I have stayed at the All Stars a total of four times... once at the sports and three times at the music....

how does pop compare to the all stars? is it nicer? and if so why?

I get the general feeling that POP is superior but I can't really say why! thanks everyone!

I think alot of it - is Pop was designed for our ages anywhere from 50's to 20's year old will find something to like at Pop.

It is also the only value with a lake. Plus it has a manager who cares. So the staff seems to care a little more.

the CMs here seem to go the little extra mile than All star CMs just don't.

go around Pop and regular all the signs and look at all the Icon's. If you don't remember several of them - I will be very surprised!

Pop is about memories.

I like the design of the pools better. 4 ways to get in not one.

like the food court better - frozen cokes.:woohoo:

It has an inside lounge and outside pool bar. the pool bar is definitely more fun. but on raining days it is nice to have both.

Here is a list of differences between the two resorts.

Pop is newer.
Pop was built in 2003.
All Star Movies was built in 1999.
All Star Sports and Music were built in 1994.

All Star Music judt underwent a refurbishment of all of the rooms and was completed in June 2007.
All Star Sports is slated to be refurbished between June 2007 and Febuary of 2008.

Pop has a lake. The All Stars do not have a lake.

When staying at the All Stars you use any of the All Stars pools.
The 3 All Stars are within easy walking distance of each other.

The gift shops are separate from the food court at the All Stars.
The gift shop and food court are combined at Pop.

Pop has 2,880 guest rooms. 4 floors in each building.
Each of the All Stars has 1,960 rooms. 3 floors in each building.

Both Pop and the All Star rooms are 260 square feet.

The beds at the All Stars are movable.

the beds at Pop at bolted to the floor.

The far bed at an All Star is closer to wall. And the near bed is not as close to the doorway as it is at Pop

The far bed at Pop is pulled away from the wall more. The near bed is closer to door.

For most people that would not make a difference but since I need an ECV
the bed being so near the door at Pop makes it more difficult for me to back my EVC in. :moped:

I like ASMo the best of all the values. When we stayed at POP every morning we woke up to a highway and noise from passing carswe also didnt like the way the food court was setup by you having to go through the store to get to it. Although the buses are shared at the AS's I would rather deal with the buses than get woken up by passing cars.

Here's the link to my just returned from POP and why I'm a POP snob thread.

I have stayed at the All Stars, but POP is by far my favorite! It's newer, I love the stuff from the different decades, the gift shop is amazing, the food is really good, the giant icons are awesome and so Disney! :hippie:

the highway is not near any of the rooms that I know of - so what room were you in.

there is definitely another way to get in the food court - it has its own entrance.

I LOVE POP!!!
Here are my 2 reasons...
1. Bus service - All the allstars share a bus... Pop has its own
2. Food Court- i love everything pop and the foodcourt!

The highways are not near Pop but some of the Pop buildings are very close to Oscela Drive (between World Drive and I-4)which is a main route that the buses travel to the parks. My sis complained of the road noise when she stayed there also.

I think a fan or white noise machine might help guests who hear the road noise.

I'm so undecided whether or not to choose Pop Century, or even a value, for our trip in January/February. I'm reading nothing but good things on here though about Pop...but my boyfriend is wondering about the transportation to the parks. Is it really that much longer of a drive than the other resorts?

Sorry if I sound clueless, it's only our second time planning on our own!

no. It is next door to Studios and behind CBR - which is across the street from Epcot.

that say - the way the bus drivers must go - makes it feel out there.

I agree - definitely don't remember any noise from any highway - POP is actually set back further from the road isn't it? There's several different ways into the food court & going through the gift shop was only one of them. There's usually at least 3 different ways into the food court no matter which Value you're staying at.

I agree with another poster - I'm definitely a POP SNOB. Love it...counting the days til we're back at the Mouse House!!

Some of the buildings are quite close to the road. When riding the ME bus into WDW I was able to see some of the Pop icons from the Osceola Parkway.
Pop is #31 at the bottom of this map.
