Can you rent or request for free a microwave for the room? Last year at CSR we just had to call and they brought one up within 10 minutes to use for our entire stay at no cost to us and I wasn't sure if it was the same here.

Thanks for that information. My TA asked for a preferred room, where ever those are located.

There are no preferred rooms at POFQ, I hope your TA hasn't charged you anything extra for them!

Does anyone know if they will be showing movies 3 nights a week at POFQ, they did this when we stayed at WL, and DS 5, loved it

Yes, POFQ are currently running outdoor movies on Weds, Fri and Sat, not sure whether it's just a summer thing though as this is the first year they have done it.

There is no official procedure for this, not sure whether they have any available or not. Seems like a possible fire hazard to me, but if CSR did it maybe POFQ can too? There are microwaves in both the POR and POFQ food courts though.

I have a question about breakfast in the food court. I'm frequently the first person up and dressed in my party. Would it be possible/make sense for me to go to the food court, purchase some breakfast items for my family, and bring them back to our room? There is only my husband, my preschool age son, and I in my party, so it wouldn't necessarily be too much to carry.

We may just do simple breakfasts in our room (fruit from garden grocer, cereal, milk), but at least one or two days, I know I'm going to want beignets!

Thanks!

Absolutely, we do that all the time. I'm the first one up in our group too, so I'm often the breakfast carrier while the others are (hopefully!) getting showered, dressed, etc. Or sometimes, they all just stay in bed, LOL. Mousekeeping will take the tray away for you when they clean the room, so make sure anything you want to keep is put away.

We have found the resort to be quite peaceful. If you ask to be located in bldg 3 or 4, you will be close to the main areas, but away from the pool and the noise that goes with that area. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do! :thumbsup2

Last year we were in Building 2, facing the pool. We didn't hear a sound from the pool area! It was as quiet and peaceful there as it was on the other side of the building (were we stayed the previous year).

my wife and I get up a half hour or so before waking the kids. I'll get her a drink and something for us to snack on like beignets or a croissant. If we're heading to rope drop we stop at the food court and grab something to snack on while waiting at the park. The benefit of the size of the resort is that everything is a short walk.

We will be there Monday. I look forward to the refurbed rooms.

I want a room near pool and near food court and bus....thinking Bldg 4 or 5....any advice? I have mobility issues so I will have an ECV but we have the kids whoa er 10 and 2 and my DD says she doesn't want to walk too far to get to room after the park all day. I always ask for first floor and have always gotten that at any resort so hopefully will this time too.

We arrive on Tuesday...see you there!

I am also looking forward to refurbed rooms...we were there in Feb. 2011, but got an "old" room. :)

It's Official:

Hubby and I are going to enjoy our first stay at POFQ:

April 22-April 27th

Can't wait!!

wanted to share, I will be at POFQ in 30 days, received my Disney packet in the mail yesterday. :cool1:
My DD and I are celebrating her graduation from HS and her 18th birthday.
I showed her the packet and she actually started jumping up and down:yay: and then I think she realized what she was doing and stopped. Guess it isn't cool to be a recent HS grad and get excited about going to Disney World with you mother.:confused3

In 47 days myself and my two DD's 19 & 23 will be at POFQ. Even though they're both currently studying abroad, the MAJOR topic of Skype conversation is our Disney trip. Hope none of our kids ever get too old to enjoy the magic!

Just returned yesterday from a weeks stay at the POFQ and it was our first time! :lovestruc Thanks to all of those that answered my questions over the past few months! :thumbsup2

We truly loved POFQ and had a great time there. I was the most worried about my DS (7) liking it as much as the POP but he quickly fell in love. He loved the slide and they actually went swimming every day.

We had building 4 (room 4324) and I would absolutely request it again in a heartbeat. We had a standard view which meant we were facing the "parking lot" but it doesn't feel like a parking lot view, it's more of a courtyard view as many of you have commented. The only negative to this area is the garbage trucks come very early (4-5am) and naturally when they back up all you hear is the beeping sound so this might wake you up. "Luckily" because it was so hot, the air conditioning was running most of the time so it drowned it out but if you're a light sleeper, you might hear it like I did every day. The refurbed rooms are lovely and it was nice to have the two sinks and extra area getting ready (compared to the POP). We still love the POP but it will be hard to get my DS and DH back over there after the POFQ!

We took the boat to Downtown Disney at least 3 or 4 times and this was simply awesome! :thumbsup2 There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when the busses share with POR (and they still do) so just be prepared because it easily added another 15-30 minutes to the trip. The morning we headed to EPCOT at 8:10am, it went to POR and we didn't arrive until 8:40am and it usually took around 10 minutes to get there directly from POFQ. The only other time it shared leaving POFQ was going to Hollywood Studios around 4:30pm. It took us over an hour to get to Hollywood Studios due to the stops at POR and an already full bus. We did rope drop every morning and the bus was pretty full from POFQ guests. As others have stated, it was nice for POFQ to always be the first to drop off! We don't have any complaints with the busses, but the extra stops can add a lot more time if you have an ADR so just be warned :)

My DS fell in love with Arneil and they had lots of great talks together. Arneil really took a liking to my DS and gave us lots of nice compliments on our DS which made me smile.

Add us to the POFQ fan club!!

As I mentioned above, we absolutely LOVED building 4 and I would not hesitate to request it. Based on what you've described, it seems perfect for you too! :)

I have a similar situation; about three weeks after my wonderful next door neighbors asked me to take them this year - he got his orders to go to Afghanistan.

He left at the end of May and will be home about three weeks before we leave. I have been doing all the planning and she says their major conversations over Skype are the trip; it makes the entire experience bearable.

We have been planning and planning she is already working on her scrapbook. We sat down one afternoon and did our schedule. She is the middle child and has never had me for more that a few hours all to herself, so she really is excited. She actually asked for a trip to Disney with just me. Made me very happy.

I can't imagine being separated from my girls. My oldest lives 7 hours away and that is really too far. It must be really hard for you being away from your kids.

Hope you guys have a great trip.

I guess I mis-spoke, my TA booked us something other than a standard room. So is there a room with "view" category? I totally trust my TA she is also a good friend of mine.

We normally stay at the Poly, but this is a birthday present to myself and I am leaving the kids at home with dh. My sister and a good friend are coming with me.

I have enjoyed learning about POFQ from everyone.

IF things work out for us $$$-wise, we'll be there from the 16 - 27. I got a PIN today for August but it said in the email to call for other dates so I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.

The extra view options at POFQ are as follows (2012 daily upgrade rates, the 2011 prices are a couple of dollars lower):

Garden View: +$11 (only available from Jan 2012 onwards)
King Bed: +$28
Water View: +$28
River View: +$34

A great bottomline on why POFQ is the best moderate and why we picked it.

The bottom line is that the French Quarter will allow you to spend more time where you want to be – the theme parks.

First, the French Quarter is the smallest of the Moderates, which means rooms are close to points of interest.

Second, transportation is key. You don’t want to spend any more time on Disney buses than you have to and the French Quarter is by far the best in the transportation category. During peak times, the French Quarter will have dedicated bus transportation and won’t have to share with the Riverside, another plus. The scenic boat ride to Downtown Disney is also a nice bonus.

Downside – no table service dining and the pool maybe consider more childish.

Well, I have actually done this. When we were there in February 2011, I had no problems getting a Microwave for our room. We had "Microwave or the refurb'd building closest to the food court due to medical needs" listed in our ressies, and they told us that a Microwave shouldn't be a problem. The even upgraded us to a "river view" corner room.

Someone delivered the Microwave within a few minutes of getting our bags, directly after check-in. I was very happy to have an in-room Cooker so DH didn't have to trek down to the food court everytime he needed to eat something!
