Polynesian FAQ Thread??

I just went to tikiman's site and it not only was still there but it had pictures of the new refurbished rooms that were posted this week. Marilyn

Nope the site is gone - he retired it. What I find amusing is that I started a poly thread a few weeks ago and boy it got nasty. All I did was put my opinions of a concierge stay there and WOW!! Needless to say I will never voice my opinion on that hotel again. I have looked over tikiman's site and a lot of his posts on DIS, esp ones directed towards me and he is nothing but sincere and honest and NEVER flames anyone. I have spoken to him via email and I hope the best for him. His website is great but if it is giving him grief instead of pleasure then I don't want him to keep it up just for our sakes. I hope he is doing well.

I still get on his site and so do others. Another poster believes it was just his homepage that was hacked.

Nothing you posted offended me in any way.

I was not being sarcastic when I made the statement about making a FAQ for the Polynesian. I truly believe there are plenty of people here that have as much if not more knowledge about the resort as I do.

I am sorry but people do realize this is a message board, right? Hate mail - WOW, too far people, too far. Step away from the computer and realize the DIS isn't your life. Tikiman's website is wonderful but if he decides to shut it down, so be it. Fighting, screaming, pointing fingers and sending hate mail isn't do anything to help him change his mind to bring it back - that is for sure!!!

I feel bad for the OP, I don't think he wanted to cause any trouble. I could be dead wrong but these Poly threads can get very ugly sometimes. I don't recall any resort that gets folks so upset! What is this all about anyway? This is crazy!

I totally agree. The same thing happened to my post. It is funny, I now get people sending me PM's about their dislikes of the poly and they all say "I didn't want to post this on the forum for fear of flames and fights." It cracks me up that people are actually SCARED to post something negative about the Poly. So what?? There isn't a hotel in WDW that EVERYONE likes. My favorite is actually one that most people on here bash. I sure don't let it bother me or waste my time posting trying to prove other opinions wrong. If that is their opinion, so be it - if I like, I will stay there. If there is a new hotel that looks appealing to me, I will try that too. If someone switches a hotel that they want to try due to a few negative opinions on the DIS, then that is their problem too. Not mine. I love all the advice on here and people do have to realize that someone's negative post could be a positive for others, whether warning them of something or that their actual negative is a someone else's actual positive. It is all relative.

Come on people, lighten up - this is a helpful message board - nothing more nothing less!!!!!

Don't think this is the case...have you heard that it's his doing and not hackers? My husband, a software engineer, checked out all the techie stuff on his page and believes it is a hacker and that a firewall was not used to protect his page. Hope it's back and running soon...Steve is a class act and would likely not tell us all the details....I'm sure he's working on getting it back and up.

When Tikiman posts this and then that same day his website says he's retired, I would have to believe it. I may be wrong and hopefully I am.

Who knows what to think? But I do know he said his days on the Dis are over and the Dis has nothing to do with his own webpage...so I wouldn't make the leap without confirmation....it's mainly me hoping there's some hope out there for his site to stay up...we're planning our last trip to Disney (atleast for 10+) years and with the new room refurbs at Poly we were hoping we'd get some help planning it...my ds has asthma and it's always best to try and find the resort that has the newest rooms with less chance of having smoke residue or other issues like mold. Hoping for the best!
