punta cana anyone?

looking to go for a long weekend with just hubby for our anniversary. This place look great PARADISUS PUNTA CANA. Anyone been?

Someone at work went and absolutely LOVED the resort and said the food was very good. My DD and I went last year and stayed at the Caribe Princess in Punta Canta and the food was absolutely awful. Punta Canta itself is absolutely beautiful. If you are looking for an excursion - I would very very highly recommend Marco Surf Camp. You can find them on trip advisor. They are someone you book with yourself, they will personally pick you up at your hotel and return you after an afternoon of surf lessons. They also have someone that sits on the beach and takes pictures and then will come to drop off at CD for $30 at the end of the day. The trip was honestly amazing and the pictures GREAT too.

Have not been to that particular resort but DH and I went to Punta Cana for our honeymoon 15 years ago (when nobody knew what/where it was, lol!). We have been all over the caribbean as well as to Hawaii. Nothing compares. GO!

We weren't at this resort last either (was there last March). Look at the reviews on tripadvisor. You need to take things with a grain of salt -- many there don't speak English well and it is not as commercial as Mexico. There are many large hotels and many are wonderful. The beach is absolutely beautiful!

We also did Macao surf camp with our family of 5 -- it was the highlight of our vacation!!

I know you mentioned Punta Cana but please consider Secrets Maroma Beach in Mexico. Adults only and pure luxury!! It was amazing! Check out the reviews on tripadvisor.com

I did Secrets Capri.

I'm not an AI fan but love adults only if not bringing kids.

The Royal in PDC is highly regarded on playa.info board.

They were having a sale recently.


How about trying cheapcaribbean for deals to Punta Cana....

I've been to Punta Cana twice and loved it both times. We stayed at the Catalonia Bavaro (one week) and the Iberostar Punta Cana (two weeks); both had their good and bad points:

Catalonia
Good: BEACH was beautiful, calm, lots of palapas and umbrellas. Swim-up bar in poool. Very nice staff. Excellent lunch at the pool restaurant with self-serve beer (DH loved that!). Villa layout was great for us.

Bad: Besides lunch at the pool, the rest of the meals were just OK.

Iberostar
Good: Food was significantly better than Catalonia.

Bad: I found the beach to be cramped and rougher than at the Catalonia. We are beach lovers and spent more time at the pool than I ever would have anticipated because the beach wasn't swimmable many of the days we were there. The setup of the Punta Cana and Dominicana side is like a large motel. The Iberostar Bavaro has the villa layout, which I think is a bit nicer.

In any case, I thought both hotels offered great value for what we spent, and we'd gladly go to any of them again.

FWIW, if you're still open to different hotel suggestions, I've heard excellent reviews about the Majestic hotels and the Melia hotels.
