne and everyone else on here too :)

Keep Cool, Lynxstch 🐧that heat sounds awful. So glad all went well for your husband :)

Time of month decided to once again come earlier than normal this morning :P Headachy, yuck. It was fun to talk with a friend on my new phone. Not so fun lol adding in all my contacts but hey it is a Blessing to have a phone again. So far it works fine. The only thing is the font size of names is rather small. I thought I had adjusted that but will have to go back and see. I need to check out the camera.

Grateful also this Thursday for:

Couches to rest on :)
A sweet text
A nice Amazon customer service representative

That sounds like a lovely Thursday, Carol :)

Quick phone questions: Do any of you have a Motorola? I have the Moto E5 Go. On startup, a creepy-ish voice says "hello moto." Is there a way to turn this off? I did Google and read something about finding the "App Drawer" and then turning it off that way. What in the world is an "App drawer?"

Second question is the new phone like the old Galaxy still has the text message time issue. (Phone indicates a text was received while it was turned off at the time I next turn the phone on not when it was actually sent). I know with the old phone some of you said that could be a battery/wiring issue....I did Google the new and read that there might be a way to change the timestamp? This is not that big a deal just disappointing that a new phone would do this! I'd rather be done with the "hello moto!" Thank you as always!

🙏 all of you has a good night and Friday tomorrow.

The grounds guys have been doing yardwork the last couple days, and my allergies are kicking up something fierce. Serious sinus headache this am. :headache:

We went to Target, and found...hand sanitizer AND hand soap AND the holy grail....Lysol sanitizing wipes! party:They had a huge kiosk of the sanitizer and soap, and about 40 containers (75 wipe count) on a shelf in the cleaning section. Limit 3 on sanitizer/soap combined, and limit 1 on the wipes. I picked up a couple more small bottles of sanitizer and one of the wipes. They had plenty of tp and paper towels, but I didn't get any, as I have enough for a couple of months still. Picked up DGS#3's birthday presents for DD#2 to take with her when they leave (she is going from here to DD#1's house for 2 weeks, and they are celebraing DGS#3's 4th birthday while they are there). Got him 2 Lego sets, 2 books, 2 Paw Patrol toys and 2 Colorforms sets (Paw Patrol and Marvel).

DD, DGS and I also went to our favorite biscuit place for breakfast yesterday. First time I've eaten out since March. Lots of spacing, no one getting their own drinks, seemed safe. Had a Chicken BLT ranch biscuit....:woohoo: Also stopped at Jeremiah's and got a quart of the horchata ice/vanilla soft serve gelati for me (it'll last a few....um...days). ;) Got something for everyone, but the horchata is mine!!!!

DD#2 is doing better. She is still very sore and in pain from her chest and neck/shoulder. She is supposed to call about a follow up today, since she doesn't have a PCP to go see here. DSiL#2 is off training now, for his new role in the Marines; and they have their orders finally. Okinawa at the end of the year. I'm going to miss seeing/talking to DGS so much (he usually Facetimes me twice a day haha) so I'm taking advantage of them being here to spend as much time with him as possible (they leave early next week). I've been taking DGS to the pool every morning (too hot and rainy in the afternoons); trying to get him out of the arm float vest and into swimming. We made creme brulee for DD's bday. Also picked up dinner from our favorite Asian pho restaurant, now that they are back open for her day as well. 🥢

Hi and hug right back Gwynne, thank you so much for your kindness in finding that. I will try it and post back. Lol, yeah you really would not want to hear the "hello moto" voice!

Hug to you, too, Bianca and Bernard! Yay that you had some treats and fun. I remember Colorforms back in the dark ages lol. I don't remember what kind I had just that they were fun :) Cool they are still being made. Feel better, my friend!

Wishing all a good Friday.

Aww, cute, PollyannaMom! I had the Snoopy Sno Cone Machine! I loved that thing more for the cute Snoopy I think than the sno cones though those were fun too until the machine stopped working!

I think this is leading to a great question of the day! -

QOTD for 7/3 - What iconic toy of the era did you have as a child? or really want as a child, but your parents said no?
