POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

A note about the privacy curtain. Not really earth shatteringly important, but we had a refurbed room with the curtain which was great and convenient. The only annoying thing is that it doesn't have a tieback to the wall so everytime you walked in and out of that area, you had to move the curtain.

Next trip I will bring something to help keep is aside when not in use.

Really? that's werid, because our privacy curtain had a plastic wand attached and it moved to the side like a draw drape on a track. Anytime you were done with the curtain you took the wand and moved it to the left and it was out of sight.

Now that I'm within 10 days of check in (WOO HOO!!!:cool1:) I would like to get some opinions on online check in . I've done it before, but I usually only have 1 request for a room near the bus stop. This time I'm traveling with my daughter and her family, so I've requested connecting rooms, 70's section and a rehabbed room. Do you guys think I'd be better of not doing online check in so I can talk to them about my requests when we check in. We'll be checking in fairly early in the morning and don't expect our rooms to be ready anyway.

Thanks for any info/advice anyone has.

Terri

Terri, I did online checkin and got all of my requests (70's, connecting, 4th floor). Chances are 90% that you'll get rehabbed even w/o request. If you don't like it when you checkin, they can still change it. It's not like you have to get off line and go to another place. Enjoy your vacation!!! I'm sending pixie dust your way!:wizard:

I am here now. My daughter was so exhausted, we came back to POP early today and I walked the whole property-well most of it! Based on open doors and windows....

Bldg. 1 (I didn't go to floor 3 or 4th) UNTOUCHED
Bldg. 2 UNTOUCHED
Bldg. 3 COMPLETE
Bldg. 4 - flr 3&4 COMPLETE/flr 2 done except for 1 wing/ground floor UNTOUCHED
Bldg. 5 - COMPLETE
Bldg. 6 - COMPLETE
Bldg. 7 - COMPLETE
Bldg. 8 - COMPLETE
Bldg. 9 - COMPLETE
Bldg. 10 - COMPLETE

In my quest to be accurate-or anal-, for my run warm-up and cool-down, I "hugged" the buildings and was able to see in about a dozen or so windows in bldg1&2. Off all of them, one room was refurbed-2142. Looking at the other rooms, I realized how nice the new carpets are!

Okay, off the iPhone for the day-on to bigger and better things-Animal Kingdom! :dance3:

Thanks for the information, I appreciate it! I thought I read somewhere that it was harder to get requests if you do online check in, but I don't remember where I heard that. I do like how quick it is when you have done check in online so I think we will go ahead and do it.

We are here now on a very unexpected surprise birthday trip. We're in Building 4 on the backside facing the lake. I think we must be the first to stay in the room since the rehab. When we opened the door last night, the room still had that faint new paint smell. Just as in July, we are loving the new rooms! Pop has definitely made a return as our favorite value!

Even if you do online check-in, it just means they have all your information ahead of time. You can still talk to them about your room request. I did online check in, and we ended up changing rooms. They had given me exactly what I asked for.... but I didn't realize that first floor, 70's might also put me near the smoking area by the lake, which I didn't want, so I got moved to another room in the same building. It wasn't 1st floor, but we ended up liking it even better, so I'm over requesting first floor. The elevator was there as soon as we hit the button, every single time. Never a wait. But it was easy to move us. They gave us several options. So, go ahead and try online check in.

This is our first stay at POP and I have a few questions regarding room request. I have read that you can see the fireworks from some rooms. We have booked preferred rooms and I was wondering are any of these fireworks rooms preferred? Also, with a preferred room, is it necessary to put in a request for a certain room or not?

Thanks,
Sandy

Well, it's 3 hours till my departure, then about 15 hours of traveling, and afterward WDW :-)
Thanks for all your help, will try give feedback when I arrive.
Have my fingers crossed for a king bed room in the 60s

We saw the fireworks :) So happy because baby never made it to the fireworks and I saw it from my room.
We were in the 90s 8462. We had to step out onto the balcony and look toward the classic hall- and at 10 o clock saw them :)

I want to go back!!!!!!

Ahhhhh, finally here!!! I couldn't remember if it was this thread or the other, so I'm posting in both...sorry!

The refurb room is great! I'm in 50s building 3, 3rd floor, facing fireworks. Got everything I requested except ground floor. Only had those in body 2-not returned.

For those who were asking about the medical fridge for insulin, it's dorm room size-about 2 feet by 2 feet.

Hello Tammi

If you don't mind me asking, can I ask what your room number is please? We are a couple of Aussies coming to Pop next March. We are babies of the 50's so thought I would ask for rooms in the 50's section. But a room which would allow us to see the fireworks would be a true bonus. Just wondering which room numbers would be good for this.

Sadly I think we are going to be there during Spring Break (we do not have this downunder) so do you think a 4th floor would be the quietest way to go? Many thanks southaussie :cutie:

If I"m not mistaken, the 50's rooms, that are the furthest from the main building and bus stop that face outward, would have a view of the fireworks. One evening we were waiting for a bus, and we looked over in that direction and could see fireworks. I believe it was EPCOTs. I can't imagine how anyone could see MK fireworks from the Pop. MK is several miles north of EPCOT. It might even be 5 or more miles. The preferred rooms are the ones closest to the main pool and the main building. At Pop it has nothing to do with view at all. So the rooms that you might be able to see fireworks from are not preferred.

If you pay for preferred, you still have the option of making a request. It is a request, just that. But go ahead and ask for anything you think you want. You never know. I know people who request a particular room by number and have gotten it. :cheer2: 76 more days!

We are currently at Pop in building 3 top floor. It's quite only if you have quite neighbors. We are in the middle of two noisy neighbors. On one side they talk really loud and almost yelling at their kids most in the afternoon till about 11:00pm(if they are in their room). The walls are way to thin lol.
On the other side, they are quite at night and any time while in their room. But come 8:00 am and they are leaving their room, their daughter makes a bunch of noise in the hall area right by our door. They have woke me up twice so far.

I've been on the 4th floor of the 90 and 80 build and didn't hear a thing. So it really depends on your neighbors.

Try not to worry. Popis a great hotel. And noisy people are every where.:)

Reaurding online check in. We did it for the first time and it worked great and quick. We got a king bed and a refurbished room. All though the front desk didn't know we had a refurbished room. We found out when we got to the room. :) I would do online check in again. Seem to work well.

I went ahead and did the online checkin. Thanks to those who replied, I appreciate it! Now all I have to do is make it through the next 5 days! I have a feeling they are going to go by very slowly!

Terri
