Does anyone know if know you simply need to pay the difference to upgrade to a premium from the preferred? Also, last year we did the buy 1 year get 2nd free so our passes do not expire until Aug 2008, if you can pay to upgrade the pass will you keep the remaining expiration date?

We just did this in April. We had purchased the Preferred pass in September 2006 with the 2nd year free, so a September 2008 expiration date.

In April 2007, we went to Guest Relations at Universal and asked about upgrading to the Premier Pass. It cost $100 per ticket to do this. You do *not* keep your free second year, however, they did adjust our expiration date to be one year from the date of our upgrade, so our new expiration date is April 2008.

We love the Premier Pass and are glad we upgraded. We are not early park goes, and really enjoy arriving late afternoon and using Express Pass to get so much done in just a couple of hours of park time. And love the valet parking.

The Premier Pass seems to have some nice benefits but I don't think you can renew the pass...you have to buy a new one each year. I'll stick with the PAP and pay the $99.00 renewal.

Thanks for the response. We always stay on-sight, so FOTL is a given. I think the $99 renewal is a better deal. If I were a local or stayed off sight then I think the premium would be a good deal because of the valet and the FOTL in the afternoons.

Oh, then the Premier Pass would really have no value for you. We own a second home in the area so we never stay onsite. Valet parking and after-4 PM FOTL works perfectly for us.

I'm another big fan of Premier, altho' it is definitely geared to locals. We live in the area, so we love swinging over to CityWalk for an early dinner around 3, then hopping over to the parks to take advantage of FOTL all evening (after parking our car via the valet, of course). The Premier Pass has upped our Universal visits 70% and lowered our Disney visits by the same margin...we are very spoiled now.

If Universal would let you renew the PP instead of making you buy a new every year, I would probably upgrade. I like the FOTL after 4pm, free valet and the ticket to HHN but.......
