Was anybody at MK on Saturday night and know what happened? My Neice and her DH got there just as security was working their way down Main St. She said it was the first time in all the years she has been going that she actually felt scared in WDW. I know there was a fight between two teams or parents from the teams but my Dneice said there were people on the ground. That it was like they were not able to get up? She was so thankful that her in-laws had stayed back at the hotel with the baby and that she did not have to be in the middle of all that chaos. Would love any details to pass on to her and her DH. Thanks, Becky:santa:

Yikes, that does sound scary!! I am glad I was not there. Shame if it was between parents of different teams. Not a good example to set for thier kids.

It happened in the park!?!?!?! I heard there was a fight at a hotel arcade (i think I read it on the community board) didn't hear about one in the park.

I read on the DIS homepage that it was in the MK late Saturday night between a team from Hawaii and one from Maryland. You can access the article right from the homepage here on the far right side.

She said the security people were taking strollers over near Crystal Palace and just pitching them in the shrubs to make way for more room. She said it was a real MOB scene. She also said once they made it to Adventureland there was no problems or really any crowds whatsoever.

This weekend must have been one for the records with the Gun,Toting Granny there too. We were supposed to go over Sat and meet up with them and I am so glad now that my DD4 was not feeling well. She would have been really upset by all the mess and I would hate for some crazi's ruin her impression on Disney.

Wow, that is crazy. I heard 3 teams (including the 2 involved in the fight) were sent home. And 2 of the teams are from Hawaii!:sad2:

When I first heard that and the news today said one of our teams won the entire thing in their division . My first thought was the Highest crime city strikes again. I hope it wasn't a B-more team (we had 2 down there) but we have had our share of problems up here with PW and guns being pulled and refs being attacked after games and so forth.

It's sad but seems to be common occurance now .

The story I read and the news video I saw say this occured in a Hotel Arcade. Are there two separate instances, one in the Magic Kingdom, and one in the Hotel Arcade?
Anyway, it seems that people from the teams involved were upset at the way things were handled and that they had to leave in the middle of the night. What does everyone think about the way it was handled? Personally, since it is apparently the policy of Disney to immediately remove the entire group(even thought not everyone was involved), I believe it was handled the proper way.

Well we have played Paintball at WWoS many times ,only staying on-sight for that a very few. I agree with removing the entire group or things will brew back up again. You need to be responsible for yourself as well as the group you are there with.

It's hard to draw the line on something like this guilt by association is a bad thing but sometimes has to be used. It was also in the forms we sign to play on the Disney Sight the right for removal from property.

Glad Disney took this action. I've been at ASMu when the teams were there. Let me just say that many of the kids have not been told what is expected of them.

I saw a pop-warner fight four years ago in December near the food court at CBR It was between two large high school boys. Lots of pushing and rolling around. WDW didn't seem to know how to take control.

wow...I guess I was really glad we went to Holyland on saturday instead of the magic kingdom!!! This is not good for Pop Warner at all...they sure are getting a bad name for themselves...we won't be back at the same time next year!

I think this thread belongs in the wild rumors and misinformation section.
If you take the time to go back to the DIS homepage you will find the story, FACT NOT FICTION!! Besides my neice was there and saw this and it was at the MK. Not sure about the arcade story so can not verify that one?

I was definately not impressed by the conduct of many (not all) of the Pop Warner groups that we saw. Thankfully they weren't there during the day, but at night they started coming in droves to the parks, and the "magic" of the park seemed to go away. There was screaming, swearing, lude comments, guys making sexual references to girls (and yes they were all still just little kids), pushing, line cutting, mobbing the characters, etc... and there were almost no chaperons in sight. Not to mention the way the young girls were dressed (or perhaps un-dressed might be more fitting).

We talked to a lady who said that she was there when the fight broke out at the resort. She said it took place by the pool, but I suppose that it could have been spill-over from the arcade.
Thankfully the whole PW experience was one of the only bad things that happened while we were there. I really think Disney needs to re-think the whole PW week. Either cancel it all together (I don't think they need the business for that time of year anymore), or require MUCH higher parental controls for the kids.

I agree. PW is the only reason we don't go in December anymore. 2 years ago we were in Epcot when 2 older boys started to get into it. Then all of a sudden there were cups being thrown and it got out of hand quickly. Security came and escorted them out of the park but we saw them in MK the next day! Acting the same way!
The boards are a good cross section of the public who are voicing the same opinion about this. I think it is going to come to a point when Disney has to think of their other guests over this event.

I personally support Disney's decision to kick them out immediately. Their policy is very clear and it is the parents/chaperons responsibility to make sure the kids follow it or suffer the consequences. I do feel a little sorry for the kids on those teams that were not behaving badly; however, in our society peer pressure carries more weight than adult authority a lot of the time. Maybe some of these kids will figure out that peer pressure does not always have to be negative and will start being a positive influence on their friends/teammates.

It's a shame that a large group is getting such negative publicity because of a few. Before anyone starts blaming Disney, though, let's start with who is supposed to teach their kids how to behave while they are away from home. Anyone out there who ever went on a school trip and really misbehaved? Or did your parents teach you how to behave away from them?

I do think Disney was correct in throwing out the responsible groups ASAP. Again, going back to your childhood - anyone have to stay after school just because one person acted up in class?

Ah yes, another reason to avoid Pop Warner. Hopefully if enough people complain to guest services about this (and it occurs year after year), they will stop doing Pop Warner at the resorts.

I avoid that week like the plague.
