Kids are asking for a portable DVD player to take in the car.
I'm assuming it's going to get dropped ALOT (DS 10 and DD 3).

I need suggestions! Good and bad problems, too!! :confused3

We worried about this issue too....we bought a dvd carrier at target and the carrier connects to the back of the headrest so it is not moved really at all, plus easy to take inside...

I had a set for my car and they strapped around the back of the headrest and also didn't move very much. DD ended up breaking it getting in and out of the car, my guess is it was hit to many times with her backpack getting in and out at school. She also has a portable one (actually mine) that she uses now and just folds up and puts in the back pocket of the backseat and it seems to be holding up well.

DD6 has one that we bought from Overstocks for about $50 a few years ago. Suprisingly it has held up very well. We travel with it all the time, it is worth every penny and I figured the intial investment wasnt huge so its given us plenty if it were to break now.

I wish I could give you better advice, but I feel like we have gone through a bunch of these.

My best advice is probably to get them somewhere that sells an extended warranty. The last time I got mine at Sam's club and paid the extra $30 or so to get the warranty and was really glad I did when I had to get new ones within a year.
