Possible Trip/Rent Points Question

Potentially, we will be making a trip to Disney 12/15-12/19 (or 12/20). We would like to stay in a BWV 2 room suite std view ... IF possible. How hard is it to get one of these - and is it already too late?

We have never tried to stay ot a DVC resort, so this is all new to us. I know the Fri/Sat rates are somewhat higher. Is it better to go with another plan for those days and then use points for the rest of the stay?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated,

Ed

I'd suggest trying the rent/trade board and see what happens. The std view tend to get booked before the 7 mo mark. I.e. You'd need someone who owns at the BWV to check availability and subsequently, rent to you.

You are too late to get a standard view room of any size. There are already waitlists for at least some of the days you listed. You could probably get a Preferred View - Pool/Garden room if you make arrangements to get a reservation before the 7 month window opens in May.

Best wishes -

Even the Std View Studios? Ouch. I have posted on the Rent/Trade Forum. Now to see if I have any luck.

Believe it or not, studios book more quickly than any other size unit. You are actually trying to get a reservation for the most sought after room at the most popular time for the BWV!

Since standard view rooms make up less than 20% of the total number of units available in the resort, they tend to book up very quickly. The December standard view rooms (all sizes) are often booked as soon as the 11 month window opens.

Since most owners are not going to want to use the waitlist for renters, it's a good idea to be at least somewhat flexible with room type, size and resort if you want to go during a popular time. The Holiday time between Thanksgiving and New Year's is a difficult time to get a reservation at one of the WDW DVC resorts - especially at the VWL and both EPCOT resorts.

Good luck - hope you are successful.
