Polynesian FAQ Thread??

I have looked at and read the sticky post for the WDW resort faq's looking for the Polynesian thread. Doesnt seem to be one. Does anyone know if there is a seperate one going? Did a search also that came up zero.

Aloha Kacey.......Thanks, I have Steves site bookmarked, great site, very helpful! The DIS boards are so active with such regular updates that it would make sense to have one. Theres no other unbiased forum site like it. Especially with all the questions regarding concierge and building renovations and quests being satisfied vs. unsatisfied.

If anyone wants to start one they are free to do so. You just need to keep an eye on it. I think the Tikiman site works well for most Poly fans.

I agree that Steves site is the most wonderful, and most up to date info and pictures website dedicated to the Polynesian Resort on the whole web.

What its missing is an unbiased forum as I said in my original post.( I am aware of the Echo)

Since we have never been to this resort and our first visit to the Polynesian is later this year, I have no information to offer in starting this thread. I was hoping for someone with know how to offer assistence. The thing the DIS boards are best known for

Tikiman's site is great for facts and photos, but....... I too (before our trip last fall) was looking for an unbiased thread with more specific info. Oh well!

it really is excellent. The website is current and comprehensive and even though my experiences are sometimes different than Steve's at Poly Conc., I don't find his website is opionated. It is very fact-based with a logical flow. Threehearts

I dont recall anyone saying HIS website was opionated........

I think a FAQ thread would be great. I love Tikimans site and his opinions on the longhouses etc. However there are no real updates from others latest trips. But I guess posting it here is also good.

YES......this is what I meant. Keeping it here on the DIS boards. I cant go to the Echo Forum that Steve (Tikiman) has a link to on his site. (Everytime I do I get a port scan attack to my computer from Comcast.com.)

Thumpersfriend...Have you been to the Polynesian yet? Any info ?
I'd like to see something like Majestic and others have done on the WL faq's thread that is permanent.
Does anyone know how to do that? It has pictures and every bit of info one wud need and then as needed folks can post and ask questions and get answers. Pro or Con.........

Yes my DD and I went April 88-21 and had a great time. I probably looked at Tikiman's site every day and really enjoyed it. We had never been to the POly before and always went to FW and used the cabins. I noticed that the volcano pool is really quite small, especially from the pictures. I also thought SAmoa was a little farther away than the pictures. It is realllllly close! I guess that other resorts have a FAQ page so it would be nice. Sometimes I notice on this board if someone complains about the Poly then others get very defensive and this doesn't help anyone if you have never been to this resort. I don't think it was worth $350 a night for the room but I think you are really paying for the whole atmosphere. I know the first day I was there and saw the room I was dissappointed but as we walked around ,the feeling just hits you that this is where you should be. I noticed too that Tikiman got pretty upset about one of the threads and said he wouldn't be on this board for a while. I hate to see this type of thing happen,but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Some resorts have 2 major threads. #1. faq. # 2. questions & answers, / Or discussion thread. That might be what we need? Somewhere to keep the "body" of questions togther.

The poly is a great resort, yes, I don't exactly get the tikiman service either (would love to but....) we continue to return. I am thrilled about the re-do! Just worried about the price after they are done? We have had mostly great rooms, service. We love the cm's and people are very special. I enjoy the "feel" of the resort. Yes, the price is steep. I would not stay there if not for the ap pricing.

I just want to make it clear that I have never said someone cannot have any type of opinion they want about the Polynesian. I have NEVER told someone they could not say something negative about the resort or that they were wrong for their impressions. The only thing I ever correct is misinformation or sometimes give my understanding of the reason why something bad happened. I usually let the Polynesian know when I hear something bad happened and if they give me an answer as to why it might have happened I try to post it.

I spend much of my time (that I don’t have much of with a baby and a full time job) helping others and supplying information. I get nothing in return and I ask for nothing in return. Lately I have been getting nasty emails and comment directed at me on the DIS about being the “Poly police” or “Poly protector” and I feel it is completely uncalled for. The posting that got me upset I even told the original poster that I felt her observations were accurate and I appreciated her feedback. I have never attacked someone for posting a negative report so I don’t see where I deserved the comments. As I state on my web page I am not trying to talk anyone into going to the Polynesian. I just want to supply accurate information. I do post pros and cons but I am not going to have a list of every complaint that I have heard or have had myself. The point of the web page is to store information not opinions. If you want an opinion or negative remarks all anyone has to do is ask and I will supply that in an email. I also list negatives in my trip reports so I don’t see how everyone thinks the web pages are not showing both sides. The web page is not about sides but just facts. It is just an expanded version of a web page you would go to online that outlines a resort. Do you see in a description even on this site that says, 10% of the rooms have a reported smell or half the time there are no towel animals or 15% of the guests have experienced rude cast members? I don’t see the point in adding a (negative comments) page to my web pages but I would be happy to list my negative experiences anytime.

Since I cannot provide what everyone is looking for than I would be happy for someone to make a FAQ for the Polynesian.

I just don’t want to spend my time worrying about posting information somewhere because I will be labeled as someone who wants to argue with negative posts or does not allow other opinions. I still have not seen anyone show me something I have written that backs up that impression of me. There are plenty of people here that have been to the Polynesian more times than me that can answer your questions so I am going to more on to somewhere that I don’t have to deal with the negative comments towards me.

Sorry if I have offended you in anyway Steve. It was not my intention to do so. I was walking on eggshells when I made this thread because I specifically didnt want to offend you.
I cannot use the echo forum as everytime I do my computer is attacked with port scan attacks from Comcast. I think we really need the FAQ's for the Polynesian here as well as the Echo.

Again...I really hope you will come aboard on this effort Steve. we cud really use your help...PLEASE.

Nothing you posted offended me in any way.

I was not being sarcastic when I made the statement about making a FAQ for the Polynesian. I truly believe there are plenty of people here that have as much if not more knowledge about the resort as I do.
