Portable fan for the parks?

Does anyone use portable hand-held fans in the parks to keep cool? Is there a fan you would recommend?

It's supposed to be really hot when we are there and with then having to wear a mask too, I'm looking at all my options to help keep cool.

I just got a hanging neck fan from Amazon for my upcoming trip, so I haven't used it in the parks yet. But I'm looking forward to having some air moving around my face while keeping my hands free!

You'll see a lot of people with the neck fans in the summer. We have some from Amazon - they were super cheap and fold down small.

We have the little $5 neck fans from Walmart (the square ones on a lanyard). They’ve been to Disney many times and countless ball tournaments. Have not had one fail yet and they are many years old. Totally worth it.

We liked the water spraying one for our trip in September. They sold them at the park but you can probably find them on amazon too.

We have these fans. They can last all day and in a pinch, they can charge your phone.

Yes my daughters use them all the time. We have the ones that you can hang around your neck or expand the base and set them down on a table top. They can be recharged using the same portable chargers as our phones use. I think we got them off Amazon as well.

Used one of these yesterday when the real feel was 104. It was wonderful. Since the fans are adjustable, you can put them where they do the best job for you. For me that was pointed at my temples. Really helped to keep the internal temp tolerable

Yes yes, 100000% yes! I had a portable fan for my very hot and humid trip in September and it saved me!

Yeah I sometimes wonder if the Imagineer's who design the ques have ever been to Florida between April and October? I get the older rides with all outdoor ques and the need for social distancing has extend the lines.

Worst wait we had was Dinosaur... been going since it opened and never seen the area around "side" of the building. But clearly hasn't been used much, as it didn't have any fans.

I have one of the hand-held folding ones and it's a lifesaver to me. I've never tried the neck ones so I can't be sure I prefer hand-held, but I chose it because more than just my face gets hot. There are times you need to put it away because you need your hands, and with the neck one you wouldn't have to do that, but most of the time I use it just standing in line and have no need to keep my hands free. I like that I can move it anywhere I want. I spend a lot of time with it angled up the back of my shirt or down the front of it, as my back and bosom areas tend to sweat a lot. It may look a little funny but it feels so good and I honestly don't think anyone is judging me. I'll even aim it down the back of my shorts or up the legs; I have no shame! Between the fan and a UV umbrella, waiting in line is not that bad. At first I used it as sparingly as possible because I was worried about the charge, but so far it's never run out, even when I use it as much as I want. I also bring the charging cord just in case. These days, I wouldn't go to the parks in April through October without my foldable fan and my UV umbrella.

I have 3 handheld little fans from Target I got about 3 years ago. Uses batteries and can put water in them (though very small amount). I don't put water in them. They work well.

It’s not an either/or proposition. No one is saying fans are a replacement for that, but they help a lot.

OP, I picked up the neck fan others mentioned. I have some lightweight handheld ones that are really powerful also. I would just stay away from misting fans because masks become less effective when wet.

Someone in our group had one of those fans that sprays water during our last Disney trip. Most of us found it useless and spraying water on yourself doesn't make you feel any cooler, just wet & clammy. Also becomes one more thing to lug around all day when at the parks. I agree with others who suggest drinking more water, wear comfortable clothing and avoid the hottest times of the day.

Great information, thank you! I am already taking lightweight and breathable clothing along on our trip and we are bringing water along with free cups available too. Because we can't drink in the ques, I need to make sure we take time to sit and drink water. I will be checking into those fans! Thank you! Your feedback was very helpful!
