My friend has booked a trip for the second week of December 2007 using the current codes. She thinks the price is still steep and is convinced that last year, Disney released an additional discount for Winter value season. I think these latest codes are it, but does anyone think she might be right? Do you think they might possibly release more, better discounts for the season between Thanksgiving and Christmas? Thanks for your thoughts

No they won't. If you look at the code history on mousesavers, you will see that what is out now (aside from maybe a general public room only discount), there won't be anything else. And that general public code won't be any better that what is currently out.

Last year I know there was a second set of codes that came out, because that's when we booked our trip :goodvibes Unfortunately I can't remember if the rates were any better, worse or the same as the previous codes, just that we weren't ready to book in time for the first codes as we hadn't finally decided what we were doing at Xmas until October. :santa:

Per mousesavers:

Check ins between 10/30/06-12/23/06 "available to anyone" room-only code became available on 9/28/06, exp 10/29/06
Check ins between 11/1/06-12/23/06 package discounts for general public became available on 10/2/06, exp 10/31/06

Here's some more info on the second round of discounts (called the Special Dreams Offer, first offer was Season of Dreams) from a post I posted back on 10/16/2006 :goodvibes

Package Code ZDN:

 Per mousesavers.com -Package Code ZDN:

Disney Special Dreams Offer
For check-ins 11/1/06-12/23/06 you can get a special discount on a Magic Your Way vacation package. 11/19/06-11/23/06 and 12/2/06-12/8/06 may be excluded from this offer. Some hotels may have limited or no availability for certain dates.

Prices start at $369 per adult based on double occupancy at a select Disney value resort in standard room, for a 5-night/6-day package. Prices for the same package start at $217 per Junior (ages 10-17), $176 per child (ages 3-9) when they stay in a room with two adults.

The discount can be applied to a regular Magic Your Way vacation package or to a Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining.

This package offer covers some of the same dates as the previous "Season of Dreams Package" offer and offers similar rates. However, in a few cases it seems rooms at certain hotels have been opened up for discounting that were not available with the previous offer.

You must book by 10/31/06. Requires a 3-night minimum stay. The number of rooms allocated for this offer is limited. Tickets must be used within 14 days of first use unless you add the No Expiration option for an extra cost. No group rates or other discounts apply.

To give an example of the savings, just for the heck of it I priced a standard view 11/25 - 11/30 2 adults, 6 day MYW base tickets (no hopping, etc. just for comparison purposes) and it came in:

"Regular" AKL $1833.26 total ($2213.16 w/dining) vs $1383 ($1763.16 w/dining) using ZDN code = save $450.26 using code

POP $991.92 total ($1371.86 w/dining) vs $737.66 ($1117.56 w/dining) using ZDN code = save $254.26 using code

********
Room only code BRZ:

Room-Only Discount Codes

For check-ins 10/30/06-12/23/06 you can get a special discount on Walt Disney Resort hotels. 11/19/06-11/23/06 and 12/2/06-12/8/06 may be excluded from this offer. Some hotels may have limited or no availability for certain dates.

While this discount is valid at a variety of Disney Resorts, some sample prices/ night (excluding tax) include:

Wilderness Lodge with a court yard view for $245 (regular season) or $209 (value season)

Wilderness Lodge with a woods view for $210 (regular season) or $189 (value season)

Polynesian Resort with a garden view $304 (regular season)

Animal Kingdom Lodge with a pool view $205 (regular season)

Other resorts and room types are also available at varying discounts!
Book by 10/29/06. In some cases, AAA rates were better than the room-only discounted rates. Some blackout dates and other restrictions may apply. Discount codes must be thought of as a "clearance sale" -- if you want the discount, you have to be willing to take what's left over! It's important to be flexible with both dates and hotels, and to be persistent in calling back periodically to see if anything has opened up. This discount has limited availability.

Just for another example, pricing 11/25-11/30 2 adults, room only special code BRZ
AKL $1400.70 total vs $1035 using BRZ = save $365.70
POP $556.90 total vs $500.70 = save $56.20
(BTW You can't add dining to a room only res)

There was a second round of discounts, but it wasn't as good as the first set. It still was a discount though.

We have reservations at the WL for the first week of December but the public code won't attach. They keep telling me to check back frequently in case something opens up. I'm trying to use public code ZQH. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Its WL for the first week of December. Chances are that there will not be anything available for a discount in this resort. WL usually fills up at regular price so Disney doesn't need to put a discount on it. Also the first week of Dec is a "blockout" for some resorts.

Call back and see what else is available. You might be able to go to a Deluxe deluxe (rather than deluxe Lite at WL) for similar money.

I'm sorry...what is a "Deluxe deluxe" room in comparison to a "deluxe Lite".

WL and AKL have smaller rooms (only accommodate four people, plus an infant up to age 2). The other deluxes (GF, Poly, Contemp, YC/BC/BW) have larger rooms that can accommodate up to five people. There is a noticeable difference in room size at WK & AKL when compared to the other deluxes.

You get queen beds at WL and AKL, but no daybed in the regular rooms. WL and AKL also aren't as convenient to parks as the other deluxes. From the YC/BC/BW you can walk to Epcot and MGM. Monorail to MK and EC from CR/Poly/GF.

AKL and WL still have lovely theming and sit-down restaurants and interior corridors which put them into Disney's deluxe category. The pools though are not as elaborate as the other deluxes.

That's why WL and AKL are "deluxe Lite". But you don't pay as much for rooms there that you do at the other deluxes either.

OK...gotcha! I'll call and see if the other resorts have rooms that will accept the codes. THANKS SO MUCH!

cobbler, do you by any chance know what the percentage of the discount is (that you say won't be any better than what is out)? Is it better than 15%?

Thanks everyone! This is very helpful. She really wants to stay in a deluxe, preferably WL, but there weren't any rooms available with the current discount. She has a package on hold at BWI with the current discount, but will probably cancel it. I hope she finds something that she will like and she can afford! She goes down annually with her DD6 and her mom (they stayed at POR last year and didn't really like it). She just lost her father in July and it sounds like they could all use a nice trip. Thanks again for your advice!

*Definitely* keep calling back! I had trouble getting a code rate, because I *had* to stick with our specfic dates and resort, and only 2 or 3 room types. I called and struck out three times -- the fourth time, I got precisely the dates, resort and room type I wanted. (For the curious, I was 'stuck' with those dates because of our airfare, and particular resort because that's where another room in our party was staying on the 40% off code, and stuck with those lower three room types due to room #2's budget.)

So, if there are other rooms available at other resorts during your dates, then you have a decision to make -- move your ressie to the new resort on the code and keep calling back to see if WL opens up on the code after all, or just keep your current WL ressie and call back to see if anything opens up. I suppose you could just keep the WL ressie as is, and call it quits, but that kind of restraint (re: not haunting the CRO by telephone!), isn't often seen on the Disboards ;-) :-)

If it were me, and I was only booking one room, (eg didn't have others in my party to worry about), I'd be most likely to take the code wherever I was content to stay (2nd/3rd/4th choice?), and then would keep calling back to see if my first choice opened up (WL in this case).

HTH. Good luck! I hope I can share my Code-application Pixie Dust with whomever needs it :-)

What is the ZQH code?

That's one of the 'current' codes out for Nov/Dec bookings. There's one for room only rates, and one for MYW plus dining, I think. Details at mousesavers.com under Disney resorts....

subscribing because I'm interested in seeing if there actually WILL be a second code. I tried to see which code I booked with LAST December, but stupid me can't find it....oh well.

going Dec 15-22... can't use the current code because of the new 2008 rate changes. My dates fall in preholiday and holiday season.. applying the code made my price increase!! :(

Hoping another code will come out soon!
