Possible answer to loss of WDW webcams

OK,
I just got back from WDW last week. We spoke to a CM at Main Street USA, City Hall... We got to talking about the Web cmas that used to be on the Disney Site.
She said, she heard that they took them down for safety reasons...
Meaning You could track the traffic in and out of the parks, and see which parks were the busiest. They felt for security reasons, it would be better to take them down.

So this is just hearsay, but hey, it's a thought...

Also, as we were talking about security, she said that the airspace over WDW becomes more restricted as the Nation's Security Alerts go up and down... (Sounds weird..)
So as we are at Orange, the restriction Heightens.... Not sure If I belive this one.. As there were tons of planes and helicopters flying all over the property last week....

Oh well... Just some gossip...

I imagine that would be the reason. I just got back and I noticed a lot of new security cameras. You don't see them when you are just walking around but if you take a lot of video, like I do, the infra red shows up in the camera lense. There were cameras in many, many places that they were never in before.

I believe the cameras were non-operational long before 9/11. I guess that since then they decided not to bring them back up, but, I kind of doubt that is the reason they went down originally. Another one of the mysteries of WDW I guess.......

I heard when they did the big layoffs in 2001 that tech people were the first to go, including those who were working on the webcam project, they were working to upgrade them. They last worked on 5/25/01, you can still see them here:

I was going to say that I thought they were stopped before 9/11 but I couldn't remember for sure. It is convenient to blame all cost cutting on 9/11 then they don't sound like pencil necked geek bean counters. I am an accountant so I can say that.
