We booked through a TA...I'm wanting to request a certain building at POP...can I call and request or does my TA need to do so? And when should this be done?

Your TA will have to put through the request. I tried last year by myself without going through TA and they would not allow me to as my TA essentially owned the reservation. It sucks.

That's what I thought, but just making sure. Thanks! Does it make a difference if you are booked with FD or can anyone make a request?

I'm not sure I understand this. You can still request a specific area with your TA and if there is anything available in the allowed allotment for FD then it should be honoured. But all requests do need to go through your TA.

Can anyone tell me what areas the connected rooms are in?
I would like 60's or 70's lakeview. Can I get connecting rooms there?

Thanks! I didn't know if they put FD people in certain rooms or buildings.

New to posting been lurking since 2010. Going to Disney in Oct 2014 with family, I will be 66 then, I'm in very good shape, thank the lord, I have no walking problems, that being said, I'm debating on preferred vs standard room, in 2011 I choose preferred, in 2012 I didn't (solo trip), I stayed both trips at ASMU and got stuck in the Rock section in the standard room, at the end of the day I wished I would have gotten preferred, never stayed at POP before, excited about staying there, I know the layout of the building appears to be closer than the ASMU rooms, is a preferred room necessary at POP? Any advise would be appreciated, thank you in advance

My 2 cents is that a preferred room is not necessary at Pop. I always book a standard room and have had rooms all over the resort. The walk is fine. I think that, at the end of a long day, a walk from the bus to anywhere feels a lot longer than it really is. I would save your money for something else.

Yes, there are several sets of connecting rooms in every building.

Nope! FD reservations are the same as any others. Any of the same requests can be made.

I have stayed at all Disney Properties,,I am very lucky...
I have stayed at POP 4 times now,,and have really liked it ,,in the past. The last trip was SO UNCOMFORTABLE!! The Bed was so hard and felt like sleeping on Hay in a mattress........I don't remember them being so hard!!!. The management said that the beds are the same throughout the resort...Has anyone stayed there recently that can comment on the beds??? I really want to book it...but don't know IF I can sleep there ...Thank You....:confused3

Hi all! I booked my first stay at Pop with RO discount for the first week in December! I have only been to WDW once before in August 2012 and we thought it would be our ONLY trip for years so we went all out and stayed AKL. However I fell in love with WDW and didn't want to leave. So because we spent so much last time we figured if we wanted to visit again so soon we'd have to go value. I debated on going mod but even with discounts a mod was 500 more than Pop. Also last time we didn't fully enjoy AKL bc we spent ALL of our time in the parks. We basically just slept at AKL. Pop just looks like a fun resort too. It is just DH and I so we're a little worried about the noise level but hopefully we will love it and it will be the perfect fit for us since we spend all our time at the parks anyway.

I want to call and make my room recommendations but I'm debating on what to ask for. I want a 'quiet location' if possible. Lake view seems like a good request but I'd rather be in the 50s/80s/90s section so I feel like if I request lake view I might get 60s or 70s. 50s I want just for Lady and the Tramp. I love that movie! 80s and 90s section bc DH and I are big geeky gamers and the thought of a computer pool is just too cool to resist. Also I was born in 80 and he in 76, so we are both children of the 80s (and 90s teens) so I think we'd really enjoy that 'memorabilia' best. I am almost tempted to JUST ask for 80s and 90s but I also really want to stay in 50s too. :rotfl:

Decisions decisions... :scratchin Any suggestions?

This thread is so awesome. I subscribed and will contribute if I can, but I'm a Pop virgin so I will probably be asking more than answering. :goodvibes

:flower3: Thanks in advance to suggestions!!

For those that are wondering what the Illuminations view looks like. 2012, 50's Tramp building (too lazy to go look up the number!). This was the 3rd floor I think. AoA shouldn't block this at all, they were working, but AoA is actually to the left and wouldn't obstruct the view. It was nice to see at night, I could actually see it from the bed with the door open. (but as others have said, it's just a little perk, you can only see the high ones and it does not replace actually seeing it in person)

Thank you sooo much for sharing your photos, I hope I get the opportunity to scoot over and watch illuminations during our stay :goodvibes

Here you go:

Sunday: A Bug's Life
Monday: Alice in Wonderland (1951)
Tuesday: Finding Nemo
Wednesday: Dumbo
Thursday: Lilo & Stitch
Friday: Peter Pan
Saturday: The Muppets

Do you know when they'll have the September movie list out??

I 2nd this. One year I paid the extra hundred on a preferred room only to go the following year without doing preferred and ended up being closer to the main hall than my preferred stay. Save the money!

I've heard other people say the same thing, that the beds are really firm. I'm not sure when the most recent round of mattress replacements took place, but it is something they do every so often. My bed at home is super soft (it's almost like a hammock lol), but I know some people who love a very firm bed. I wish they were soft! I'm pretty good at sleeping anywhere, though, and I think the firm beds are probably better for your back?

I'm not sure there's anything you can do about it, though, since all the beds are the same. :headache:

Yes, this is what I usually recommend to people.

However, if you want the peace of mind that you're going to at least be in one of the closest rooms, it might be worth it to some people. At least you'll be guaranteed not to get stuck in the far end of building 2 of the 50s section :headache:

Noise can be a factor anywhere you stay, really. Yes, POP might be a bit more chaotic at times, but I have yet to experience a situation where I couldn't sleep or where things didn't settle down at night. After midnight, it's very peaceful. If you plan on getting up early (7 AM or so) I don't see there being any issues whatsoever. If you sleep in when everyone is getting up and little kids are running all over the place, it can get a bit noisy in the morning or during the day. But all in all, I've never had any problems with the noise.

Keep in mind that if you check in online you can make 2 requests, and over the phone they may let you make more.

Some people like to ask for 4th floor for less noise, since you won't have anyone above you. I like the 50s section, too. If you booked a standard room and you request lake view, you'd likely get 50s, 60s, or 70s.

If it were me, I'd request 50s and lake view, and just hope I don't get a noisy family above me. Even then, like I said, I've never had any problems from maybe about midnight to 6:00 AM, which is my most critical sleeping time. If you call in, they might let you add 3 requests, in which case you could go Lake View, 50s, and 4th floor. That sounds like what would be ideal for you.

The 80s/90s section is probably the shortest walk to the buses because you have a chance to cut across the parking lot straight to the buses. That's probably the biggest benefit of that section. But I like the slight nostalgia feeling of the 50s decade, and I love the look of the Lady and the Tramp and the jukebox more than the computer and things at the 80s/90s section.

Checked out of POP today and I would definitely stay there again. It was really fun. DS could not get enough of the big arcade and the pool. It was nice to watch the kids play games at the main pool.

I didn't not really care for the food court. I think I would have liked the old menu better. We walked over last night and ate at AOA.

The buses were very good. We never waited more than 5 minutes.

Mousekeeping was good, the room was clean and in good condition. The wi-fi was really good. I had my luggage transferred over to POFQ and received it around 3pm.
