POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

The new rooms look amazing!! Seriously thinking of booking there instead of POFQ for Oct..:cool1:

We were there 10 days ago for spring break and the mattresses were very comfortable. They had a very thin "pillow top" and were firm but not hard. From previous posts, I had expected them to be hard as a rock but they were not. We all slept very well and even my mom who has a bad back slept great.

We were in the 70's building. It was our first time and Pop and we absolutely loved it. We have stayed at SSR, CSR and offsite and would definitely book Pop again.

Going in October 1-8, and DD (10) saw pictures of POP and thinks it is a step up from where we stayed before (CBR, POFQ, and POR). I think it great that we are moving on up to a better resort!!!:woohoo:

We always stayed mod until last year. We tried Pop and my dd loves it. I didn't even think it needed a refurb.

Thanx for letting us know about the mattresses. They sound perfect. :cloud9:

Glad you had a good trip and enjoyed POP!

Just got back from our Disney vacation and our stay in a newly refurbished room (Room 6445) 70's building (Mickey phone). It was wonderful and really nice to stay in such a clean room. Everything was absolutely beautiful at this resort and the food was great also. I called the WDW Travel Company about a week prior to have a "refurbished room" added to our reservation. We arrived at check in around 9:00am and I asked if we were able to receive a new room. The lady at the check in counter was more than willing to change our room to meet the request. It only took about 10 minutes to check in and I wanted to add that even though we received a few emails to check in online, we opted not to. I figured they would have to re-do all that paperwork if the room needed to be changed. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

 SO glad you enjoyed your stay!! Welcome home!

We are having a really hard time deciding between POP and AK Pool View (it's a $245 difference for the 6 nights.) DH loves POP and says that $245 could pay for most of our food for the week, so why spend money we don't 'have to.' :rolleyes1

I enjoy POP, but have never stayed at AK and think it would be fun to try somewhere new, but I see his point about the money. The main thing keeping me from saying ok to POP is the BEDS. So I'm so curious to know, since you had a new room, how were the beds? They used to be SO hard! Thanks for any help you can give us :) Have to make a decision SOON :)

Yeah you can it's pretty great and not hard to do at all. It even tells you how to flip the image so that when you stick it to the window it isn't backwards. I bought it at staples but I'm sure you can get it wherever you can buy office supplies. I'll take pics of the windows and post it on here.:)

Thanks so much. I will look for your pictures on the POP picture thread.

I honestly thought the beds were just fine. The only thing that was a little uncomfortable was the fact that they were really tucked in tight and had to be loosened up or you would feel like you were in a coccoon :) The first night we were in Orlando we ended up at the Wingate Resort by Windham because we were visiting family and the beds were really soft there. I don't think they were that uncomfortable at Pop and would definitely recommend saving the money. Good luck on your decision and enjoy your stay.

Thanks for the help! I just keep going back and forth. Guess I'm going to have to just crack down and make a decision this week :)

Depending on the Fall Promo we are going those dates too! So fun!

Just got back from Pop yesterday and enjoyed our quick 3 night trip. We got in after midnight on Thursday and the front desk agent who checked us in was very nice and helpful and we were checked in and off to our room within a minute or two.
We were in the 80's (Roger Rabbit) buildings and our room was nice, no flat screens, but it was a very clean and comfortable room. We had a good location on the 4th floor overlooking the pool not too far from the elevators and that was a standard room. We were not far from the transportation hub to the parks either just a short walk across the parking lot. The price was great and I would definitely stay here again.

Am I reading this right - is the difference $245 for the 6 days total? If so, that's not much for a jump to a deluxe. What's the price per night of each?

Yes! That's the total for the 6 nights! The PIN code we got was 20% off values, but 40% off deluxes. If we wait until after July 18, AKL will be in value season. So it makes the lower deluxes very close in price with the values and moderates. With the discount, for the basic standard room for each, it comes out to:

POP $95.20
AKL $144.00
per night
(Fri and Sat nights at POP would be more, AKL doesn't charge more for weekends during their value season.)

POP Preferred View $107.20
AKL Pool View $150.00
per night

Which eras are complete? I have asked for the 60's since I really like the theming there. I wish they hadn't started with the 80s and 90s.

Would a split work? We have stayed at POP for the last 3 years , in Feb dh and I spent 2 nights at AK. Sooooo with the 25% dis values and 40% BB...we are doing 6 nights POP and 5 nights AK...that was the kids idea, I had 11 nights booked at AK....kids wanted some POP time. We ended up doing a cruise which comes in between so figured I'd do the resort they know first so they had something to look forward to after the cruise...:confused3

I actually thought about that. When we went for our 1 year anniversary we changed resorts 3 times and our stay was for 8 nights. It was a PAIN, but it might be an ok solution for this trip if we only move once. Thanks for the idea. I'm off to do some number crunching :)

Well I would be the first one to say save the $245...but now I would suggest do AK if it is doable it is great!!!! If not too much of a pain do the split....I am watching a Disney commerical right now....hee hee

Quoting Myself :rotfl:

So I tried 2 nights at POP standard room, then 4 nights at AKL pool view and it would only save us $109 as opposed to staying all 6 nights at AKL Pool View. Not sure if it's worth the $109 to have to switch resorts, pack and unpack, etc... hmm....

That's what keeps getting me too! Darn Magic! :happytv:
