Happy belated Birthday to your husband, Breezy Carol. I'm so glad to hear you both had a fun day yesterday :)

Good for you, Nycgrrl, cheering you on from the West Coast :)

Wednesday waving hi to everyone with lots of good wishes and prayer. Hope you are all having a good day. It's another hot day here. This morning I enjoyed talking with a couple times a friend who will be 97 next month! She had written a beautiful condolence letter to George Floyd's family and had asked for my help figuring out how to snail mail it. We did that and chatted, too :)

As it gets warmer I admit this time feels more endless. As I said to a few people yesterday, and may have even posted on here, it can also be strange to think back on the time before this all started because for better or worse it's sort of now routine. I continue, of course, to pray every day for a positive end in sight sooner than later! No matter what, I always know that the Light at the end (and throughout :)) the tunnel is Jesus. We are so Blessed indeed.

Other Wednesday positives:

My Dad found disinfecting wipes at Target. He also got some other things we needed. Later we ordered online at Target.com. Giving Target .com one more (non perishable try--remember my soup disaster)? As an FYI (I apologize for not remembering how long this promotion is for) Target.com through their Target Circle is offering 10% off sitewide. The only "catch" is that you are not able to stack it with any other offers (other than the Red card discount :))

So grateful to be starting to feel better from time of month. One positive of it coming early is that it leaves sooner. I am always thrilled for it to go far away :D

A sweet PM from a friend.

Any takers (or askers :D) of today's question?

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Now he is as old as I am. He loves for 109 days to call me the older woman.

I'll try again.

June 10 - QOTD - What is your favorite scent?

So many good one but my favorite is Coppertone suntan lotion. Soooo good. I have the Sun and Sand Yankee Candle that smells just like that.

My husband is 2 weeks and 2 days younger than me. During that time, he loves to remind me that I'm "older" and calls me a cougar  ;)

In summer, I'd have to second that. Nothing says summer like the smell of suntan lotion. I like coconut and ocean scents as well. And right now, I'm using Tropical Hibiscus-scented "Poo-pourri" (I love that stuff!).

In winter, however, I like pine-y scents, and my favorite Yankee Candle is the one that smells like vanilla and mint. I think it's the North Pole candle?

I may have mentioned it before, but I LOVE "Florida Sunshine." I seriously can smell a difference in the air there as opposed to up here in the north. And it's ONLY when we get to Florida...I don't smell it at all in South Carolina, in Georgia, not even really in the northern part of Florida. Only when we get to the middle part of the state, Orlando to Tampa to Clearwater. The scent there is completely different!

scent......so many good ones.......bread baking (actually most baked goods), chocolate,

I love the smell of citrus: Lemons and limes especially but oranges and grapefruit are good too. Bath and Body Works has a nice citrus body wash and cologne spray.

Today we are getting gifts ready for 2 of the grandkids' birthdays. Our middle grandson turned 3 in May and our oldest grandchild and granddaughter turns 5 on Friday. They are sister and brother. I can't believe it has been 5 years since I held my little newborn granddaughter and first grandchild. We did a Zoom party for the May birthday and I am guessing we will do the same for Friday. But we are going to drop off the gifts now that DS and DDIL are letting us play with the kids outside.

LOL at your husband calling you the older woman, at least he can say he's been with one? LOL!

Favorite scent--all time favorites have always been fresh lilacs or roses. For candles or wallflower scents, anything ocean related in the summer, things like mistletoe, peppermint, hot cocoa in the wintertime.
It was another hot, 90 degree day here, they said severe storms would cool things off. We had about a 15 minute shower, but it did at least drop the temp by about 12 degrees. Going to be a beautiful 78 degrees for the next few days, we'll take it!

Went to the first store today that wasn't making wearing a mask/face covering mandatory, yet most people were still wearing them. That will be the thing I am most looking forward to doing away with.
Glad to hear that everyone is doing well for the most part, I am still glad to see this thread still carrying on, it seems like it's been forever now! I look forward to reading everyone's replies, answers, and to hear about their days. So keep it up! God Bless everyone!

Re:Supermarket Sweep, I remember the name but not how it was played. Anyone watch Guy's Grocery Games on Food Network? At the end is a part that reminds me of Supermarket Sweep. I like of lot of the Food Network challenge shows.

I was thinking that too! My DH is a big fan of Guy's Grocery Games.

Mine calls me a cradle-robber for three months out the year!

Oh, so many good ones come to mind! I definitely agree with Christmastime smells, and I also love pink stargazer lilies and Cherry Almond hand cream.

Scents: For candles I mix it up with seasons. I love apple, sugar cookie, cinnamon for kitchen

I like clean cotton year round for my room.

For not candles: I like the smell of bleach, my dd hates to be around when I clean with it because less is not more with me,lol.

And never put like 2 car vent deodorant things in at the same time because less is more and the first few days wooo a little over powering

I also love the smell of Coppertone! Oddly enough, I'm NOT a fan of the Sun & Sand Yankee candle.
I do really like the Mountain Lodge scent, and the Bayberry & Pine scents.

But nothing beats the smell of the house on Thanksgiving day!

Twice a year a set aside a afternoon to carmelize a huge amount of onions, about 30 per batch. I freeze them in small amounts to use...I pick a day where I can have all the windows open and you can smell the yummy onions cooking as you walk up to the porch!

And lastly I would say the combination of diesel fuel and brackish or salt water. Reminds me of my childhood (spend a LOT of it on a boat!)

My favorite scent (thanks for asking the question, Breezy Carol), is chocolate chip cookies baking
Should have come to my house today, I baked Toll House Cookies. Gave over half away to the friend who gave us 26 paver blocks she was getting rid of.

Another smell I enjoy, and this might be a weird one, is the smell outside of the dryer vent.

Spring/summer: Lilacs (my current shampoo smell), honeysuckle, violets, lemon, bergamot

Fall/winter: pine, cinnamon, apple

Anytime: baking bread or cookies; clean linen, rain, babies

Had a Firehouse Sub for lunch, as I was out and about (post office, which was NOT a good time, then dropped DH's lab orders at Qwest so they could get them in the system and scheduled him an appointment, as they kept saying their 'lab-work computers' were down. :confused3 I am assuming they meant the fax or email, as they weren't able to get the orders either way, and they weren't taking walk-ins still, only appointments.

Dinner: Went with andouille sausage, jasmine rice, and black beans (seasoned with Penzey's Salsa Salad and Salsa y Pico), topped with corn mixed with lime juice, cojita cheese and some ground guajillo chili powder. Pretty darn good.

Hi all,

I hope everyone is doing well. I know we are all in various stages of opening up and it can be difficult. This area I am in with my SIL and kids is "hot spot" so really trying to be careful. I'm not going to be ugly but my SIL and I are so so different. SO DIFFERENT. I wasn't sure what to expect coming to stay but certainly not the way things have been happening. By Friday I may just take my chance with the plague. My BIL is feeling better but I imagine he isn't quite ready for his crew yet and he certainly can't be around the parents(kids grandparents) yet if they were to come over. I'm thinking maybe the grandparents can come over this weekend and I'll go home and my BIL can stay at my house too. How the crazy hell does someone think they are going to have 4 kids and not know how to cook?!/ Seriously..... I spend lot of time trying to count to 10. I have my nieces and nephews they are just alot. Matt and I had been talking about taking the oldest down with us for a few days when new baby gets here but she doesn't appreciate rules and structure very well so maybe not. Maybe we will just go stay up there and try to help out the best we can.

My mom is sick but the nursing home says her lungs are clear and it's just sinus problems. I'm trying to not freak out and keep it under wraps. I talked to my mama today and she still doesn't know about the other cases in nursing home so that's good I think. I started my online classes this week so I have something to keep me occupied at night when I start to worry too much.

Gratitude:
Beautiful nieces and nephews
My mom still safe and healthy as she can be
Blessed to have this time to take classes and be with family as needed

Favorite smells: My mushy answer is my husband. When he would be deployed I'd spray just teeny tiny aftershave/cologne on his pillow.
I love the smell of honeysuckle or especially rain in the summer. (this might be a southern thing...) When stressed I have lavender pillow spray that is helpful for relaxing.

:lovestruc

Satsuma
Peppermint
Contemporary Concourse
Polynesian
Bakery
Pine grove
Ocean
Wood burning fireplace
My perfume
Puppy scent
Rose
Incense
Dove soap
Garlic cooking/North End
After a rainstorm

Most of these scents are associated with good memories for me. I’m sure there are more. Good question!

DS bought us all Disney scents for our cars, I have one hanging in there now I think it is Norway lol

I couldn't quite give up my perfume collection when I adopted "minimalism. My excuse was I paid for them and would continue until finished;).

My everyday scent is Philosophy's Amazing Grace. DGD and I vie to see who can use the 3 in 1 product first; she wins hands down. She frequently buys it as a present for me than uses it all up, LOL. I keep a smaller bottle hidden from her so we don't fight;).

Thierry Mugler's Angel is my general going out scent.

When I have a business meeting or interview it's a range of Chanel scents that I go to with no.19 or Cristalle being the first I tend to put my hands on. I never use no. 5 since that was my mother's signature scent. Love/d her but it just seems weird smelling like her.

For date night type moments it's Vivienne Westwood's Boudier.

I love to scent the house with floral notes with hints of citrus. Winter time I use Pomegranate from Homescents and when the warmer weather hits I switch to Mint and Citrus by Nest.

I adore the scents of spices and herbs and what a surprise find it an important aspect of cooking, LOL. I don't like the smell of most cloth washing products. Makes me feel like I'm an unpaid advertiser for Tide, et al.

Good Morning Everyone :) I hope you all got some good rest last night and of course have a Blessed Thursday, too.

In my recent early Summer paring down of pictures and other scrapbook stuff, I got to thinking about collections. How about today's question being what do you collect currently or what did you (or even your kids if you are a parent) collect growing up? Thought this might be fun :) I have always been a fan of stickers! I am not sure I have ever collected them though I did have the popular of the day sticker album back in the day (I admit to still not understanding it's purpose since once you unpeel a sticker even sticking it a supposed sticker friendly page (album) it's not the same (looses stickiness). I am old fashioned and love friendly snail mail so I do enjoy using stickers to personalize cards and notes.

Growing up, I think what I had most of (besides maybe stuffed animals) were erasers! Don't remember how that started but I sure did have a lot :) I also collected some series books that looking back wish I had held onto.

So what do you/did you collect? I pray this question of the day brings back some positive memories for all :)

My question for the day at the end of this post!!

Temps have cooled down considerably here since yesterday, when it was almost 90, today its a cloudy, breezy 73 so far. Some yardwork got done, waiting till Saturday to mow, since they are calling for rain next week 4 days out of 5. Quick check of the garden showed me a lot more flowers on the tomato plants and the beans are starting to develop their vining quality. Squash and cukes are growing nicely also. All of my flowers are really taking off, a good dose of Miracle Grow on the wave petunias have made them start waving like crazy! I just finished vacuuming the cellar, taking stock of what is left in my 'pandemic' supply area. Good on TP for at least another few months, haven't even opened 1 pkg that I stocked up on when this started, lol. Lots of paper towels still down there, as well as disinifecting cleaner. My "Chewy" supply of canned cat food has gone down considerably since my last autoship , which was in March. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and do one for July. I have plenty of bird seed and dry cat food for another few months, as well as 40 lb boxes of litter. I am wondering if I should just keep stocking up on all of this stuff in case of a 'second wave'-

I think I will make that my question of the day. How many of you are going to keep on stocking up just in case? Or are you going to wait till things return to a more 'normal' and then decide?

I hope everyone has a lovely day today, take time to stop and smell a flower, or laugh at a silly joke, take time to watch the sun rise, or the sun set, or just sit and enjoy a rain shower without talking or looking at your phones--you'd be surprised how good it can make you feel!

You beat me to the question flyingdumbo127, so we can have at least 2 of them today! I like yours better than mine though!

I didn't collect anything when I was growing up. My kids were big Star Wars toys collectors when they were younger.. I am a Disney collector of course. It started with collectible Disney Barbies, then I moved onto Snowglobes and music boxes. After I moved to MD and married my now husband of almost 20 years, it became Disney Patriotic Beanies, and then Disney Pins. No idea what we are going to do with all of them, as we are getting older, and none of the kids or grandkids are interested in the least. I keep a few snowglobes on a stand in our bedroom, and the patriotic beanies are all on a shelf in the computer room, but everything else is in boxes in the cellar. I read another post that reminded me, (my old mind apparently forgot), that I collected Hallmark Ornaments for about 35 years. Disney mostly, but lots of others-snowmen, Wizard of Oz, Puppy Love (man that series went on forever!).I could have decorated 5 or 6 trees with all the ornaments I had. I went thru them a few years ago, and gave a lot of them to the grandkids, and put others aside for 'great grandkids' which I hope to live to see!
