I love the cart analogy. Very true. One of the really painful parts of booking today is when someone calls and the CM grabs something to hold it for the caller, the person may change their dates. It's literally a refresh game on availability. In the past, I have been on the phone with a CM where they couldn't find my dates. I refreshed online and found the exact dates. The CM said that wasn't possible, so I booked it on my own. It's like a store. Someone puts something in their cart. If they checkout and pay for it, it's gone. If they change their mind, it goes back to the shelf (sometimes it can take a bit for someone to put it back in the correct location).
I highly doubt that anyone was able to accomplish that. My direct contract was set to close yesterday, but the credit card declined (new, large purchase, so not terribly surprising), and now even though it's paid/went through the second time - it's delayed until the 19th.Wouldn’t also be people who actually completed all the documentation same day? Actually, I don’t understand how it works with the recession period and the fact that people waited weeks for a notary.
I'm curious about this. I know you don't allow people to post availability because it can change at any time, but are you actually preventing people from posting links to genuine DVC/Disney sites in case they check availability for themselves? I obviously don't know what you're deleting, because you're deleting them, but I'm confused why you'd want to delete links to an actual DVC site, which is what your post implies? Or are you deleting something else?Deleted more posts. Do not post the link to the DVC. site that allows people to see availability.
It is something we don’t allow here. Thank you.

I've found CMs on the phone aren't forthcoming with full info that they see. But DVC does let us see night-specific availability online for Island Tower!Well it took me an hour and a half on hold today and I still didn't manage to get what I wanted (it was a TP Penthouse so the chances were slim) but I did get my cash reservation changed over to points.
I also released 2 VGF 2beds so hopefully someone here got a nice waitlist today!
NVM, I thought you secured some nights in the tower and just needed a few more when I mentioned having MS merge two reservations. Disregard! So I called and got through right away.. that was nice. I decided to try the waitlist for the nights I wanted as someone recommended.
What I was told is they would have to modify my reservation and by cancelling those two days and rebooking it, but since that room is not available someone could grab it or get it through waitlist before we can rebook it.
So I could end up with NO room for my last two nights unless the waitlist goes through.
Don't think I am willing to risk that.
It's also possible that that person did not understand what actually happened. If they own both Poly and SSR points, it is possible that the "extra" Poly points were borrowed, not taken from the SSR bucket. That's the only one I saw too, so I wonder if it's just a one off. It would be interesting to hear if anyone else did it.
There are some reports that people have been able to use non-PVB points for bookings today (alongside their poly points). This doesn’t really make sense to me, as I thought we were effectively in the home resort period![]()
Someone in the DVC Fan FB group said they were able to use SSR points for their reservation. Sounds like it wasn't supposed to happen and the CM didn't get fully trained.Ive asked on the chat about this. CM said the system wont allow you to book with non Poly points?
As we all know, nobody has ever been wrong on the internetSomeone in the DVC Fan FB group said they were able to use SSR points for their reservation. Sounds like it wasn't supposed to happen and the CM didn't get fully trained.
I also asked during my call and my CM didn't say anything about 'the system', though I didn't push for why it wasn't possible. I suspect blaming 'the system' might be a white lie:Ive asked on the chat about this. CM said the system wont allow you to book with non Poly points?
CFW was bookable online on day 1. Just no one noticed lolDVC job is to build and open new resorts. And when a new resort opens, people want to use their new points to book at their home resort during the preliminary booking period. No surprise there.
And yet, DVC hasn't managed in 30 years (how many since online reservations were available? 15?) to program this into their website.
In that time, how many such openings were new inventory on a sold out resort with existing owners? I know GF had a similar setup, but this does seem to be a pretty rare occurrence. And yet, DVC hasn't managed in 30 years (how many since online reservations were available? 15?) to program this into their website.
It has to be a one off, or just simply not true. Dunno; however what I do know is that I just spoke with MS and confirmed that we are only able to currently use Poly points to book the Tower. On November 19, we can start to use other points, subject to the 7 mo window. It sounded too good to be true. That's the only one I saw too, so I wonder if it's just a one off. It would be interesting to hear if anyone else did it.
It's far more expensive to program that change with multiple pre-go live test runs than it is to just pay to staff a few more Member Services for a few days. Not only that, but making any changes to the system brings a risk of causing an unforeseen bug/glitch. Having a bug on a product go-live day like the Poly Tower would be a monumental mistake by leadership and a blackeye to DVC. So instead they take the easy route, and I can't blame them.DVC job is to build and open new resorts. I also asked during my call and my CM didn't say anything about 'the system', though I didn't push for why it wasn't possible. I suspect blaming 'the system' might be a white lie:
- If the system were able to enforce the necessary logic, why weren't bookings available online like they were for CFW?
- By forcing bookings through phone/chat, you disrupt Member Services for other guests and potentially pay OT, offering shorter mandatory lunch breaks, etc.
- These are things you try to avoid when you run a contact center
- As a support rep, it's probably a lot easier to just say 'the system won't let me' instead of 'our policy won't let me' (with an implicit 'but I can').
- At least one report of someone getting non-Poly points applied to an Island Tower booking.

Make sure to Visit Kidani's pool for the kids if the weather cooperates. We routinely do 3 resort splits when we travel because we book inside 7 months. We also like different resorts for different things. This upcoming DEC we have 2 nights in an AKL 1BR, 3 nights in a BRV 1BR, and then trying to get 3 nights in a PIT studio (currently booked in a resort studio at VGF).
We have 3 kids 13, 9, and 2. Our kids each like different resorts for pools or dining so we try to hit at least 2 each trip.
Does a 2 year old count against room occupancy? I honestly forget. Just wondering because if he/she counts, then a PVB Tower Studio won't work for your family as it only accommodates 4.We routinely do 3 resort splits when we travel because we book inside 7 months. No, but you are only allowed one per room. We have twin two year olds in the familyDoes a 2 year old count against room occupancy? I honestly forget. Just wondering because if he/she counts, then a PVB Tower Studio won't work for your family as it only accommodates 4.
