Thank you for starting this thread. My wife and are will be at WDW at the end of June. We know afternoon cloudbursts are common, as are heat and humidity. What type or brand will protect you from the rain, not be too heavy to wear in the hot, humid weather, and, can be worn on those few 'wet' rides, like Kali River Rapids. I like the sound of disposable ponchos from the dollar store as something light to fold and carry, and then throw away once used.

Yes and I think they are $8.00. We always bring from home - I found some at Walmart (in their camping section) for $1.00 and also at Target for $1.49. Just keep them in our backpack that we take to parks!
We typically just grab the $1 ones too..However on the last trip in February, we just didn't think about it and we got caught in a huge rainstorm. Talk about some pricey ponchos. I think for the 4 of us it was like $40 or something. We kept them, but there is no way we will ever get them folded up small enough to keep in the backpack, so I guess we will be taking the $1 ones for this upcoming trip.![]()
I've always thought the biggest problem with the $1 ponchos is that you've got to carry around a bunch of ponchos. Not a big deal if you're already carrying a bag but if you, like me, like to try to keep all of your day's needs in your pockets, it just adds bulk. Between my phone, extra batteries, water bottle, etc., my cargo shorts already look like I'm a chipmunk storing nuts for the winter.
With that being the case, I might bring one with me if it really looks like there is significant rain on the way, but if all I'm facing is the routine afternoon shower, it's worth just planning on ducking into a show, attraction, or shop for a bit -- and running the risk that I might have to buck up for the Disney poncho if a serious rain shower unexpectedly hits -- just to not carry it around.
To each their own though!![]()
Do the parks sell ponchos for kids if it rains? If so are they really expensive?
