Pop Warner Fight?

This year's Pop Warner Dates are expected to be :

December 7th to 13th..

Avoid those dates accordingly.

You can pretty much always plot your own guess at the PW dates by adding 10 days to Thanksgiving.. and then the event will run for five or six days that week.

We are going to be around for those dates although not staying onsite. Am i right in thinking that the PW crowd should not be that troublesome during the day???:confused3 Or should we avoid the parks at all costs for that week??

Honestly they are busy in competitions in the day time and some of them head out to the parks in the evening but this past year (2007) I didn't notice them in significant numbers in the parks at all...

As with anything.. your mileage may vary.

Personally, I think they will be on a VERY short leash in 2008.. Only time will tell if that guess is right.

Thanks for your reply. I was getting worried. My DH's tolerence for rude children is almost as short as his tolerence for the parents of rude children. I could see a major international incident on the cards:rotfl2:

You're staying offsite which means you won't be riding the buses with them for the most part.. and frankly -- they're just not that much of an issue in the parks overall.

Sure you can have the odd group here or there.. but again.. they are not EVERYWHERE..

I read through a lot of this thread. I'm very dissapointed in the actions of the teams. If any of my kids are involved in something like this I can't even begin to describe how mad at them I would be. Then after that I would go after the organizers/coaches. It seems as though many parents these days have become lazy in their parenting. In a way its understandable (not excuseable) because so many families are either single parent with that parent working or with 2 parents and both parents work. Many times at least 1 if not both parents don't get home till a few hours after the kids which leaves the kids either by them selves or in some sort of after school program being run by other kids not much older. In these cases the parents have a harder time being parents. Some work hard at it, and it seems as though there are others that don't.

I'm just very disturbed by this whole story and history of the PW and cheerleader kids.

We were at POR the week after Thanksgiving. Our last few days were the first few days that these 2 groups came down. The CM who was incharge of our room had told us a few horror stories of previous years. Apparently its is mostly the cheerleaders that stay at POR. Overall we didn't have any bad experiences. I will say that the food court in the morning was a nightmare. We also encountered one morning a disturbing sight while going back to our room after breakfast. Outside one of the hotel rooms were 2 girls. Based on the looks of their age and what they were doing I would say they were very early 20's. They were outside their room (with the room door wide open) smoking a butt and drinking a Corona. I know they were part of the cheerleader groups because of the shirts they had on. If these are the type of people in charge of some teams then its no wonder there are so many problems every year.

I like the fact that Disney and PW had the 3 teams evicted in the middle of the night. Thats what the policy should be and it should be noted every year to every team going to Disney in the future that this is what can and will happen. Be on your best behavior or your gone. Plane and simple.

Is sad that these stories overshadow a great event for young people. But then again when the NBA had its All-Star game in Las Vegas last season it was pretty much the same scene. Though it was "adults" dealing with drugs and firearms (read: Pacman Jones).

With kids seeing things going on with Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, Pacman Jones and the like, its not suprising.

I'm sure there are some very classy teams that go down, but unfortunately they are overshadowed by those negative/troubled teams. Its a disturbing trend.

I think WDW did the right thing. Hopefully PW groups will think twice before causing trouble this year. I was planning my trip for Dec. 6-20 to avoid PW but it looks like that won't work. Ugh. Now I have to rethink how to schedule my vacation. I have the first three weeks of Dec. to work with and PW week is smack in the middle :(

Actually they are there during the day if they aren't in a competition that day(usually w/out supervision). That's why my daughter & I avoid that week like the plague.

I remember when I was in high school and went on band or drama trips we had strict rules to follow or else mom & dad would be paying for us to be transported back home. We had to stay in groups of at least four people, we had to be back in our hotel rooms by 10pm and they placed masking tape on the outside of the door as a deterrent to leave and we had to stay in our rooms until they came and did a room check the next morning. If the tape was broken or missing when they came around you can guarantee that we were going to be either heading home early or if not being sent home early that we would be banned from any other trips. I don't think that a chaperone needs to be in every room or even in an adjoining room but those kids need to have stricter rules and harsh consequences.

Now that'a not a bad idea!

I am interested also. (also staying offsite)
dang I thought that would be a great week to go, ( last time we hit the time spring break was!!:scared1: )

from what I am reading, most of the problems happen at resorts & ON busses?
what problems do you run across IN the parks?

(gee & I thought this was supposed to be a slow week there......)

I think that before long there won't be "slow" times at Disney at all-- just "less crowded" times.

I blame the internet, personally. So many people want to avoid the crowds that they now arrive in droves during times traditionally thought of as slow.
