French Quarter is a VERY small resort compared to Riverside (or Movies - I see you've stayed there too) and you shouldn't have an issue - especially if you ask. If you look at this map http://www.portorleans.org/frenchquarter-info.php - with the way the resort is layed out, you could ask for any building that is along the "main street" that goes through the resort (I don't remember the name of the road!) - so building 4, 6, a section of 5, 2 or even parts of 3.
I think so long as you don't get a riverview you should be fine.

A note about Riverside - mind you, I've never stayed here - but if you look at the map http://www.portorleans.org/riverside-info.php there are some close buildings to the main hall, but nothing as close as French Quarter has. Riverside limits you to building 14, and parts of Oak and Parterre...

The scale on the maps help a bunch in seeing small the French Quarter really is. :-)

Have a great trip!

Thank you so much for that. I had seen one map but it was not done to scale and Riverside only looked a little bigger then French Quarter. We're planning on booking on the first when DH gets his pay check so when I call to book I'm going to ask about it. I'm really hoping they can meet all of her medical needs.

FQ is much smaller and there are many rooms that are close to the main building. :thumbsup2

There is a department at Disney that handles guests with special needs/disabilities. I would suggest that when you call Disney to book, you then request to be connected to that department. From what I understand, they will ensure your family's needs are met. :goodvibes

Here's the info from the website:

ACCOMMODATIONS FOR GUESTS

All Walt Disney World Resort hotels offer rooms that accommodate Guests with disabilities. Features vary depending upon your selected Disney Resort hotel. For information specific to individual resorts, please call: General Reservations Phone: (407) W-DISNEY Special Reservations Line: (407) 939-7807 TTY Line: (407) 939-7670

This thread is making me sooooooooooooooo excited!!! 8 weeks tomorrow and we arrive for 14 glorious days! POFQ wasn't necessarily my first choice but had the best deal for a mod from the UK and I am now really glad it was as it sounds so fab. We have stayed at POR before and loved it and am looking forward to the small resort of FQ but being able to walk over to Riverside Mill for pasta as we just loved that!!

So excited!!

We stayed at both Riverside and French Quarter and while Oak in Riverside appears to be close to the main building, nothing in the French Quarter except maybe buildings 1, 6 and 7 are far from the main building that houses the bus and food court. Perhaps some of the more recent guests may have other feedback as well. Best of luck to you.

You are in for a treat. :) We fell so in love with this resort last year that our Poly split stay was canned in favor of 15 nights at POFQ - again. And I doubt it will be our last stay there. It looks like we have found our 'home' resort :thumbsup2 Enjoy the last of your countdown. :goodvibes

I was wondering if the fridge has a freezer part in it?
64 more days til DD and I go to celebrate her graduation and 18th birthday.
thanks

Nope, sorry. Mind you, the backs of some of the fridges are so cold that they ice up, which might help.

Just posting to see my ticker...it's been awhile. I can't believe I'm actually saying this but I can't wait for summer to be almost over so I can go to Disney already.

We just returned from POFQ on Thursday. :) I'll be doing a full trip report later this week, but wanted to pop into this thread to mention that we were a little disappointed in our stay this time. In hindsight, we should have asked to move rooms after the first night. We had a king size room, ground level, building 1, room 1123. We thought the river view would be great, but in this location, it wasn't. The noise of the boats rounding the bend was constant, and the pathway right outside the room was constantly busy with the little resort golf carts and service vehicles.

For those considering requesting River View... I strongly recommend asking that it not be in building #1.

Just got back last night from our stay we were in building 7 paid for standard room got river view very peaceful. We had a few issues with the room fridge would not keep things cold and the water in the tub would not drain was taken care of promptly when we called and a great big thanks to the CM who came and retrieved my gd earrings from the sink drain she just purchased . I wanted to let management know about this before I left but did not is there a email address I could sent this big kudos to

So is anyone going to be there for Tuesday 17 May, which is Port Orleans French Quarter's 20th Anniversary?

By the way, I've just created a Birthday Message for the resort over on my Port Orleans website. If anyone has enjoyed a stay at Port Orleans (either section) at any time over the past 20 years, please feel free to pop by and add a short comment.

Andre

Thanks so much for starting and maintaining this thread and the website you have focused on Port Orleans. It is such a treat for so many of us who love these resorts. Thanks Andre.

I love both sides. My very first time was at POR. Then the next year the boat was not running, and many of the rooms at POR & POFQ were closed due the slow economy. I tried CBR and loved it too. Spent a few years going there. Then I finally tried POFQ for the first time...just my favorite now:yay:

Last August I took my DGD for her 16th birthday and we couldn't have the FQ but Riverside was available and it was so nice to be back. But still love the FQ and will be there this coming Oct. Hate to wish the summer away, but I can't wait;)

Hi all...just wanted to let everyone know really quick. Just returned from POFQ on Saturday after 10 glorious days. I LOVE LOVE LOVE FQ and cant wait to get back. If you have any questions about the resort or anything please feel free to ask and i will do my best to answer. im planning on doing a mini trip report a bit later with some more detail. But we had such a great time!

Just want to add....we did online check in and received the connecting rooms that we requested and we were also upgraded to a river view!! what a beautiful surprise that was when we got to our rooms. One of the rooms was ready at our time of arrival(11:25 AM).
