POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

I'm back from the POP returned this morning very very early so I'm still half asleep lol. I did some requested checking and this is what I found out for everyone.

I spoke with 3 different CM's on 3 different occassion's but they all gave pretty much the exact same answer so take it for what it's worth.

#1 None of the sections are 100% complete not even the 70's tho' that is the furthest along. all 3 CM's said 70's was 90% complete.

#2 50's and 60's not yet complete. About 40 percent complete at this time.

#3 I asked when they would be completly finished up as I was thinking about booking a bounce back for MNSSHP. all 3 CM's said come back in Oct they expected to be 100% finished with all the refurbs in all sections by Oct.

60's buildings are not all complete.
Just got back from staying in building 4 of the 60's and our
room was not complete. Actually none of the rooms in this
section of the 60's were done. I have read that building 5
60's section is done. But I can tell you building 4 is not.
We were in room 4113. While we were there they were working
on building 3 second floor and the last few days of our trip the
bottom floor was being worked on. They were removing the beds
and painting while we were there.

SWEET! Thank you so much. Building 3, ground floor is where I am hoping to be in 2 weeks. I will stay in that building regardless and having a refurbed room is an added bonus! :cheer2:

Thanks coffeeguy128! Probably the best report we've seen so far. Interesting that even the 70s are not fully complete yet. Too bad we didn't put you to work quizzing CMs about the right time to show up for MNSSHP -- there's been a lot of back and forth about 4pm vs. 7pm.

Thanks Debagu! I just updated my room request on Saturday to put building 3 ground floor as my first preference. This report helps me feel like maybe just maybe there will be a refurbed room then.

Actually I did ask about early entry for MNSSHP and the CM said you can enter the park at 4:00. (I asked the question at MK guest services)

Guess we will know for sure when the parties start but I'd think the MK guest services crew would know the facts over anyone else so take that for what it's worth.

Man, you're the best! That is good info from the CMs who should know.

There's a thread on MNSSHP - the folks on that thread may be glad to hear your entry time report: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=37839490#post37839490

Hi all...I'm not sure who is on what thread, so I wanted to post my comments I had with someone today regarding the refurbs. If you subscribe to the 'groovier' thread and already saw this, I apologize!

We got building 4, 2nd floor, facing pool. We asked to be moved to ground floor, and request was granted, we were right around the corner in room 4113(60's). We have always been in building 4 and we love it there. Our room was not refurbished yet, none of the rooms in this part of building 4 were done.

While we were there for the 10 days, we saw work being done in building 3, second floor, removing the beds and painting. Our last few days there they were working on the bottom floor.

This was our 6th time staying at the POP. The only problem we had was in the food court, 2 times during our stay, the one station with the breakfast pizza was not open in the am. Breakfast pizza is my kids favorite, so they had to settle for cereal on those mornings.

On our last day we had 5 quick services left and we were able to convert them to 3 snacks each. Also for the ppl who loved the frozen cokes in the past, which is another of my kids favorite, we were able to find them in Epcot in the cooling station and they are a snack.

Tammi building 3 facing building 4 ground floor is def. the rooms they were working on, so you should be in a new updated room.

Actually walked around the entire building 3 area, and they had the windows (curtains) open, the rooms still were with the old furnishings, but not being used. All the stuff was piled on the tables. Beds were stripped. A few rooms on the ground floor facing the bowling pin pool had quests in them.

Maybe I should make this clear, coming from classic hall building 3 rooms before the elevators, the rooms facing building 4 area are the ones that were empty (beds removed and painting) and being worked on. Does that make sense. Although I believe that some other sections of building 3 were being emptied out, but also some had guest.

We stayed at POP for 1 night - Sunday Aug. 15 - checked out yesterday. I didn't make any requests since it was only for 1 night. We got 3rd floor 50's building 3 and the room was refurbed. In fact the comforter was so stiff it didn't seem like it had ever been used!
I didn't walk around the resort except to the pool and food court, but when we were swimming in the main pool yesterday after we checked out I could see and hear that they were working on 60's building 4 on the 4th floor.

Building 3 is what I'm hoping for. Which part of the building were you in (ie, what was your room facing)?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE UPDATE - KEEP THEM COMING EVERYONE! In 16 days, I will update as well!

Oh thanks! We requested 60's facing lake. Building 5 is done. So I was hoping building 4 would be done also. So hoping my chances of getting a new room are looking better.

It was on the back side of the building in the corner of the wing closest to the food court - room 3350. If you look at this map it's right where Tramp's front paws are.

If this is an inappropriate question, please let me know and I'll see if I can find a better venue! But...you guys seem awfully knowledgeable, and perhaps I can learn from the people who know!

I've been watching this thread as I'm trying to learn as much as possible about our first time at WDW, staying at POP in May. We will be an adult (in our 40's) couple, no kids and are trying to figure out the best room/building to request at POP for our needs. One of the things we would like is to be somewhere relatively quiet - we love kids (we're big kids ourselves), but whooping & hollering at 2am when us old fogeys are trying to sleep isn't something we would look forward to. We don't do the swimming pool thing, and we don't want a large trek to core amenities like buses, food court. Is there such a place at POP?

What would you all recommend?

I would ask for 50's section. We ask for 60's facing the lake and it is pretty quite there also.

Buildling 3 or 4 FACING THE LAKE. I always stay in building 3 (away from the pool) and it's ALWAYS quiet. I'm not sure about the 70's or 80's buildings, never stayed over there. Maybe someone else can chime in on those.

It really isn't a far walk to get anywhere on the property. Click on the attached link for a map of building #s.

While there are many buildings at Pop, things are not spread out like they are at CSR and CBR. Even in the furthest building, you will be close to what you need. I suggest requesting a King room overlooking the lake. Beautiful view, peaceful, and a lovely sun rise each morning. It is interesting to note that a King room is not an extra charge at POP, nor is the lake view. Two of the great perks at POP. As long as you are not overlooking a pool you should have a quiet time.

Currently at the Hippy Dippy pool, enjoying Tye Dyed cheesecake. Staying in the 70's building (bldg 10). Totally refurbished and wonderful. Have not seen any refurbishments happening.
