Purchase new contract or buy transfer points?

Haven't closed yet and feel I don't have enough points. Has anyone bought points from someone for a one time transfer? What is your experiences doing this?

I bought $2000 worth of points in January from **************** points for transfer board so we would have enough points for week at christmas this year in 2bdrm villa. Seller was great! I paid 1/2 via paypal, then the seller transferred points into our DVC account, after confirmed with member services points were there I paid the other 1/2 of cost via paypal again. Worked perfect. In the future I will do this again for big trips

Note that technically (contractually), DVC does not allow owners to be compensated for transfers. I don't know what their recourse is, but you aren't supposed to do it.

That being said, you can find transfers available in the rent/trade forum here. Because a member can only make one transfer out per year, they usually like to trade in a single, large transaction.

Yes, I have done both...gotten transfers and transferred to others...when I got the points, it was supposed to hold me over, but then I realized I needed them regularly so we added on.

When I transferred them to someone else, it was when we bought our 3rd contract and it had points that I didn't need since my trips for that year were booked..

But, for a temporary solution, it can be a good thing...

You're new, spend some time establishing patterns and preferences, you can always add on later if needed. There are MANY ways to stretch points. If you need more now pay for a transfer or rent from someone else, maybe distressed points if you can plan accordingly.
