Post pics of your bag you carry into park

I really want to order the Travelon Slim Messenger for my upcoming WDW trip...anyone have any discount codes for ebags or bagsbuy???

I just used this one for Bagsbuy: save10 It'll give you $10 off!! And if you sign up with them you'll receive another 10% off!!

I just ordered this one and I hope it is what I am wanting. I wanted a small backpack just to be able to carry a few things in. I have a sling bag that I really like but after a while I got tired of carrying everying on one shoulder.

This one is a North Face backpack and it was on sale for around $23.00.

Here's me with my travelon bag...it was great in the parks. I wore it int he front- as shown, but it can also be worn in the back.
Fit everything and was expandable when needed to be.
I bought it at tjmax for (i think) $11.
I had been researching them before my trip and was thrilled to find one so cheap.

Can I tell y'all just how much I've loved this thread? Who knew that pictures of bags could be so entertaining! :goodvibes

And, I'm almost ready to buy one of each!

In anticipation for my January trip, I did buy a new digital camera - a little larger than my teeny-tiny point-and-shoot. And, of course, I had to find a cute camera bag to put it in ;). This is what I got:

http://www.ebags.com/crumpler/the_2_million_dollar_home/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=106997

It's pretty cute! My rationale for getting one this size was that I could safely carry my camera in it but include other things as well [cell phone, keys, etc]. To be honest, it's a tight squeeze - not so tight that I wish I had a larger one, but tight enough for me to rethink all that I might take into the park. There are lots of pockets to stash things in. And I have until January to think about it!

LOVE THIS BAG! :thumbsup2 I was looking for something small, cross body that would fit my medium point and shoot Sony, sunglasses, etc. I love how this one protects your camera so you don't have to take it in and out of a camera bag but it's not bouncing around you purse! Thanks for sharing...this is a definite maybe for our next trip! :goodvibes

Please let us know how it works in January, I will be going in December of 09!:cool1:

Is this the Travelon Slim-line or a different one? It looks smaller than others I've seen.

From the dimensions, that seems to be a decent sized fanny pack. I think it would depend on what you plan on carrying. I believe eBags will pay the shipping on a return, so you could always order it, try putting your stuff in it, and see if it works well.

Like the above poster said, it depends on how much you want to carry in it. I've tried LOTS of bags over the years, but always seem to come back to the Overland Equipment Placer bag. It's small, but holds tons, and is so light I never know I'm wearing it. It's only 7"x5.25"x3.5" and weighs only 5 oz. It's the perfect bag for me. I also loaned mine to a coworker who went to WDW in July. She and her sister used them for a week and also loved them. I have one in lime green and one in paprika. I love them. It's one of the few bags that has a really good long strap and the strap doesn't rub my neck (hated the bagglini for this reason). Check them out:

The picture above is of the regular Travelon - this one:

The main difference between the regular Travelon and the slim line Travelon is the slim line is slightly smaller (its slimmed down so to speak) and it does NOT have the flap like the regular Travelon - which some may find more convenient.

here's the slim-line:

SO- do you wear it as a shoulder bag or across your chest? I really want to avoid a shoulder bag as I know it will bother me, but I love the look of this bag and 5oz- wow it sure IS light! The straps look long enough to wear cross chest... I may have to get this one- just want to be sure that's how you wear it- thanks!

Hi, You didn't ask me:), but I looove the Placer (I have it in several colors) and wear it across my chest. I'm 5'9, so the strap is plenty long and adjustable if you ever want to use it as a shoulder bag. It's very easy to access your stuff with the zipper to the main compartment on top of the bag and the velcro flap has a padded cell phone pocket that my sub compact Canon camera fits nicely into-- so handy. I have looked for years for a good travel bag and this has been the best I've found.

Sierratradingpost.com has great prices on Overland Equipment bags (they have the larger version of the placer, the ever popular Donner), and usually they have good coupon codes if you sign up for their mailing list or search online.

Thanks Darcyt for the reminder of Sierra... I forgot all about them! I've been almost sold on an Ameribag but found the Overland Donner on sale at STP for $27.00 :cool1: So I placed my order for that and so much for waiting for Christmas :rotfl:

Will post another report when I get it on how it holds up with all the junk I have lined up to cram into it LOL.

Like darcyt, I too wear it cross chest. I'm very Pooh size and have no problems with it. The regular Overland Donner was too big for what I carry, but the Placer is perfect. It holds my credit card/room key divider thingy and fast passes in the mesh zippered compartment in the flap, has an open compartment on the back for my Hidden Mickey book and park maps, my camera and journal goes in the bigger compartment, it has two slim compartments that perfectly hold a pen and a Tide pen, the padded compartment next to them I use for my cell phone, and then it has a pocket behind those three which I don't usually need, although sometimes I'll slip a copy of my itinerary in there. Again the Placer is small, but holds all I need it to and weighs only 5 oz, so you never know you have it on.

Hey, the two they are showing on Sierra Trading post (lime green and paprika) are the two that I have.

Ok, you all are convincing me to go with the Placer! :thumbsup2

One more question though- several of the reviews on SIerra Trading Post mention issues with the velcro fastener not being strong enough- anyone here had that problem?

Your influence and information is appreciated!! :)

I have not had that problem at all, but I suppose it could happen if you stuffed the bag too full? I have several Placer bags (I like the old style, so I bought a bunch in different colors before they became extinct;)), and haven't had any problem with the velcro.

My only negative with the OE bags is that they're very casual. Which is no problem for Disney!

Aubriee, I love the idea of a Tide pen in the 2nd pen slot. Genius! :thumbsup2 I have an emery board in mine, but I think a Tide pen will fit in with it nicely.

This is the one I carry, more for fun than practicality. It holds everything I need, though, and I get a ton of compliments on it. :) It has an inside zipper compartment, as well as an outside one on the side--very handy.

After reading this thread and much searching, I've ordered the Travelon Crinkle Nylon Expandable Hipster/ Shoulder Bag from QVC. My bag criteria were: 1) must be able to be carried across body, not just one shoulder, 2) had to be gender neutral enough that DH would do some of the carrying, 3) had to be relatively small so that it doesn't beat the heads of small children, 4) had to hold a water bottle in some way, 5) no full flap over the main compartment so I have simple camera access, 6) had to have a "hidden" rear comparment for me to carry cash/cards in. This one met all my all of those - I'll let you know what I think when it arrives. Alot to ask of any one bag.

Cant' get the link to work right. This is a cut and paste:
