Port Orleans Riverside FAQ thread --- 2012, Part Two --- NOW CLOSED

In a few weeks I will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside. I'm thinking about upgrading from a Garden View to either a Water or River view room. Do any of these rooms have balconies or patios? I'm trying to justify the upgrade, but if there's no view other than through a window, I don't know if I would be willing to pay the extra $118 to $157 for this upgrade.

Who has stayed in these types of rooms and how did you like it?

They have external walkways that wrap the exteriors of the buildings. It's not private, but you can set your chairs in front of your door and see the water. The second floor has the walkway kind of like a balcony, again shared by everyone walking to and from the rooms. But there is room for you to set chairs outside the door.

Whew! Finally made it thru the entire thread. It is hard to switch resorts after a year of planning on staying at another. :)

It is funny how most of the questions have to do with view/location of room. The room is probably where you will spend the least amount of your time! :lmao:

I think at any moderate, (except maybe FQ because it's so small), location beats view every time.

I would have taken a parking lot view in the Cabanas or Casitas at the CSR over the lovely courtyard back in Siberia, (Ranchos 6B), gladly.

Just posting to say I got my Mickey Mail today!!!!

How exciting! I don't go until September, I'm still 50+ days out. I can't wait to get mine!!

Does anyone know if there is a boat schedule? What time does it start running, last boat of the day? Does it run directly to DTD or make other stops? How long is the trip?

We will be there the week between xmas and NY and we have a couple dinner reservations in DTD one being on NYE. Wondering how much time we need to allow to get there and if there is a schedule of what time the boats leave to time it properly.

TIA!!

We always pay for a Preferred room location to reduce the walking required of our differently-abled child. When I booked our Dec. 10 thru 16 trip w/free dining only Water View was available.

Are there Water View rooms available in the Preferred buildings?

We have stayed in buildings 14 & 15 here on past trips. Thanks for your thoughts/suggestions.

We are hoping to stay at POR this December. We will probably be there December 10 - 16 since free dining starts then. If we wanted to arrive Dec. 9, could we do a 1 night room only ressie and stay in the same room for our ressie with free dining beginning the 10th? Does that make sense?

Hi, just a quick question. I noticed in the pics of the renovated rooms that there is a panel of ports to the tv. Can anyone specify the types of ports offered? I am planning on using my laptop as a DVD player and I want to make sure to bring the right cables. Thanks.

Yes you can do a room only for that night, and the answer to can you stay in the same room is maybe. Sometimes they just check you in and out and you don't have to move, sometimes they move you.

^^^^ditto for me. I asked this before though and don't think anyone knew. Where the bus stops are was a big reason I wanted to try a moderate this time instead of a value. The value buses are soooo far away!

I'm still here, quietly sitting in the threads corner drinking my coffee, getting excited for everyone :teeth:

My DD11 is so excited about the resort - she wants to do a photoshoot there with two of her dolls who's story is they come from New Orleans :)

I know, I think I am being petty... But after you walk 12 miles a day in a park... You DON'T wanna go allllllllllthe way to the very end. That was one of the reasons my hubby got so pumped :):thumbsup2

I just am trying to wait on my Mickey mail:cool1:Patiently

Out of curiousity, does anyone know where the bus stops are for POR at each of the parks?

It does vary (sometimes buses are shared and there will be one stop for both POR/POFQ, sometimes they are separate) but mostly they do seem to be the further stops. :(
