Post if you are going Thanksgiving Week!!!!

Wow, I am very excited for everyone going this year. I am planning a trip next year for the Friday before Thanksgiving and flying back on Thanksgiving night. I would love feedback on these questions:

1. I need a 2 BR and 2 Studios for VWL....will this be possible at the 7 month window? I hear that VWL is great with Christmas decorations and would love some first time Disney folks to senjoy that.
2. Flights affordable, I am assuming thanksgiving day is ok?
3. Park Crowds...we are used to light crowds in late October. I have heard that crowds are fine until Wed before thanksgiving?

thanks, Jimbo

Not sure about VWL.....but I too have heard the CHRISTMAS DECOR IS GREAT there. I want to stay there one Nov. too. As far as the flights go....Airtran and SW have the cheapest in our area but SW always beats Airtran in the end because of Dings. I was able to get a great deal on SW for my flight going and coming. I started with 79 each way and then got dings which lowered me to 49 on Thanksgiving Day and I think I got 36 maybe on the flight down there. DIRT CHEAP...but we are flying in the Wed. evening a week before Thanksgiving and leaving on Thanksgiving Day. Park crowds are more than they used to be several years ago at Thanksgiving when we first went. I noticed that increase two years ago. That is why we go almost a week before the holiday because as you said...when you get to about Wed. and maybe even Tuesday now.....it really picks up. Friday/Sat. ARE PACKED IN THE PARKS.

LOVE IT THOUGH.....LOVE THE DECORATIONS. Have fun planning your trip next year.

We're at SSR 11/18-11/25...for our traditional T-giving at Disney...DS joins me 11/19...he's at college 350 miles from home...it will be my first "DS-Sighting" since August...that's cause for thankfulness!

We have T-giving dinner reservations at CG (we're on DP, but since DS doesn't arrive til very late 11/19 and I get in 11/18, I won't use my TSs (or his) Sun-Mon--that gives us two signature dining experiences to try...yay! (The other one will be Yachtsman's)...

Anyone want to try for a DIS Meet? Sunday or Monday (11/18-11/19) works best for me...I'm willing to travel anywhere within WDW (up til 9 p.m. Monday night, when DS arrives)...

And crowds have been big starting the Tues before T-giving for the past few years...and don't lighten up til the Mon after...definitely a time frame when you need to plan around crowds...

Happy T-giving!

Leaving on the 10th for a much needed break.

11/10 at the Gaylord Palms
11/11 to 11/18 at BWV
11/18 to 11/21 at AKL

I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it.

:thumbsup2 WOW....same as us. I can't wait. Maybe I will see you there somewhere. I now know who to look for since your pix is on here. :goodvibes

Don't be shy to say hi if you see us anywhere :wave2:. Even if it's at the airport :thumbsup2

WOW what a wonderful LONG TRIP FOR YOU. Those days after Thanksgiving weekend should be NICE AND QUIET DOWN THERE. Enjoy!!!!!

We like our near 2 week trips. We usually get two of those a year, and since we were last down in May, I'm REALLY ready for this one!

After days like this at work........IT WILL BE PURE BLISS TO BE AT THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH. WOOOOOHOOOOO

I know exactly how you feel. I've had a rough week at work and when I'm sitting in that lovely Los Angeles traffic, I think to myself "I'm so looking forward to this vacation!!" I NEED THIS VACATION!!! :rotfl2:

OOOOO!! This thread just ups the excitement here! We arrive on Thanksgiving day - 2 studios at OKW for 3 nights and then a 2 br at SSR until Dec 1. Bringing DH, DS - 7 and DS - 5 as well as my in-laws who haven't been to WDW since before Epcot was built!!!!! We told our kids (with in-laws present) on Saturday night by "sending" them a package of goodies from Stitch and an invitation from him as well. We have a countdown calendar and everything. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Needless to say it was very very very loud and exciting when they figured out what was going on!! FYI - we were able to get a res for Thanksgiving dinner at Tusker House just a few days ago - everything else had been pretty much booked, but we saw that Tusker House would be open and we gave it a shot - 6:20 pm for 6 people - not bad at all!

:wizard: Safe travels to everyone! Hope to run into you all there!

Heading down to BWV from 11/16 - 11/21. This is our first time at WDW during Thanksgiving week (although we will be gone by Thanksgiving Day). Can you veterans tell me what type of crowds to expect?

Hey, should we turn this into a "mini DVC/DIS meet" thread? I wouldn't be able to meet until after the 23, because the DGC will be leaving that day, but how does everyone feel?

We would enjoy meeting some of those great DIS board folks! 24th would probably work. We will be at SSR from the 20th to the 25th. My parents will be joining us for their first trip to Disney in about 20 years (or more)! And their first trip home!

DW and DD will have to leave on Friday to join the Pride of the ACC Marching Band for the Saturday home game against Duke. DD is a senior and this is the Senior Game for the Band; they (and parents) are recognized at half time in the middle of the field. Bummer I can't be there, but we had invited mom and dad to join us before we knew of these activities. Maybe my son and I can see the Carolina-Duke game on TV in Orlando. lol!!!

We'll be there from the 21st through the 30th. The first four nights we'll be at the GF, then going home to SSR for the last 5 nights. I may be the only person, but I am not looking forward to the GF. Give me a one-bedroom by DTD over a monorail any day, but especially during the holidays!

We'll be arriving the 20th and leaving on the 26th. This will be our first trip home at the AKV's. This will be our 2nd Thanksgiving trip and we can't wait!:cool1:

We're not going to WDW, but assuming all DVCs "count", we'll be at HHI for Thanksgiving.

This will be our third Thanksgiving at BCV. We arrive on 11/8 and stay until 12/2. Looking forward to having the entire family joining us for the week of Thanksgiving.

WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. You are going to be there A VERY LONG TIME. That is awesome. :thumbsup2 :cool1:

We're so excited for all of our firsts this Thanksgiving.

It will be our first Thanksgiving at Disney. We arrive on the 18th for 6 nights at SSR (first time staying there). We're joining our friends for Thanksgiving dinner at their OKW Grand Villa (the first time we'll see a GV... I hope it doesn't ruin the 1 bedroom experience.)

We'll be at BWV for Thanksgiving week! Hope to run into some DISers there! I called at 7 am when the window opened last May (we happened to be at BCV at the time, so maybe that helped my call go through) and managed to snag a TDay dinner ressie at LTT. No cooking for me....that kitchen can just stay as wasted space :rolleyes1

See ya at BCV! I check in there on 11/29. I'll be the solo eating all the gelato. When we return from HH, I unpack, do laundry and repack for WDW.
