We have booked a preferred room and would like to be near the main bldg, bus stop and the main pool. I had requested bldg 14 but now I am second guessing myself that perhaps I should request bldg 18 so that we can a bit more of a resort like feel to our stay. Would it really be more than a couple of minutes additional walk to the amenities? Would the "views" be better?:flower3:

First trip in 2009 we stayed at POFQ in bldg 5 and it was the perfect balance of quiet proximity to the amenities!

Any thoughts, experiences welcome. Thank you!!!

You gotta love it, where on the Disboards, we are more informed than the CM's employed by Disney.

The "chair" beds are going to be in AoA when they open.

I did a survey for disney online when I was checking out my reservations and balances due. I told them I get more indepth & accurate info from disboards than I do on the actual disney website :confused3

Since the main building is never more than a fifteen minute walk from any building, going from building 14 to building 18 isn't going to be much different in time.

I like building 18's location since it is closer to the quiet pool. Get the best of both worlds.

I would prefer 14 but it really makes no difference 14-18. We were in 17 in June and it was only a couple of minutes more to the main building from 18 but it would be great from 14. We were at the parks all the time and only swam once and never opened curtains for the view so for convience stick with14. A note - things are not as spread out as the map makes you believe. Great choice staying AB. Nice resort feel. Good luck on your trip.

When we were there last June(2011) we wanted to book a bounceback for June 2013 and were told we must book for sometime in 2012. Bummer!

You can only book a room only 499 days in advance to begin with, and it has to be a room-only until the rates are released each August.

So, bounceback or regular booking, you couldn't book anything two years out anyway.

I have a shipping question I hope someone can help me with. We arrive for our first visit at POR next week (:yay:) and I'm ordering water from Costco to have delivered to us. I've done this in the past to CBR with no problems. The issue with POR seems to be that Costco won't deliver to the PO Box address and when I enter the 1251 Riverside Drive address, it isn't recognized. I'm also shipping a UPS package to us there and the UPS site also doesn't recognize the 1251 Riverside Drive address.

If I go ahead and use the "unrecognized" street address, will my deliveries get there?

Thank you!!

I'm pretty sure there is a sticky thread at the top of the resorts forum about shipping to resorts.

Yes, thank you. I read it and used Andre's site to get both the street and package delivery addresses. I guess my main issue is that certain vendors won't allow me to use the PO Box as the shipping address, and when I use the street address is comes up as invalid (I even called to confirm the address and 1251 Riverside Drive is right).

So, the question I'm really asking (and obviously should have made more clear in my first post) is if other people have successfully shipped to POR using the street address. This thread seemed the best place to ask that. If not, I apologize.

I've used the POR street address with Amazon and a couple of other retailers and it has worked fine. I believe that most courier companies (DHL, Fedex, etc) will deliver to the direct addresses, whereas the post office usually tend to drop everything off at the PO Box central location and let Disney sort it out from there. Either way works anyway.

can anyone tell me if they have hairdryers in POR rooms? Thanks!

Yes. From the first FAQ post in the thread:

What facilities are in the rooms?

All rooms include: phone, TV, clock, small fridge (no freezer compartment), bathtub/shower, toilet, two wash basins, table & two chairs, bedside table, cabinet with drawers (beneath the TV), air conditioning & ceiling fan, cabled internet access ($9.95 for 24 hours), small wall-safe, coffee maker (four-cup basket filter type, supplied with free coffee), hair dryer, iron & ironing board, clothes hanging rail. In mid-December 2011, FREE in-room wi-fi internet access was introduced throughout the Port Orelans resorts.

Thanks! Now I can rest assured that the oh-so-important water, granola bars and cheese-filled pretzel sandwiches will get to us. :thumbsup2

We are checking in at POR six weeks from yesterday! :cool1: There is a group of us Disers who are planning a POR dismeet on March 8th at 9pm at the Yeeha Bob show...will you be there then? If not, we are probably gonna bump into each other at some point. :thumbsup2

This is our first time at POR. I read on this thread that it has a hot tub, but have not seen that information anywhere else. For anyone who has stayed here before...does it indeed have a hot tub? I would LOVE that...my family swims when the air and water are cool, but I will not, air has to be HOT or the water. I am a wimp. :lmao:

Yes, POR does have a hot tub. You know what...Ive never gotten in it either! :rotfl:
"The main feature pool at Riverside is a fun swimming area with waterfalls to duck under and a curved slide to hurtle down, along with sun beds and a pool bar for the adult aprés-swim time. There is also a separate shallow children’s pool and a jacuzzi hot tub right next to the main pool area."

That comes from portorleans.org If you havent checked it out yet, I strongly suggest you do, it is a great resource.
