Punch holes in my plan for dealing with different use years

I have an existing BCV contract with a June UY. I just purchased another BCV contract with an April UY, forgetting/not realizing that UY actually does matter at times.

My April contract has half as many points as June. For arguments sake, let's just say I have 100 points in June, 50 in April. We typically book a trip around F&W time near the 11 month mark. So, my plan is to, at booking time, transfer the entirety of my April points to my June contract, book the trip, and bank any remaining points from the June contract.

As the bulk of my points are in the June contract, the inability to transfer banked/borrowed points from the April contract is annoying, but not that big of a deal.

Am I missing anything?

I don't think so. Since they are the same resort, it should work without issue. Just be sure that when you go to book, you remind them to use the transferred points first--although I believe they do that anyway.

The only glitch--at some point, would be if end up with enough banked points from your June UY that you don't need the April UY points--but in that case, you simply would need to take another trip!!!

It's not a big deal. Likely the best approach for the same home resort is to transfer each year which works for all but transferred points which can't "normally" be transferred. The other approach is to use each and then link, the big draw back to that is if you're trying to do the 7 day reservations at 11 months out.

With the latest software updates at MS things my be different now but a couple of years ago we transfered points from one UY to the other and will never do it again. MS could tell where the points came from but not where they went. They would see an available point balance but each time we tried to use the points, the system would not let them complete the reservation. This resulted in us losing rooms twice, once was Concierge at 11 months. A supervisor admitted that it "looks like the points are there but they really aren't, they are really over here". We finally used up the points and vowed to never transfer again.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like I should be ok... going to be extra cautious the first time I transfer points though.

That's a problem I wouldn't mind having :)

I have 2 UY at SSR Aug and Oct and booked 10 nights at THV with no problems. I had 130 pnts in Oct UY and needed 127 to complete my ressie. MS suggested transferring 127 points making the ressie then transfer the other 3. The reason was the 127 were current year points that I was using with banked points in Aug UY and I was told if I transferred the 130 all those points would be used 1st before the banked points. MS was very helpful!
Good luck

We have 2 UY at 2 different resorts, and although I wish we had the same UY, it really isn't a problem. We try to avoid transferring and we just book everything with one of the accounts. I had good luck this week by booking 5 days of a trip with 1 UY at the 7-month window and calling again to book the last day of the trip with the other YU.
