POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

Does anyone know if it's possible to hook up a DVD player on the TV's in the refurbed rooms and, if so, what types of hookups you can do? We always like to bring a DVD player incase we want to watch something other than the channels offered.

Yes you may.

If you have a refurbed room, you can use

RCA (red white yellow)
Composite (Blue Green Red)

or HDMI :)

The connections are on the left hand side.

Thank you! I felt sure the front desk CM was incorrect...but what I truly do not understand, is why Front Desk CM's do not have the correct information. One would expect they would be updated at the beginning of each shift. :thumbsup2

I don't think some of them have ever even walked through the whole resort. I had a CM check me in that didn't know that there was a big wheel in the middle of one of the 70's buildings. :lmao:

arrived today and at checkin I asked if there was anyway we could get a refurbed room. The cm told me that our room was not refurbed but would check to see if any were available. None available. Bummer, but...we opened the door to our room in 60s bldg 5 and guess what? Refurbed to the max! Woohoo but :confused3.

I'll keep my eyes open this week and report any updates.

Yay for you!!!! Is it super hot and humid? I'm going Friday!!! Have fun!! What floor are you on?

amazing and really shows how.clueless the cms are. Very humid but raining. Ate lunch, unpacked and settled in, kids swam in the rain, now off to dinner with a sleeping 2yo in the stroller:cool1:

:rotfl: My gosh!! Come on, Disney...let's be sure Resort CM's know the Resort where they work well...and even a fair amount about other resorts. :confused3

How did you do the online checkin? How many days out can you do it?
Thanks in advance :goodvibes

Go to disneyworld.com, click on My Disney Vacation (it's small - right under "parks"), click on on-line check-in service. You can do this within 10 days of your arrival. I always do on-line check-in and we're in our room within 15 minutes of arriving at the hotel.

Is it raining a lot, or here and there a little bit? I've been watching the weather and it says thunderstorms every day for the next 10 days. I know it's hurricane season and it could rain every day, but whenever I've gone, it's been 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there.

I just called to talk to the front desk to make a change to my on-line check in. Getting to the front desk is almost impossible....I went through 4 people, but I finally got the front desk, back office supervisor.

Before I hung up, I asked her how the renovations were going. She said they were ahead of schedule and they are working very hard. I asked her about the 50's buildings, because that is where I've requested (like every year). She said the 50's buildings were complete.

She said that the 50's are all preferred rooms and since I have a standard reservation, I would probably be put in the 80's or the 90's. I said, building 3 is not preferred, I've been there many times. I was about to get annoyed and confrontational, then I remembered - this is a CM and they don't know squat! :rotfl:

It isn't 'almost' impossible is IS impossible to get the front desk!!!!! We had such a time this week just getting our requests in that my hub finally took over and tried to get the front desk himself. His family owns a travel agency so he thought he'd have a better chance...HA! They did say they were 'on site' but not at front desk....but then another time a guy said he was the front desk manager at the actual hotel but then told my husband that there is NO renovations going on at the POP period!!!! And that they were just fixing/repairing rooms here and there thru out the resort!!! Highly doubtful he was a manager if he didn't know that his own property was having a full on reno going on....:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Wow is all I can say. I have worked in the hotel/airline/hospitality business my entire life and it is important to know what's going on in your own hotel at the very least!!
Anyway, hope I get a refurbed room...now that the 50's is finished.....or is it?! :lmao::lmao:
One CM even told me that there is no LAKE at the POP Century hotel!!! oy vey!!

Tammi when will you be there?? We go friday- Monday!

I arrive on Friday and cannot wait! I never made any specific room requests - just gonna go with the luck of the draw! :yay:

The CM's on the phone need to be better trained for sure. When I put in my room request when I first made my booking, I said 50's poolside and upper floor. She told me that all of the poolside 50's rooms are preferred, but she would make a note of it anyways. I wanted to ask for email address so I could send her the map of the preferred rooms!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have never done this before but I am going to definitely try this tomorrow as it will be our 10 day mark!! YAY!! :woohoo:

Any more updates? Is building 4 done now also? We are checking in Sunday kind of hoping for building 4 and refurbed.

its very sad when dis people know more then cast members..

I met dozens of cast members who were part of the Disney College program. Many of them have only been there a short time. The program participants participate for 9 months I think. My sister's niece did 6 months as Pluto. They don't honestly have time to know all the intimate details like us DISboarders do. I know they receive some sort of training... but they don't know it all. The managers on the other hand should. I encountered some very knowledgeable cast members in management, such as Kevin, the manager of Pop's food court. And the manager (?name/ from Waco Texas) who helped us find a suitable room when the original assignment wasn't satisfactory. He knew his rooms. There are some cast members, who know everything because they've been there forever, such as Eddie at Ft. Wilderness who has been there since the Reagan administration.
