Price to add a ticket day?

I'm not sure where to post this, but I'm wondering if someone can help me out here really quick.

I want to change our package from 4 day tickets to 5 day tickets. We have 2 adults and 2 kids. When I go look at the website to see how much tickets are, it tells me that it is $1136 to buy 4 day tickets for all of us or $1176 to buy 5 day tickets for all of us. So I would assume that it would cost $40 more to upgrade to 5 day tickets? Is that correct? Am I missing something?

When I tried to call tonight and do this, the cast member told me it would be $175 more to upgrade the tickets. What?? Is it more expensive to buy tickets with your resort package? I'm so confused, and she could not help to explain this at all.

If any of you can help me understand, I would be so grateful!:confused3

So I'm reading more about this here on the disboards, and it would appear that it is kind of complicated to try to add park days to your package. Crazy, because the original cast member that I booked our package with back in May told me it would be no problem at all to add another day! Just call us any time, it's only $10 per person per day, she said!

It sounds like people have had better luck upgrading their tickets for another day once they are on Disney property. But I would really like to plan my day and book Fastpasses ahead of time. Should I call again tomorrow and see if I can get a different answer with a different CM?

Anyone have thoughts?? I need to go to bed, but I'm not going to be able to sleep because I'm fuming about this!

Trying to remember when prices increased, if you booked before the increase then the difference would include that as we'll and not just the extra day. In that case you will need to wait until you get there and start using your ticket to add a day.

I'm pretty sure we bought our tickets after the price increase. We booked in May, and I think the prices increased in February??

The cost to do that is $10.65 per ticket.

Not according to the two different cast members who I talked to tonight, who both quoted me at an additional total of $175 (over $43 per ticket)! How do I find a CM who will give me that $10.65 price??

1. They're flat-out wrong.

2. Call again.

On the other hand...
Did you, by chance, purchase NON-EXPIRING tickets? (And, if so, why)

No they are just plain old 4 day base tickets. No park hopper or anything extra. I did purchase them with a package with free dining? But does that affect the price of the tickets? (In my mind, it shouldn't).

I will try to call again tomorrow.

1. OK. Good.
2. It costs no more to add days to the ticket even if you did have Hoppers and/or WPF&M options, so that's not a factor.
3. Nope.
4. Correct.
5. That ought to do it. Be sure and report back. :thumbsup2

Thanks for answering my questions. I needed someone with more experience to confirm that I was right on this and not missing something obvious. Here's hoping for a more knowledgeable CM tomorrow! :goodvibes

I find that time after time, I have to call Disney two or three or four times to get the same answer to a question that I already figured out myself by doing some research. Be sure both you and the Disney rep are talking about pricing the same way -- with tax or without tax. The following prices are from the Disney Website, and include tax: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/tickets/

Disney's last price increase was Feb 23, 2014. You're sure you booked after that date...

4-day MYW Base tickets, 2 Adult and 2 Child, would be $626.22 + $583.62 = $1209.84 (including 6.5% tax).

5-day MYW Base tickets, 2 Adult and 2 Child, would be $647.52 + $604.92 = $1252.44 (including 6.5% tax).

Cost to upgrade 4-day base tickets to 5-day base tickets: $42.60. (That's $10 per ticket, plus 6.5% tax.)

Are you very close to check-in, and they're charging a change fee? Many times, they waive a change fee if you're adding something to your package. Trying to figure out the high $$ discrepancy. Everyone knows it's $10 + .65 tax per day extra to add a day after ticket day 4. Since their answer is not explainable, you have to insist that they spell it out for you so that you understand. Go to a supervisor if necessary. Let us know back.

We booked on May 7, 2014, and we are 47 days out. I wanted to add the extra day and then pay our balance off tonight before we hit the 45 day deadline!

I keep trying to figure out how she came to that $175 (it wasn't exactly $175 to the penny but something close). That was the difference between the 5 day ticket package total and the 4 day total, both post tax. I just kept telling her that it should be about $43 to add that extra day. And she said, yes it is $43 per person per day! And I said no it is $43 per day total. And we went on like that for a while before I just gave up.

In my mind, she should just be putting these numbers in the computer, which should then produce the correct amount. It just doesn't make any sense. I thought I talked to two different people tonight, but now I'm wondering if when I called back, I was actually talking to the same person again? I didn't catch her name the first time but they sounded similar. What are the chances of that? It would make more sense if one person was giving me the wrong info twice rather than two different people telling me the same wrong info.

In the grand scheme of things I suppose this really isn't that big of a deal, but it is driving my logical mind crazy because I can't figure it out.

It is quite possible that you got the same CM both times.

Another thing to consider is if the first CM attached a "note" in your package file that says that you and that first CM had had a "discussion" about the fees and that the price for this should be quoted as "X" if you called again.
I've seen that kind of situation regarding CMs and upgrade prices in the past.

I called first thing this morning, and explained that there had been some confusion last night but that I just wanted to add one day of tickets to our package. He took all my info and came back to me with my new package total, which was exactly $42.60 more than my original package. I told him thank you, because that is a very different number than what they gave me last night! He didn't have an explanation for that, but I was just grateful he go it correct this morning.

The only thing that makes sense with the number she gave me last night is that somehow when calculating the new cost she added an extra day in the parks AND an extra night at Pop Century. I think the total could come out to around $175 if she figured it that way. Or she just really thought it was $42ish dollars per person per day to add the tickets. Who knows?

I'm just happy that I had a much better experience this morning! Now to go plan another day at the parks!! :cool1:

Like all of us, CMs sometimes make mistakes.

Glad it worked out for you! :)

I would expect a CM to know a ticket is $10+ per day after Day 4. It's a great selling point. I guess everyone's expertise varies. I'm happy the CM you talked with today had it right. You're sharp to research your numbers -- what if you just went along with what the first CM told you and never realized the overcharge? When I book, I already know all the figures, and the total I get has to match my numbers (within $1-$2). After booking, I scout these Boards and Mousesavers for any new specials for my dates. The costs and details can all be found on these Boards, Mousesavers, etc. Have a wonderful trip!
