Pork Shank GONE from T-Rex menu ...

Perhaps one of the best items I've had at ANY Disney property
restaurant was the T-Rex pork shank. I patronize many German
restaurants up home, and can honestly say the ones I've had at T-Rex
were as tender and flavorful as anywhere else. Wife also thinks T-Rex
steaks are up there with all others in DW.

So we book our first large lunch there to start the trip off right, and I
can't find it on the menu! I start wondering if it was always a special
of the day/week/menu insert, then the waiter confirms: they no
longer serve it. He agreed it was one of their best dishes,
and can only recommend their (StL style) ribs (meh), or pulled pork
sandwich.

I was stunned, was not in the mood for a steak, and ended up getting
an appetizer sampler as nothing else appealed to me. Not that
anything else is bad, per se (most of T-Rex is good quality), but I had my
stomach set on this melt-in-your-mouth dish.

T-Rex is good, but likely not worthy of my return for that money.
RIP, Pork Shank.

Wow, this is a HUGE disappointment. I've had this place reserved for several months, looking forward to those shanks. And I don't think any other restaurant has them. Oh bother!

The closest food item I've found at Disney in terms of tenderness (still doesn't melt in your mouth like the pork shank) is the Braised Short Ribs at Jiko (Animal Kingdom Lodge).

Where are all the people that will blame this on free dining? Oh...I forgot! T-Rex doesn't participate in the DDP...:confused3

Seriously, sorry about your shank! It's a bummer when one of your faves disappears. I just couldn't resist since EVERY change (for the worst) seems to be blamed on the DDP or free dining.

Heh. There's got to be a connection, LOL!

DDP has mostly affected counter service, IMO. Last time I did DDP I was so thoroughly disappointed at how generic it's become across all parks/resorts.

It may be affecting restaurants, but that's got to be impossible to quantify without being an insider. I'm not a big fan of Disney food in general so I'd be less likely to notice than others.

Gotta find you a replacement for that pork shank, Mark. :rotfl2:
It was nice to meet you at breakfast last week.

Hi Tracy! :yay:
