Polynesian pool zero entry? poly guests only?

Interesting that no one mentioned this but Zero entry is in fact or came about because of the ADA as an accomodation to allow wheelchair users to be able to use the pool, the person can be wheeled into the pool with a plastic wheelchair, only trouble is the area is usually blocked with children and adults lying in the shallow water.
Of course I suppose the the life guard or pool attendents can tell them to move, should the area be needed.
The other way places meet this requirement is with a lift that lowers into the water which tends to frequently break down.
Being the Dad of a wheelchair-bound (due to CP) 6 yr old DS (redheaded like Daddy and cute as a button), we love zero-entry pools, esp Uzima Springs at AKL! Never had a problem with ppl blocking our way in, but then again we usually go at off-peak times. DS loves the weightless feeling in the pool. Since he can not move his body independently, floating is the only way he can become free of the tyranny of earth's gravity. Pretty cool for us.

Let's see, the Zero-entry pools I can name off the top of my head at WDW are: Poly, SAB at YC/BC, Uzima Springs at AKL and the High Rock Springs at the new SSR. Any I am missing here?

DD and I just returned from the Poly during Easter week, and, although the pool was in use all day, it never seemed jam-packed, as many describe. There were always chairs available, maybe not in the shade, but those are few and far between anyway!! We had a very enjoyable stay at the Poly, even with it being booked to capacity, and we won't hesitate to return!!::yes::

Don't you all think that with the increased complaining from Poly resort guests about the pool hoppers they will be inclined to do something about it? The squeaky wheel gets the grease as they say, more Poly guests should complain. Think this would help?

Definitely. The problem is many will come to Internet forums such as this one and complain but not contact Disney about it.

I also read in the past, That the "insurance" was better on these types of pools, and the depth of disney pools has also gone way down. You can barely find anything "new" being built deeper that 4.5 ft. This was explained to us by a life guard at the CR when we asked why the pool even thou its not 0-entry was very shallow 3.5 to 4 ft. and they gave the above explaination.

We love the 0-entry pool at the Poly cause that stays nice and crowded and the "quiet" pool, QUIET and relaxing, for the most part. (also much deeper). ;)

I have witness many embarressed people over the years having been asked for id at the CR & Poly and not being able to produce the proper id, asked to pack up and leave immediately. Especially in the summer when its really crowded. The guards just cruise around to all the chairs and ask for the resort id, and check, even thou you have an wdw id card (from another resort) it won't work, there is a code for each resort in the #'s and they can tell if you belong, Or you have your dvc pool hopping privilage to be there also.

Have a great summer, MKY princess:
