Hi All,
Okay, I dont know where to start w/ this one but hear it goes... My bf was planning a surprise 30th birthday trip for me in Sept, but since I found out about it i did all the planning! :) Well come to find out a month ago, my plans will take a complete 360... :rolleyes1 we found out we were pregnant... SURPRISE  (which is a great thing) but now I dont know what to do about planning. This whole pregnancy thing is new to both of us and he keeps on telling me maybe it isnt a good idea if we go :( I think he is nuts... I will only be between 4 and 5 months. I am not looking to ride on anything dangerous but if there are rides that I can ride on I would love to know what they are (if possible in every park). We will be going in the second week of Sept for a week and he thinks it will be too hot for me :sunny:
I need your help w/ planning a new trip... For anyone that has been pregnant in the parks or for anyone that knew someone who was pregnant in WDW could you please give us advise and help us plan a new itinerary. thanks so much! :) pixiedust: :thanks: :tink:

this past febuary my DH and I went to disney and I was also between 4 and 5 months pregnant, I did all rides that did not have hight restrictions I also did sorin I stayed away from all coasters and TOT, I have heard some woman have gone on the safari ride but for me they the ride was not worth the risk for me(it has a pregnancy warning) keep in mind that septemeber is still a very hot time of year so keep water with you. and also a map of the park so that you know were all the bathrooms are trust me you will need to know. make sure you take lots of breaks.

I went to Disney all 9 months of my last pregnancy. I followed the warnings on rides, because I'd rather be safe than sorry. The only attraction I had any problem with was the Haunted Mansion. The part where it turns around backwards caused me some pain. I think it stretched the round ligaments or something. It just lasted a few seconds, but I decided not to ride it the rest of my pregnancy. I had a high risk pregnancy, and took good care to keep myself hydrated and rest when my body gave signals of being tired.

Lots of water, and plan breaks every day during the hotest parts like 1-4pm. Put your feet up.
you are going during the best part of your pregnancy. But you won't be able to do the parks 'comando style'.
The rides to avoid have signs with a warning, that and commen sense you will be fine...
Enjoy your trip and this special time.

Bev

Congrats on your pg!

I was 7mos pg in Sept 2004 when DH and I went. I had a great pg and felt good so I was lucky! I didn't ride the roller coasters but I was able to do everything else. A few tips that I found helpful:

*take breaks when you need it. It will be HOT so take it easy. We did go back to the hotel one afternoon and swam in the pool and it felt wonderful so that is an idea.

*one of the best tips I got was to get a brita water bottle with the filter in the top. I bought a thermal carrier that held the bottle that could go around my shoulder (like a purse). Any restaurant will give you a free cup of ice if you ask and DH and I both would get one when we ate. I dumped the ice in the bottle and filled it at drinking foutains when I needed it. Florida water doesn't taste good so this bottle with the Brita filter made it taste good. Make sure to stay hydrated as it's so important normally but especially being pg.

*Good, comfy shoes for you. The walking is good for you and baby but you will do alot of it--as you know!

*you can ride more than you think you can. I stayed away from the roller coasters but did all the smaller rides. Check with your OB about his/her thoughts also. My OB told me to go and enjoy my last vacation with DH before baby!

Have fun! Go at your own pace and enjoy!

I also went at 5 months pregnant(back in 94), but I had no problems,
like everyone else just stay away from coasters and read ride restrictions,
You can also take your break from the heat in the baby centers, they have
ac rooms w/ tv and rocking chairs. That would make for a nice break.
If your dr. says you can go I would go. Have a magical trip and best wishes
for a happy and healthy baby.....as a matter of fact my now 12 yr old ds tells me all the time how he remembers that trip because he watched out
my bellybutton.

Hi, JRabbit! Are you going down the weekend of 9/9? We are arriving on 9/10, and I will also be 4-5 months pregnant. I just saw my OB last week and asked him about the trip. He said no problem going, just drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks and skip all rides with a restriction. I hate to miss Test Track, but it it going to be so worth it. I am also having to cancel my Segway tour, but I think DH may do it without me since it was supposed to be a suprise for him anyways. Where are you staying?

Went to to Disney all 3 pregnancies. I took breaks when my body told me I needed to and I drank plenty of water. I rode the Safari and test track with no problems at all. I also stayed away from TOT and all roller coasters. Just take it a little slower than you normally would and listen to what your body.

HAVE FUN!!

You can handle it! I went during my 2nd trimester too. Most people feel a little more tired than they do during the 1st and 3rd. Disney also has warnign signs on rides and they will tell you not to ride if pregnant...like Mission Space. Basically if you have any kind of anything, they tell you to get off that ride.

Just go slow and dont get over heated. It will make you queezy.

AND HAVE FUN!

:smickey: Congrats! :cool1: I went when I was 4 months back in Nov. I skipped all rides with warnings. Didn't do the tea cups. I took small naps (or rested ) in the afternoon. Best of all,I ate EVERTHING in sight.

Enjoy! :smickey:

Just wanted to say congratulations! I went with my sister when she was...pretty big. I don't remember how far along she was. I think there was another thread about this a few days ago too. I'm just reading cuz someday....

Thank you all so much for your responses.. :grouphug: I will take your advise and rest and eat alot!! :Pinkbounc ....
Q: Chchicknoodle99- I never ever heard of a brita water bottle before, Can I get it anywhere (like target/walmart??) Its a great idea as I was thinking we had to lug around a cooler bag w/ water. :guilty:

ssdeverell- we are going down during the same time as you!! :) We will be there from the 9th-15th. Congrats on your pregnancy as well! :) We are going to be staying at CSR. We didnt make any special requests for a room thats close to the main room because we didnt think we had to but I think I should now. We should meet up and eat chocolate together! :) :mickeybar

hi and congrats to both of you. I know this question wasnt posted for me but I think you can get the brita water bottles anywhere. If I remember right I remember seeing one at Pathmark but never paid mind to it because I just figured it was stupid, but now it makes sense. :) :moped: good luck and make sure you drink lots of water.

I have not been to WDW while pregnant, but did go to Six Flags in Atlanta while 5 months pregnant in September - HOT, HOT, HOT. I drank lots of water, rested in the shade (or better yet, somewhere with AC!) while my family rode the rides I had to skip, and had a great time! The key is comfortable shoes, lots of water, and resting when you feel you need to rest. You have to make touring while pregnant a relaxing venture! Congrats on your pregnancy!

I did Disney World last August while I was 8 months pregnant. There was a 110 degree heat index every day. I had a blast!!! I brought frozen Gatorade into the parks with me every day. I did ride Haunted Mansion, Snow White, Peter Pan, Jungle Cruise and Pirates in MK, I rode Journey into Imagination and Spaceship Earth at Epcot, didn't ride anything at Animal Kingdom except the train to Harambe Village and did the Backlot Tour at MGM. I sat when I could and ducked into air-conditioning when I could and would do it again in a heartbeat. I was 3 weeks from being induced when we went. I say go for it!!!

I bought my Brita Bottle at Wal-Mart a few years ago. It looks like a regular water bottle but the filter is in the top..it's a long skinny filter. Good luck!

I was 4 months pregnant with my DS when we went to WDW.

I didn't go on any wild rides. Took lots of breaks. Ate and drank when I needed to. And we had a great time.

Congrats on being pregnant!!! :teeth:

Go on your trip and have a wonderful time!!!
