Just posting to say I got my Mickey Mail today!!!!

We got ours Saturday, as well!:goodvibes

Checking in four weeks from today, early in the morning since we'll be in St. Pete over the weekend before our WDW stay. If all goes according to plan, I'll be just finishing up my ride on Soarin' about this time. . . well, 28 days from now, but you know what I mean. ;)

You should initially put your requests in your original booking, but it's also worth sending a direct fax at around 3-5 days out - these are definitely read at Port Orleans at least, although I can't comment about other resorts. See http://www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php.
Andre

Thanks Andre, I was hoping they still read the faxes. My question is what is the magical day, day 3, 4, or 5? Or does it really matter just within those three days? We arrive on Saturday so my 5 day begins tomorrow.

Thanks!!!

I know there were a lot of questions about requests for rooms but please just 1 more??
Our TA said she could not put a request in when we made ressies other than to upgrade to Royal riverview(Not really a special request, we paid for it). Should I still try for a request when I get 5 days out or will it be too late?:confused3 I really want an upper floor room. I was hoping that if we checked in early enough I might stand a chance, but flight time got moved and we don't arrive at MCO until 12:35.
Planning on new TA for next trip, as this is not the first thing to go wrong with plans. :(

I have a few questions regarding the bus service after reading the portorleans fan website. It states that in the morning(before 1030am) buses that hit the south depot usually head out straight to the parks then there is a seperate bus that will do the loop around the resort. First question is which one of these buses shares service with the POFQ?

2nd question is I requested a room in the AB, but there are no preferred rooms available for my stay. I also had to take a garden view room to get the free dining. Would it be best to try and request building 16 as well? I'm looking specifically at bus service here and being closest to the best bus stop in terms of not waiting long/or possible having a full bus show up and either having to stand or wait for another bus. Thanks!

^^^^ditto for me. I asked this before though and don't think anyone knew. Where the bus stops are was a big reason I wanted to try a moderate this time instead of a value. The value buses are soooo far away!

Bus locations for every resort vary from week to week as their location.

Value resorts are NOT the farthest away, despite the fact that some people think they are. For instance, at DHS, Pop is one of the closest, while GF was one of the farthest the week I was there.

Never pick a resort based on bus location at the parks, since it will vary week to week. Also, some bus drivers will drop you off at the first stop and then indicate where your pick-up point is located. Some will drop you off at the pick-up point. For sister resorts, like POR/POFQ, they will drop you off at the common spot in the morning and then tell you POFQ will leave from there, while POR will be in spot no. ......

Again, never assume that values are the farthest and deluxes are the closest. You will be very disappointed when you get there and find out it is totally different.

You can make requests like upper floor, close to pool, close to parking....that doesn't depend on booking category.

You cannot call directly until the TA hands over the reservation to you and gives you the booking code.

You can always call as soon as she turns the ressie over to you and then reiterate it at the time of check-in.

If your TA told you that, I would get another TA next time who speaks "Disney."

Thank you guys soooo much:goodvibes
I learn something new everyday on these boards! I was just thinking it was an added perk, but I will LOVE it I am sure no matter how far we walk:banana:

Arrive at our room and surprise our girls:)

Hello! I hope you had a wonderful vacation. How bad was the walk from that location? We are seriously considering the Royal Rooms for our next vacation in May 2013. With the heat, and long days at the park - I am worried about the walks back to the Royal Rooms. Last time we stayed at French Quarter because of the small size. My daughter was 4 at the time and will be 8 the next time. Should I pay extra for a water view - looks to be closer to the bridge to the food court/buses.

Any info would be great!

Thanks!!

Just had to post and say we will be leaving for POR in 26 days!!!!!!!!! Beyond excited.

Waterview might not be any closer, as it's basically pool view. River view would put you facing the river. First floor would be better too, so you're not walking to the middle elevators if you didn't feel like the stairs. Just a suggestion though. I had a garden view room at the back of Magnolia Terrace near the back end of the resort (It's not a Royal room, but the one next door would be fairly similar) and it was a very quick walk to the bus stop. That was nice.

Yay, we are officially booked for June 2013 preffered location! So excited!, now the waiting begins.

OMG! 17 days to go and I am getting so anxious. Really worried about packing and sending a box ahead of time. Can't believe our trip is almost here!!

You will not belie e how quickly it will get here.

Enjoy every single minute.

I am enjoying it! This trip is long overdue. It's our 10th Anniversary and so much has happened in our lives since our last trip. We have had a particularly rough last couple of years including losing my mom to cancer and dementia last August. My heart will be happy once we get safely to WDW. My twins are going to be out of their minds!

I am so sorry you had to deal with that. I hope, just like me, the minute you walk through those doors, you will be immersed.

I have often asked one of the CM's out front just to say, "Welcome home."

Also please take the twins to Yee-hah Bob in the lounge and tell Todd, John, and Holly that Dawn from Delaware says hello.

Have a magical trip!

Thanks for the kind words. We are eating at Boatwright's and catching Bob our arrival night. We might also have a mini DIS meet with Andre and another guest later that week at Bob's show.

Thanks Siskaren, that was the exact info I was looking for. Much appreciated!!!

I have a few questions about leaving a package for a guest that has not yet arrived but will in a day or two. Who do I leave the package with? What information do I put on the package? Will they have packing tape I can use (I'm buying it at Disney world so I can't pack it up at home). Its a small box about the size of a large box of facial tissue.

Hey Stan long time... You can leave it with front desk and have them put a note on the reservation for who ever checks them in that there is something for them at front desk. They are pretty good with that.
