cant wait until september im now home on sick leave for the second week so need something to look forward

I remember you were having surgery, if is over, do hope your recovery goes smoothly and quickly. :goodvibes And being home/recovering means you will have plenty of time to DIS! :cool1:

Dh and I are heading to Disney for our 10 year anniversary(childfree). We (I) decided I would like to save money and stay at a value instead of a mod like we have in the past with our boys. We probably won't use the pools much and don't spend much time at the resort except to sleep so it made sense to me. Dh was totally against it because he likes the mods (only stayed at CBR and CSR) but I booked it so I won! :-) We check in next Friday (4th) at POP! We are very excited...the fridges and wi-fi definately made my decision easier for dh to accept now!!

I have a really strange question!!!!

Here's the scenario! We spending a week at POP during free dining, have the package booked, which includes park tickets, etc.

DH just got word that he's being sent to a conference in Orlando (woo hoo!) for 4 days directly before we had planned on starting our vacation. Staying at POP will be cheaper than where the conference is, so his employer is totally cool with us staying at POP, so we are now planning on adding on 4 days to the beginning of our vacation at POP. With me so far???

Anyway, I know our resort bill will reflect all the days we are there, plus the park tickets.

If I tell POP the situation, do they have the capability of printing me a bill that only shows the first 4 days, without the park tickets, so DH can present it to his employer for reimbursement?

Being sick for the last few days has really thrown me off! I missed the new thread starting!

But it's ok, I'm here now!

Hi! Okay, you have POP & FD for your vacation. When you add the additional 4 days to the front end of your trip, do you plan to add the 4 days as a room only or under the FD promotion? For business purposes it might be better to hold a room only, request your park tix ahead of your package (believe you can request up to 3 days prior to your package date) and pay out of pocket for your meals. Disney does not break out prices on their invoices when it includes a package. Perhaps another poster might know how to get a detailed invoice; or suggest you call Disney directly and explain what you need. :goodvibes

If you hold a Room only reservation, you can link the two reservations, so all you would need to do is check out after the 4 days (business portion for your DH) and check back in under your FD package ... you should be able to keep the same room. :goodvibes And you will have an invoice for expense reporting.

Well, I'm glad you won out! Seriously, hope you two have a fantastic anniversary trip and enjoy being at POP. :hippie: IF you have time and would like to, please post a mini review of your trip. Always good to see POP from a newcomer's view. :cool1:

Sorry you have been ill, but glad you're okay now and that you found us!! :woohoo:

Was hoping to do free dining for the 4 days too! I know, I'm greedy! LOL!! But it's still cheaper than the conference rate they got for Gaylord Palms (where his work thing is), and I don't think free dining costs the employer anything since we are paying for the park tickets?

If I do it that way, maybe I can just get a full invoice, and do the math myself on the invoice? I actually know what the exact difference will be since I currently hold a reservation that doesn't include those 4 extra days.

His employer is very cool when it comes to business trips, and allows the whole family to come along, so we don't need to hide the fact that the kids and I are in the room, or that we are getting park tickets, etc. If POP can't seperate the invoice, then maybe I can just do the math myself on it!

Thanks so much!!! :goodvibes

What if you priced out just the room online for those 4 days? Would the employer count a quote as sufficient?

Totally understand your thinking (and your DH is getting his meals free on the QS, or the regular DP if you upgraded). I would call Disney and ask to speak with Guest Services and explain your situation. It's possible that they can assist you or direct you to someone else. Back office accounting should be able to construct an invoice .... of course, if Disney will allow it. If not, and the company is flexible with your submitting the invoice less the personal days, great! :goodvibes

Thanks so much everyone!! Going to get the quote for a 4 day room only reservation, along with our fiull invoice, and will also have DH just explain to the employer that we are booked on the FD package, but that the room for 4 days is $______, and we are paying the rest!

So psyched to get 4 extra days at Disney (even if DH will be in meetings during the day, we can still hit the parks each night)!

Ok,Ok, theres been SO many room location questions recently that it's prompted me to ask about something different, yet SO important...FOOD!!!:goodvibes

Tell me some of your favorite meals/desserts/snax you've had at POP!!

As stated before my family of 6 will being staying at POP for the 1st time in August and we WILL be utilizing the food court for several meals.

Thanks all!

Ah food!! Food at Disney! Food at Pop Century! On that I can comment.

I have had their adult breakfast platter and their western omelet. to be honest, either is a palatable breakfast meal. Filling. I liked both of them but would only give them a 3 out of 5. They are rather bland but they do let you "fuel up" for the day ahead.

The fruit cup is a great dessert or snack and is filled with fresh fruit. Reallly delicious. Primarily melon, grapes and apple slices. 5 of 5.

For lunch/dinner I really like the flat breads. The Chicken Med Flatbread is absolutely delicious. Again, 5 of 5.

The Turkey Ciabetta is also a delicious sandwich that I have really enjoyed. As I recall my wife ordered one and found that it had onions which she doesn't like. When she mentioned that to the CM's they quickly prepared another one without onions. Great service. Again, 5 of 5. Really delicious.

I also like the Chicken Caesar Salad. I love caesar salads in general and enjoyed this one. The breadsticks they serve with this meal vary in degree of freshness so I'll give this one a 4.5 of 5.

The Chicken Penne Alfredo and the Parmesan Crusted Chicken are good but it's been a while since I've had either so I won't rate them. I recall that they came with breadsticks as well.

I have a fondness for oriental food so I really liked the beef and broccoli. Just a basic wax box full of chinese take out. I recall the beef being a bit tough, otherwise delicious. Maybe 4.5 of 5.

The Shrimp lo mein is one of my favorites. It's the same as vegetable lo mein with shimp added. Again, its just good chinese takeout in a wax box but it's hot and has all those wonderful oriental flavors I really enjoy. 5 of 5.

I have never ordered the family meal or the pizza so I can't speak to either of those.

The Carrot cake and the Chocolate cake are the same individual servings that you'll get any where in WDW. Both are very sweet and hit the spot for a convenient sweet dessert.

The Grab and Go area is well stocked with fruit, soft drinks, yogurt, juices, beer, wine, cookies, etc.

i promise you won't go hungry. Hope you have a great trip.

I have the "Disney Dining" iPhone app on my phone that gives me all the menus for on-property restaurants. I can only assume that they are up-to-date.

Anyway, that's my $0.02.

Another vote for the shrimp lo mein!! I'm not a big fan of the food courts at any resort but I do LOVE this. And I live in an area where good Asian food is plentiful. Its also enormous and could easily be shared.

I will definately try to remember. We are on the QSDD so all the positive reviews on the food court (other than the crowd levels) are great. We are not a "table service" couple. We prefer to be wandering the parks and on rides than sitting waiting for a meal. We called with out room requests this afternoon...King bed, 50's, 4th floor lake view...hopefully we'll get at least one! LOL!

Heading back to POP three weeks from today with my 20 year old daughter. Some of you may remember that I was at POP last November with my DW,DD24, DSIL, and two DGD's. I developed pneumonia, and my vacation was seven days in a very non-Disney ICU.
The people at POP were so kind to all of us that I am returning twice this year. This May trip is with a bouncy 20 year-old, and the November trip this year will be with a bouncy 3 year-old granddaughter.
In three weeks, I'll feel like I'm at my second home. If you're there during the 14th to 21st, and see a 60 year-old guy grinning from ear to ear, that'll be me.

I went to Disney with my boys and husband last summer. :) We spent a week and LOVED Pop! That was our second visit to Pop.

We are planning to go back in 2013 and want to stay at Pop again.

I can't wait! :)

I found out that my sister had brain cancer though last summer while at Pop. I am a bit worried that I will associate Pop with this... it's always on my mind of course anyway... but I don't want to get there and all I think about is my poor sister. DO you think that will happen?

Speaking of food at POP - my sister and I are booked for SSR in Dec but are thinking of heading down on an evening flight one day early and we will probably stay at POP. I posted this on the restaurant board but I'm hoping the POP lovers have a bit more insight! How is the food court late night? My sister is soooo picky and I want to make sure she will be able to eat something like a salad or hummus or veggies. Any late night items that were still good?

hi - I just posted a question and saw your post and had to respond. I was also worried about something similar. My family went to Disney all the time up until my mom died and I thought for sure it would be just horrible to go back. I didn't find out the news in a certain place like you did while there but our last family vacation before she passed was there. Was it difficult at time? Yes. However I found myself remembering great memories and just being smothered by the joy of Disney which helped a lot. I think if there is anywhere that can make you feel better it's Disney. Maybe, if you start to think of it, take a small walk on your own. Or perhaps request a building other than the one you found out in (I still can't go back to the POLY as my resort). Thoughts are with you - I'm sure your family will provide enough love during that time that you'll be in a happy place

Can anyone give more info on this? Is getting your park tickets that are attached to your package early possible?

I am heading to Pop in Aug. Our package starts on 8/25 with Free Dining. My travels plans changed, I am leaving a day early now with kids on 8/24. I booked a Room only for Pop. I have spoke to 2 different people on the phone with reservations and they are telling me I can't not get my tickets on the 24th, I have to wait til the 25th. Bummed cuz it is my DD's 13th bday on the 24th and MK is open til 1 a.m.! She really wanted to go there on her bday.

Thanks!
