POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

So is building 3 done (or will it be by next Friday) Yay or Nay??
Oy, the run around I have had for just a few simple questions.
Nobody at the hotel or call centers (cause I know that's who you get) even tho they tell you they are at the hotel... know anything...one said 'Pop Century isn't going thru any reno's' another said 'the entire place is finished' another said 'it's all done except for blds 1 & 2' and the best one of all from the "manager" of the front desk...we aren't doing a reno..we are just repairing things in rooms here and there thru out the property. Not entire buildings!!!!!!! :worship:
I just don't get why they just can't pull it up in the computer..when I worked in reservations for an airline we everything accessible and easy to find in the computer! If someone needed to know what terminal we flew from anywhere in the world...any question you could think of could be answered with a little searching and checking. I know Disney is a way more organized and oiled machine than any airline or company out there, that's why they are Disney..so just a little memo in the daily news part of the computer when the employee logs in would be helpful! I'm still flabbergasted at the run around I've had...this just shouldn't be the case.....:confused: But I'm still going to have fun fun fun!! :yay:

I believe while we were there some rooms in building 3 were done. I would say most of building 3 should be done :worship: or is about to be done by now (but not 100% sure on that). Only going by what I saw when I was there. :cool2:

They were painting and replacing beds on two floors while we were there for our stay and I would think those are completed by now. :upsidedow I also walked around ground floor of most of building three, all the rooms were not being used, but the curtains were open and you could see the rooms where being cleared for them to begin working on them. :cool1:
While we were there some of the rooms in building 3 facing the bowling pin pool (ground floor) had guests in them, but I could not tell you if they were renovated or not.
But not all the rooms facing the pool were being used they were also getting cleared out. Hope this helps:)

Thanks coffeeguy128! Probably the best report we've seen so far. Interesting that even the 70s are not fully complete yet. Too bad we didn't put you to work quizzing CMs about the right time to show up for MNSSHP -- there's been a lot of back and forth about 4pm vs. 7pm.

I remember one year a child and adults were waiting at a resort bus stop for over an hour for MNSSHP. They were having trouble getting the buses out fast enough I guess. The adults were upset because the party had already started and they were still waiting for a bus. I felt sorry for the little girl.

Hopefully both 60s buildings will be done by Thanksgiving? That's always a must for us, 60's ground floor, poolside.

I've never been down in the late fall/winter. Is it still warm enough to go swimming in November? (obviously I'm from the north!) I am going in 12 DAYS :cheer2:, and while I'm there, I'm hoping to convince my husband to let us come back between Christmas and New Year!

In our 3 trips down between Thanksgiving and Christmas, only 1 year had weather suitable for swimming (2006- they were having quite the heat wave that week with temps in the mid to upper 80's). In 2008, we went to the pool one day, but I didn't get in the water. Even DS and DH gave up quickly since it was just too cold when you got out of the water.

What about going to the parks? Are we talking sweatshirts, sweaters and heavy jackets; or t-shirts and light jackets?

would love to know as well! we usually go in september, so florida in december is different for us.

All of the above! One day it will be sunny and 80 and the next overcast and 65. We always need a jacket in the AM and once the sun goes down (and sometimes an actual coat- we could see our breathe at the Dessert Party last year the day after Thanksgiving!) A few days later I was wearing shorts and a tank top.

My friend checked in to POP today and had requested a refurbished room - the front desk CM told her the refurbishment is complete in all bldgs. Of course, she works at the front desk, but it's difficult to believe every bldg is complete.

My friend is in a second floor room in 50's bldg 3 - sent pics of her their nice freshly refurbished room. :thumbsup2

They are working on the third floor of building 4 right now. (60's section) I can hear them working from my second floor room which has NOT yet been refurbed.

When they start a building do they reburb from the bottom to the top floor, or the top to the bottom?! Any one know??:confused3

Yep, what they said! It does vary a lot!
We went Thanksgiving last year, 6 nights, and only 2 of them were really suitable for swimming. most days in the parks kids were perfect in long sleeves,no jackets - but come the evening, it really would drop down and they needed sweatshirts and light jackets. All I needed was short sleeves with a light jacket.
Had a couple park days and nights though where short sleeves all day, maybe late in the evening need a light jacket.
Just varies so much - and while it's our favorite time of the year to visit, it sure is a pain to pack for! Always wanting to make sure have enough stuff for hot days, yet enough for cold days, too. And really hate having to lug an extra bag to the parks with sweatshirts and jackets for everyone. But cold kids equals whiny kids, which equals no fun!
But late at night we had nights in the low 50's, high 40's!

I just read the post about them currently refurbing the 60's buildings. I was wondering if you guys think all the buildings will be done by mid Oct.? We are only staying one night before heading over to the Poly, but it'd be nice to get a refurbed room ;) I put in a request for the 60's buildings by the pool. I'm sure that area gets requested a lot so I'm not going to hold my breath :upsidedow

Does anyone know if it's possible to hook up a DVD player on the TV's in the refurbed rooms and, if so, what types of hookups you can do? We always like to bring a DVD player incase we want to watch something other than the channels offered.

Good call! I always bring our portable DVD for my daughter on the plane - if we can hook it up the TV, i'll be bringing cables with me!

We have went the past 2 Decembers. In 2008, it was beautiful. We wore shorts every day and were able to swim as often as we wanted--weather wise. Last year, 2009, was so different. One day we could wear shorts/capris and the next day pants and jackets. One day we even wore heavy jackets all day long and wore our gloves during Fantasmic. It was just back and forth the entire week. I recommend taking a variety of clothing, including swimsuits, and just go with the flow.

HTH!

Thank you! I felt sure the front desk CM was incorrect...but what I truly do not understand, is why Front Desk CM's do not have the correct information. One would expect they would be updated at the beginning of each shift. :thumbsup2

You would think so. I know someone reported them working on building 4. Then someone posted it was done. I was thinking that was way to fast for it to get done.

Keep the updates coming.
