POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

Is it safe to say that as of right now some of building 1 and all of building 2 are the only areas left to be refurbished?:confused3

I keep sayin' it :)

Still have not heard from anyone that building 2 work has started, but it very well may have. I witnessed building 1 work underway last month from my refurbed building 3 room. Still have not seen (but may have missed) reports that they made it to the ground floor of building 1 with refurbs.

Otherwise, all reports are that 60s, 70s, 80, and 90s are all done.

I called today to make sure we had our connecting rooms request, and they had it. I added a request for the 80's section. That way, we should get rehab. Its important to me to have a rehabbed room with the privacy curtain than being close to the main building or pool. Although, 80's has a pool.

We just returned and I can tell you from first hand experience that all the rooms at POP have not been refurbished. I had requested building 9 for convenience and the fact that I sure that building had been refurbished. With 2 teens, the privacy curtain was important! I also requested the special cleaning for my dust allergies/asthma. When we got there I saw they had assigned us to building 2 first floor - the complete opposite end of where I wanted to be. I questioned the CM (who was very nice but completely clueless about many issues) and said we had requested 9 and that we really wanted a refurbished room. She said all the rooms had been refurbished so it wouldn't be problem. Anyway, we get all the way to the room (after stopping by the luggage services for our swap frig), open the door, and, of course, it is not refurbished! I am now really irritated so I got back to the check it desk and there is now a long line (we had done online checkin). So I just went up to the guy sitting at the little desk near the line and told him the situation. He was great - he checked our record and saw that we did indeed request building 9 and would move us there but we wouldn't have the special cleaning. I agreed to that and went back to the room to move everything (the frig had already been delivered!) and my DDs said they had stepped in something wet on the carpet that they insisted, based on smelling their now wet socks, was urine! Needless to say, they were ready to move! Building 9 was great and very convenient. The only negative thing was that we were on the first floor and there was a lot of noise when we first went to bed (which was never early) from people returning home yelling to each other. My allergies did act up but I felt like the refurbished advantages were worth it. The refurbished rooms are great - the privacy curtain, the staggered curtains, the beds, flat screen tvs, and other small differences I can't recall, really do enhance the room. I did not see any refurbishing work being done while we were there.

Got back the 28th......we were in 5157 [EXACTLY where I had requested!] and it was great! We have stayed at Pop before and the refurb was a much needed change!

Mousekeeping did a fantastic job for us.....animal characters every night and the room was always spotless!

Just one question/gripe....when and why did they take out the frozen coke machine?

I heard that there was an on-going issue with mechanical problems with the frozen coke machine. I know... my DD8 was so disappointed.

Then, we took her build-a-cup to Goofy's candy shop to get a frozen coke "refill" for $3 something, and due to some ridiculous new health regulation they cannot refill your actual build a cup. So you have to bring the cup to show you have it, but then they give you your frozen coke in a plastic cup. So you either have to then carry both, or dump the new plastic cup into your build-a-cup and throw away the plastic cup. What a waste... and the wasteful cup is slightly bigger, so when we dumped it into the build-a-cup we still had to finish the cup off before we threw it out. Now I know to tell them not to fill the plastic cup all the way. Its one of those domed slurpee cups, so it holds more than nec.

And... did you know that if you get your resort refillable mug filled in one of the locations that are not self serve like at say Boardwalk, they will not refill your actual mug. You need to have your mug on hand to show you bought it, but they give you a stupid plastic cup for your coffee, tea or soda. Nobody knows why:confused3 not even the CM's. They're just told they have to do it. Talk about wasteful and not green! :sad2:

I want to say it's been over a year -- I think the frozen Coke machines were gone during my Sept 09 trip. I don't know why they were removed, but doesn't it seem like the Gold Peak tea dispensers are in the same places where the frozen Coke machines used to be?

Right...that's where it's at.

Did they also take the hidden mickey out of the light?

Oh bummer... we are staying at All Star Movies next week -- just hubby and I and I was all set to call to request a King bed... Should I not bother?
Debi:confused3

It depends on how important that king bed is to you. It's only a call. The worst that can happen is that you end up in a room with two double beds.

Guess we have been lucky....the three times we have stayed at POP we asked for and recieved a King bed. Never been a problem for us.

I am thinking that most king bedrooms in the values are handicap accessible rooms with roll in showers and/or grab bars in the bathroom.

We asked for and got a king size bed a few weeks ago at Pop. It was not a handicap accesible room. We requested connecting rooms and got that as well. We paid for preferred and did not make any other requests.

I got a king my last trip with no roll in shower, ive only stayed value and never had an issue getting a king size bed we just make that our only request! :) If it helps our last trip was preferred, standard many times before there and a few preferred never a problem. But I consider ourselves fortunate!

My post does say "most" and but I will take out the "if not all part" :thumbsup2.

Did the king room happen to have grab bars in the bathroom anywhere?

There was a grab bar in the tub area in my room that was it. But not all the rooms are handicap accessible x amount of king size bed rooms aren't from what I read on the Pop FAQ
