POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

I just got home last night and we were in building 4...on the 3rd floor..room 4633 over looking the kiddie pool and it was brand spankin new...
bld 4 on the 2nd floor is being worked on right now...4th and 4rd floor is finsihed. I think we were the 1st people to stay in our room and it was wonderful.
Yesterday morning they were working DIRECTLY under our room and it was LOUD at 9am!!!
But the rooms are wonderful. I really loved the privacy curtain!!! Never thought it was a big deal before, but now I hust love it!!

I'm 95% sure that the 50's are already done.

I'm pretty sure the 50's is NOT done. Sorry. :sad2:
We just left Sunday. No work being done in 50's for the entire week. Our room was NOT done and our neighbor's was NOT done. Just sayin....

Were you in building 1 or 2?

I was told building 3 (50s) was done, then they were working on building 4 (60's), then back to building 1 and 2 in the 50's. I'm arriving in 2 days and I'm hoping building 3 is done, that's my favorite building.

We were in building #1. Building #3 may have been done prior to us checking in. I only saw activity in #4 like others have posted.

Buidling 3 is done but it is the only building in the 50's that is done. They are now working on building 4 60's.

I can say from experience to never tick off the maids at Pop century. They will retaliate. If they don't do what they should report it and then ask to be moved immediatly.
Out of curiosity, retaliate how? (a lot of catastrophic stuff can be imagined)

Fresh blood on a pillow case and what looked like feces on another kind of retaliate the day after we complained about her to management. The mgr seemed unphased when we showed him the pillow cases and he was more concerned that the maid hurt herself. He offered us no solution except to have her stay out of our room for the next week we were there. Since she wasn't doing anything but laying towels down on our luggage and taking out garbage anyway it was no big loss. Dummy, me tipped her every day too. If I had to do it over again I would insist they move our room. Afterward, I heard from several other people who had issues in the same building with their maid all made sure the resort was aware of it when they left. It was 80's closest to the main building parking lot view.

Yikes! We had great maid service last year. Are only problem was she was there bright and early most mornings at 8 am.

Not kidding at all. I don't know what else would be hard crusty and brownish. It was my husband who found it and freaked out. To be honest she never changed the sheets or cases our entire stay till that day.

We had excellent maid service when we stayed in the 60's building twice in the past. She went above and beyond the norm. It all depends on the maid good or bad but if mgmt doesn't address issues the problems will never get fixed.

By the way, we had a mousekeeper named Zoila. She was delightfully pleasant and helpful. :cloud9: We were in 70's. I wonder if the maids have a particular building assignment or if they move them around week to week?:confused3[/QUOTE]

We have been staying at the POP since 2006 and we are always in the same section the 60's building 4 and we have always had the same mousekeeper "Rubiela" she is wonderful and she takes excellent care of us.

I had asked her one time, do they move you around and she said she has been assigned to this building and floor for years, they don't move around.
That makes us happy for sure, she is great!!! :cool1:

We actually look forward to seeing her every visit and she returns the welcome to us too!!! :woohoo:

weird... that was MY quote?

This is good to know. Maybe I'll just call up and request one of Zoila's rooms, floor 2 building 6, for the last day of our Thanksgivng stay. We're moving over to the Pop for one day because that Friday night is WAY too expensive at Saratoga, so we're getting 2 rooms at Pop.

Ahhhhh, finally here!!! I couldn't remember if it was this thread or the other, so I'm posting in both...sorry!

The refurb room is great! I'm in 50s building 3, 3rd floor, facing fireworks. Got everything I requested except ground floor. Only had those in body 2-not returned.

For those who were asking about the medical fridge for insulin, it's dorm room size-about 2 feet by 2 feet.

When I was there this past June my room was refurbished, it was room 1453. It had the LCD tv but, it didn't have the curtain to separate the bathroom area. I dont know what really qualifies rooms as refurbished... Just sayin.. Since alot of people are saying 50s has no rooms done..

Hi there! Was there 8/17-8/27 and stayed in 70's building 6 near the Mickey phone. I got my request - 4th floor, 70's and connecting rooms. The privacy curtain was a blessing!! I had brought some hanging closet organizers so space was not an issue but we definitely made use of our open closet area.

First let me say that I love Pop and this is our 2nd year in a row staying there (and in the 70's section) but the maid service was not as good as last year and the buses were fewer and far between. I usually leave $5 a day for the maid in nice mousekeeping envelopes but this year, I actually skipped a day here and there just to give her a message. One day, I had to ask her to come back and vacuum b/c it was pretty obvious she hadn't (we eat cereal in th room). She barely wiped the bathroom sink which grossed me out. I even started taking everything of mine off to make it easy for her.

With respect to the buses, not sure why they can't put up something to shade that area - standing there in the sun for somethines 20-30 min. at a time can be unbareable. The bus drivers were all very nice and did their best to get as many people on as they could. I met some really nice people on the bus.

Sorry, I couldn't see any renovation going on. They were working on our roof the whole time we were there. I didn't hear anything but I felt so bad seeing these guys go up there in what felt like 120 degree heat. And also, don't plan on sleeping in past 9:30 am any morning - they use leaf blowers to clear up any debris in the courtyard - like clockwork.

Also, the very 1st day we were there, we had to call housekeeping to unclog our toilet - yes, disgusting! Okay, that all having been said, I still think POP is a great value. Our rooms were extremely quiet (I recommend 4th floor and close your bathroom door at night). It has the best food court, gift shop, arcade and sometimes you can luck out with the buses and hop right on. I highly recommend the refillable mugs (they have a wash station right next to the coffee area) and the pool lifeguards are great. The food court people actually let us convert leftover TS credits to CS and leftover CS credits to snack credits. And the chef was great with my dd's food allergy.
Some more new things I learned this year at POP:
1. There are 3 laundromats - and the one near the 60's pool is the most crowded. If you are staying in the 90's or 50's, I highly recommend you use those laundromats.
2. Pop food court will stamp your receipt if you are on the dining plan so you can come back and get a huge ice cream sundae, milkshake, etc. up to 90min. after your meal.
3. The arcade there is much more reasonable than most kid arcades I've been too - I was pleasantly surprised and it's a nice size to keep track of all my kids.
4. They were NOT enforcing anything with the refilllable coffee mugs - I saw mugs from other years and people even using other things - actually laughable.
5. Pop does a lot to entertain the kids on cloudy days like big wheel races thru the 70's food court and Jenga near the pool, etc. One day, they all had rainbow clown wigs on.
I can't think of anything else right now. If you have any questions, please let me know!

A note about the privacy curtain. Not really earth shatteringly important, but we had a refurbed room with the curtain which was great and convenient. The only annoying thing is that it doesn't have a tieback to the wall so everytime you walked in and out of that area, you had to move the curtain.

Next trip I will bring something to help keep is aside when not in use.
