Do you know if you can see illuminations from 50s lake view?

Yup, I took several pictures of Illuminations from right outside my door in building 3 in February 2012. You can also see them from the 4th floor of 2 (lakeview side) and building 4 in the 60s. If you don't get a 4th floor room or even in one of those buildings you could still walk up there right around Illuminations start time and hang out to watch one evening. :thumbsup2

Hi....anyone online that has stayed in a room at Pop with a comfy bed? If so,,,,which building,,and which room please!!! Thank You:cool1:

Granted it was 2009, but our beds were just fine! :thumbsup2

We were in the 70's building. I would have to dig out our old paperwork for the room number.

I'm staying at POP again next month....I could report back! :goodvibes

Well at best I think all the beds are firm. They replaced them all when they did the refurb. I don't think you are going to get a soft bed at pop.

^This. All the beds were replaced in 2010 with the same mattresses. Some may be a bit more worn and feel slightly different, but they are all the same mattress so not much variety in how they feel.

For what it's worth, I have never had top floor at Pop and have never noticed noise from above. I don't know if others have had a different experience, though. If you end up with a pool-facing room, it will be loud at all hours of the day and some of the night. :p So if you like the 50's section, request that you are not facing the pool. The 70's section does not have a pool so it's pretty quite and it is a short walk to either the computer or the hippy dippy pool.

Well I have to disagree with the statement about a pool facing room being noisy all hours of the day and some of the night. In the 60's, ABSOLUTELY!!! In the 80's/90's...PROBABLY, I only spent one night out there and it was the night from HELL and insisted they move me. I have stayed Pool view in the 50's (both bldgs 1 & 3) and it is LOVELY & QUIET...peacefully quiet!!! They don't play music at the bowling pin pool. And for awhile it wasn't even 'guarded'. Often when I would leave my room, there was NO ONE in the pool. So my experiences are VASTLY different than yours. I have spent a LOT of time at POP so that pool is not always noisy. Thus far, I have never witnessed it, not saying it can't or doesn't happen, but I have been there at 'supposedly busy' times with the exception of Cmas, thanksgiving & Easter weeks! But I have been the during Marathon weekends, MLK weekend, Spring break, w/ the BTGs, the peak of summer...those are busy times. :)

Do they still have hot water at the food court? Would like to have my ramen noodles :)

We stayed at POP 2 nights this past week then switched to POR and hubby and I noticed the difference in the beds the first night at por. Pop does seem to have harder beds. My back hurt both days at pop but did not at poor.
Now, it could have been just because it was not MY bed. We do love pop but since the food court has went downhill we are glad we did not stay there for our full 10 day stay. We did 2nights pop, 4 at riverside and go to Coronado tomorrow for our last few days.

I will say that I will be returning to Disney in Oct and would stay at pop then, only because it will be a short 5night stay. I do love the overall feel of the resort.

I'm SO glad that you didn't see my post as an argument. :)
I don't like to argue but do like to share my experience. And from staying at POP so much, 118 days overall and 38 just this year, I think I have some pretty good ideas about the resort. No, I clearly don't know everything, but I have experienced a good bit while staying there so much. Even the CMs comment very few guests spend that amount of time at any of the resorts. Yes, my DD's CM discount made it very doable! I spent less on those 38 nights then many people spend on a week (incl their tickets! I already had an AP from last year.)
My only intention around here is to try and help others out with what I have learned from staying there...nothing else. Cheers! :)

I'm so excited to say we will be at the POP next month!

from some rooms (top floor 50's section, mostly bldg 2) you can see the tops of the fireworks, far off. it definitely is NOT a replacement for seeing the show at the park.. just something to look for, if you think of it, if you are at the resort anyway. sorry to disapoint you, but you don't want the kids to miss out, thinking you will actually see the fireworks show from the resort.

the best place to see Illumination (epcot) from outside the park is the bridge between boardwalk and beach club. pretty nice if you aren't using a park ticket that night, but in no way a good substitute.

second for this is from the bar area next to the main pool at Carribean Beach resort.

for wishes, you can see them from the Ply beach, or from the boat dock area outside gasparilla Grill at GF.

but don't expect seeing the tops of the fireworks from pop to be a substitute for the real thing. you don't want to miss either Wishes (MK) or Illuminations (epcot).

Thanks so much for the info!

No problem, I know we were both just sharing our experiences! It's good to have a lot of different perspectives floating around. :)

everytime I've been by the bowling pin pool, I could hear 50's music in the background (not during the night). i'ts pretty quiet, but it's there.

any pool can be loud cepending on the guests. we had a great experience on the 2nd floor facing the pool at the home run section of Sports. the next trip horrible. (Brazilian soccer group)

it could be a tour group, or it could just be a larger family who is noisy. all depends on the guests at that time,(and how well they enforce the "quiet after 10pm" rule.) they were horrible about enforcement at sports in July. I heard pop is better about it.
