Looking for others experience on how long it really takes driving time wise to go from Baltimore, MD to the Fort. We have two overnights planned, the last being in the City of Tybee Campground.

Thanks

I live in the DC area (just south of The Mixing Bowl), BIL lives in Cockeysville so I'm familier with the route. As you can see by my sig pic I'm pulling a load. It seems that for whatever reason I can't wait to get to Disney. We usually leave around noon on a Saturday and drive to the Brunswick, GA Flying J (stopping at the Carmel Church, VA and Latta, SC Flying Js along the way) to overnight. We usually pull in around 10pm. We're on the road pretty early Sunday morning getting to The Fort around 11am. Coming home is something similar. We leave The Fort by 11am but may go to DTD for a couple of hours before finally leaving. DW really has to push me to leave. I drive until we get to the Kenly, NC Flying J (stopping at the others) to overnight. I don't really pay attention to what time we get home as I'm already planning our next trip to The Fort. Total driving time is about 16 hours, yours may be closer to 18 hours. I drive 60-63 mph (best fuel economy) when towing. I've only driven through once and it took 13 hours but then I wasn't towing and keeping it just this side of light speed.

it is about 24 hours from Albany N.Y. to Fort if that helps you any.

We stopped at the Kenly, NC Flying J on our last trip. If this helps, we are coming from Maine, and just outside of Baltimore we usually stop for the 1st night. We don't stop at campgrounds, we just pull into truck stops. I know a lot of people frown upon this, but we don't want to HAVE to stop if we don't need to. We look at our route ahead of time and find the exits that have truck stops and then see what we feel like when we get there, we do try to choose stops that don't look too "shady". Besides, especially now with gas prices the way they are, it saves a little money to sleep for free. Anyway, from the Baltimore area leaving around 9am, we usually make it to Savannah, GA by 8-9pm. I drive hardcore though. Very quick stops for eating and bathroom. My kids call me the travel nazi.:rotfl: There is a nice TA in Savannah that we stopped at last year. We are planning on hitting that one again. Then it takes about 5 hours(depending on traffic) to get to the fort. On the way back we stopped the 1st night in Kenly, NC at a Flying J, and then I think Conneticut was a our second stop. I know this is long, but hope it helps! Have a great trip!

It really depends on how fast you drive. I live in southeastern PA, North - East of Philly and it is usually about an 18 hour drive from here. We are probably 2 hours from you in Baltimore.

We stopped at that T/A our first trip. I didn't really like that parking lot situation. We stopped there on our second trip but I couldn't sleep so we drove down the the Brunswick Flying J, exit 29 I think. Much nicer. No problem parking in the dedicated RV parking and it seemed quieter than the T/A. There is also a Sadler's in, IIRC, Dunn, NC that is very nice as well.

I am about 100 miles north of you up I-83. However, to avoid most of the DC-Baltimore traffic, we take route 15 south thru Gettysburg and Frederick, catch the 270-495 route around the west side of DC.

We drive the first day to Florence, SC and spend the night in the KOA there (just over 500 miles from my driveway). The next day we drive to the Fort, just under 450 miles.

We are real slow pokes and being retired are in no hurry. We are just outside of D.C. on I-66 and take US 17 near Warrenton down to Fredricksburg and I-95 from there. We stop at Rocky Mount, Florence or Savannah, then Jax and on to the Fort. Coming back it's Florence or Savanna and then Smithfield and then home.

We generally leave around 8AM and stop between 2 and 4 PM it set up, maybe watch a move, relax, cook and get ready for the next day. We do hit a lot of rest areas, along with a longer stop for DW to fix lunch in the trailer that we eat in the Van and pot the puppies and take 30min or so when refueling since we always stop at the Flying J's for diesel fuel. I also don't tow faster than 59/60 mph since that is where I get the best fuel mileage and is the most enjoyable driving wise.

I'm also extra cautious and never, ever want to be pushing it towing so like to not do over 6 to maybe 8 hours total on the road at one time w/o an overnight stop. It only takes one instance that can ruin your day and maybe even your life. When I was young and restless in my late 20's I towed a pop up for like 16 hours from IIRC San Diego to Albuquerque but never again. Got into Albuquerque after midnight and was cooking supper for me in an electric skillet cause I was starving.

Marylander here. (home of the tax me state:goodvibes )
We drive south about every other year both with and without PUP.
15 hours.
We leave at 2am and get to Orlando around ~4:30pm. We stop for 1 sit down meal and stop for potty/fuel breaks within the 14-15hours.
We avoid the peak drive times through DC like the plaque:lmao:

We live in Western MD, near Cumberland.
it takes us 16 hours from our door to Disney's. For 10 years plus I would drive non-stop both ways. But the last 5 years I stop about 1/2 way. Its about 1000 miles.

We live about 45 mins from Baltimore and we use 83 and go right through the city and jump right on 95 and completly avoid 695 which is a pain in the butt!! Yeah we look crazy pulling a 38ft from bumper to tongue past the harbor but thats ok!! I love the looks we get when DH whips it around the corner like a tiller truck!! LOL Lord Knows he made my A$$ pucker a few times!!
