Port Orleans French Quarter FAQ thread - Refurbished for 2011 - Now CLOSED

I could have sworn I posted this question here earlier today, but I guess not. I keep darting back to Disney's site to check for avaliable reservations and must have thought I did.

To anyone who has stayed here in the past few months, do you know if the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory serves hot food when they open? Or are they like the Riverside Mills at POR and start hot food an hour later at 7am?

Yep, I do that all the time with Amazon US. Address it with your full name and your arrival date on the package as well as the resort address, and aim for it to get there about the same time you do, giving two weeks for it to be delayed.

What is the latest on whether the resort will charge for these types of packages? I haven't had to pay a charge on previous trips, however I seem to recall scuttle that this is or was going to change. TIA :goodvibes

I recall reading that if an item was shipped to the PO Box - there would be a charge to have it delivered to CSR. CSR seemed to be more focused on the business/conference types of guests where this additional charge would be expensed to a company for reimbursment. Just IMO. I do not know what the previous poster is purhasing from Amazon or Ebay; but, it would not be wise to ship perishables or have your Garden Grocer deliver to a PO Box.

Here is a delightful thread with many Q&A on shipping what kinds of things to where. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2437212

I just called to make my reservation for Nov 28-Dec 4 and there were no rooms available with the military discount. :sad1:

Anyone had any luck calling back for cancellations?

No charge as far as I know. They'll give it to you when you check in, or call you when it arrives and you just pick it up from the front desk.

Andre

Thanks - glad to hear it!

Thanks, also! We've stayed several times at CSR, so that may be what I was recalling. I have bookmarked the thread you posted the link to...good info!

I am going to POFQ in just under 2 weeks and looking forward to a fun, if short, holiday (4 nights only).

We were last at WDW in 2005 when we stayed at POP and used the refillable mugs and are planning on buying new ones this round as well.

I can't find anywhere, however, what the drink options are? When we stayed at POP my husband and son LOVED the slushie drinks. Do they still have those?

Also, we like things a little on the quiet side. Would building 6 be a good request for something a little more secluded, without guaranteeing us parking lot views?

You need to prepare your DH and son, those slushie drinks are no longer available at Pop (that's the only resort that ever had them). They were very popular and I guess after awhile, the machines were broken more often than they were working. They took them out a couple years ago.

The drink options are Coke products, coffee & tea.

When we were at POFQ in September 2010 there were no slushie options. Just fountain drinks, coffee and hot chocolate (and maybe iced tea, not sure).

We were in Building 6, first floor. It is a great location if you want a bit of quiet. The rooms either face the interior streets, river, or a courtyard - nothing looking at a parking lot!

darn! Oh well, no worries, they are not something I really like much as I tend to the sensitive teeth....ha ha ha.

Thanks for everyones help. My DH can order his blurays from amazon now without the worry of them not getting to the hotel ( i hope ):yay:

Just make sure that you only order BluRays that are compatible with your BluRay player's region code. Your DH may already be aware, or may even have multi-region playback options, but I'd hate you to buy a load of Region A locked discs and find that your player only supports Region B. Many disc releases are not locked any more, but there are still a good number which are.

Andre

My DH has both regions ( 1 player, 1 PS3 ) but thanks for thinking of us
It means of course he can start spending the holiday money before we even get there!!!. Good thing we have our own spending money

Well I just had my TA switch my reservation from the Pop to POFQ. I am hoping this was the right decision. There wasn't too much difference in price and I keep hearing about the Pop being noisey.

I guess I will find out if POFQ is noisey in Sept.

We have found the resort to be quite peaceful. If you ask to be located in bldg 3 or 4, you will be close to the main areas, but away from the pool and the noise that goes with that area. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do! :thumbsup2

Thanks for that information. My TA asked for a preferred room, where ever those are located.

Does anyone know if they will be showing movies 3 nights a week at POFQ, they did this when we stayed at WL, and DS 5, loved it

Just got back from my first trip to WDW and we stayed at POFQ. Mousekeeping was wonderful as was all of the staff. I especially liked the doorman. So colorful! We were in building 3 and it was very quiet. I was worried about the beds at POFQ because I have some joint issues, but I found them very comfortable. We had some time before our plane left yesterday, so we went to POP to check it out and found it, as expected, full of children. We ate lunch at POP's food court and it was noisy, but I liked the selection of food. We would stay at POFQ anytime!
