I  these new Mickey Ears!!!

POFQ2011094.jpg

Thanks so much for the updated pictures. Even though we've stayed at this resort in the past current pictures help as we count down until the day we visit over 120+ days from now. Thanks again.:yay:

Sounds like we were right down the walkway from each other. We were there April 29th-May 8th in building 2. We also had a first floor room with courtyard view. We were right across from the fountain (could see it from our window) in room 2114. We didn't like the hard bed, but absolutely loved our location. We got three towel animals (a Mickey mouse head on the bed the day we arrived, a teddy bear, and a rabbit). We too left them.

We were in 2113!!! :lmao:

We weren't even sure anyone was next to us until the new people moved in on the 8th. Hope our baby wasn't too loud for you!

Just FYI for those that have upcoming stays here. MK is the only park you don't share a bus with POR going to/coming from the parks. Though we didn't go to DHS, so I don't know about that bus.

All the other parks picked up first at FQ and then drove around POR.

Coming home, at AK and Epcot, you share with POR, with FQ being dropped off first.

The only issue we had with that is on our way home from AK when we stopped at Blizzard Beach and picked up a whole bunch of high school kids that were standing...and getting off at POR.

Yeah, that was fun. We were still trying to wade through all the bodies and the bus driver closed the door to leave.

Can someone point me in the direction of what page of this thread I can see a new room? Thanks

We are at CBR right now. But I'm thinking of switching to POFQ. We love the resort and would like to head back there. But thought we would give CBR a try. But I just keep coming back to POFQ. I love the river and the whole theme much more than CBR theme.

I have read that the beds are really hard, which is getting me very nervous. My husband has back problems and even had surgery a few years back. I am worried that the new mattresses are really going to hurt his back. If he has issues can they change our resort. Did anyone else have any issues with the mattresses.
We leave in 7 days!!! please help!!!!!:confused3

We loved the mattresses and personally, I thought they were some of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept on. :)

Hmmm we did not share one for Epcot, DHS or AK. We were there for rope drop or before for each day, so that may have made the difference.

It could have. We got to the parks mid-morning, so maybe time of day made a difference.

Time of day will make a difference. The busier it is, the more buses Disney has running. As such, POFQ and POR might not share for opening and closing. At other times of the day, it is not as busy so they will condense buses to save time and money.

Page 35 of this thread has some and also http://www.portorleans.org/ has some as well, along with other useful information.

At Epcot and AK, returning to the resorts, the two share a bus line. At MK, POR has its own.

My DH keeps going back and forth on French Quarter and Riverside. Our 2 year old has medical problems and Riverside has the preferred room category which we know would ensure us a room by the main building/food court while French Quarter does not have this category. If I call and explain the situation do you think they could make a note of it that we need a close room? Our 2 year old has a walker and will have leg braces for our trip. She can not walk more then 10 minutes without getting extremely tired. We would like to have a close room so she can walk to the food court and be allowed to have some independence while at the hotel so she wouldn't be confined to her stroller all the time for 7 days.

Do you think this would be possible?

Ok, that is hysterical.. we were in 2214 May 1-7:rotfl:

We loved POFQ... can't wait to go back!

Random question!s Coathangers and hanging space.

It appears the length of the bar is 3 or 4 feet long? Are the hangers removable? Are there the clip style hangers for pants and skirts? I'm thinking picking up some cheap plastic hangers to take with us if necessary.

I don't know firsthand the answer to this, however I've seen many post about how accommodating Disney is when is comes to children with special needs. You have a very legitimate request, so if I were a betting gal I'd say they would work with you to get you what you need. Give them a call and see. That stated, I also haven't been to POFQ yet but from everything I've read, the resort is so much smaller that nothing is too far. I'm sure some POFQ veterans will be able to give some real advice on that, though!

Wow, two DISers right next door to each other and we didn't know it.:rotfl: Nope, never heard your baby. In fact, other than some people walking to their room one night just talking in a normal tone of voice, we never heard a sound the entire time we were there.

Yes, the hangers are removable, and some do have clips. You could always ask for more if you need them.

Wow, that is hysterical. Never heard you above us. Thanks both of you for being so quiet. lol I guess they were putting all us DISers in the same area. I know there was another DISer over in building 5. Also we ran into BillSears one night while we were watching Elliot Dyson's show. I don't know which room he was in, but know he was there last week.

I think you can get a closer room at PO-FQ than POR. The roads are cobblestone though which might be a pain when she has to cross but the walkways are normal smooth cement.

French Quarter is a VERY small resort compared to Riverside (or Movies - I see you've stayed there too) and you shouldn't have an issue - especially if you ask. If you look at this map http://www.portorleans.org/frenchquarter-info.php - with the way the resort is layed out, you could ask for any building that is along the "main street" that goes through the resort (I don't remember the name of the road!) - so building 4, 6, a section of 5, 2 or even parts of 3.
I think so long as you don't get a riverview you should be fine.

A note about Riverside - mind you, I've never stayed here - but if you look at the map http://www.portorleans.org/riverside-info.php there are some close buildings to the main hall, but nothing as close as French Quarter has. Riverside limits you to building 14, and parts of Oak and Parterre...

The scale on the maps help a bunch in seeing small the French Quarter really is. :-)

Have a great trip!
