When I look at the pictures of the refurbed rooms (including pictures of people actually lounging on the beds), I SWEAR they don't look like Queens. They really look (to my eye) like Doubles. I honestly don't doubt people when they say that's a queen sized bed, they just look smaller than my queen at home (which is a standard, ordinary, queen).

What gives? Legit queens and my eyes and brain are being fooled? Or something else?

It's because the headboards in the Royal Rooms are so big. The headboards at the Poly are very tall too and it makes the beds look smaller.

Thanks for the info. I like to unpack everything and put the suitcases away so we have more room. We go for 12 days, so we have a lot of clothes. DH usually keeps all his stuff in the closet area (on the shelf or hanging) and I guess each kid will work with one drawer each.

We brought hangers our first trip, but we've never seemed to need them. We drive, so I can always fit a few in for some shirts for DH & I.

I was planning to use the small shelves near the fridge for food.

This is a great idea. I actually have two of these. I will definitely bring them. Thanks!

For the organizers, can you slip the end over the rod or does it have to have a hook like a hanger?
Thanks!

The date is 10/1/1971. It's the day the Magic Kingdom opened.

The date on the furniture is 10191971, if it is a date. By American standards that would be October 19, 1971. Walt Disney World opened October 1, 1971 and was dedicated October 25, 1971 but I don't know the significance of October 19.

Will someone let me know how the pool crowd (main pool ole man island) was in Mid to late June this year? Pictures would be great. I am planning our 2013 return to POR and will be going a little later in the month than our last trip. We usualy hit the pool in the late afternoon. 3:30 pm- 5 or 6 pm.
Thanks!

Ahh thanks I knew it was something along those lines.

After looking at a video of it again it's LHMC101971 so yes that would be for October 1971. At first I read it as MM/DD/YR but it's just MM/YEAR with no day. So that makes sense now.

Is anybody watching the opening ceremonies for the Olympics? The fireworks with Pink Floyd playing in the background was beyond WOW :thumbsup2

Right now listening to Paul McCarthy and loving it :goodvibes

I am right there with you! Amazing & memorable.

So excited to stay here in Jan. I have stayed at POFQ and loved it. I am even more excited to stay here. My son is so excited to sleep on the trundle bed. The things that excite children. LOL!

We are heading to POR in September. My parents, my sister and my brother, sister in law and their 4 kids (one an infant). Sooooo excited!!!
I had read on this thread, to do a room request, to send a fax a few days before explaining we'd like to be near each other in bldg whatever in AB. I recently read in another thread that there is absolutely no way faxes get read and they are thrown out. Any point in faxing?? Or should we just leave it as a request on the reservation? Thanks in advance, you are all so helpful!!

Your requests should be placed on your reservation. The new computer system installed about 2 years ago automatically sorts the requests. There is no need to look at faxes. Link your reservations and you have a bdtter chance of getting adjoining rooms.

Enjoy!

Send me a pm tomorrow and I'll see what can be done.

In a few weeks I will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside. I'm thinking about upgrading from a Garden View to either a Water or River view room. Do any of these rooms have balconies or patios? I'm trying to justify the upgrade, but if there's no view other than through a window, I don't know if I would be willing to pay the extra $118 to $157 for this upgrade.

Who has stayed in these types of rooms and how did you like it?

Mods do not have balconies or patios.

I stayed in a riverview room and absolutely enjoyed it. I pulled my chair out every night and watched the water taxi go by, but I was about 30 feet away. There is no guarantee you will be riverfront.

You should initially put your requests in your original booking, but it's also worth sending a direct fax at around 3-5 days out - these are definitely read at Port Orleans at least, although I can't comment about other resorts. See http://www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php.

Leaving for the airport soon! Should be at POR by 2:30 this afternoon. SOOOOOOOOOO excited to stay at this resort for the first time! :dance3:
