We're heading down for a trip from 8/2 to 8/12. We stay off property, but in the past one thing we always do is stop by the Polynesian for lunch at Kona, followed by cocktails at the monorail resorts and a traditional Lapu Lapu at the Tambu Lounge.

Thought we have TiW and could valet, we usually just park in the open lot there. I've heard about the major construction at the Polynesian - just wondering if there is still parking there if we want to stop for lunch ? And has the construction impacted the Tambu Lounge at all ?

Thanks for any info.

If you have a Kona ADR there shouldn't be an issue unless the lot is at or near capacity. They're now scanning MB at the entrance to validate the reservation.

Staying off property they may not have a MB nor does a reservation have to be linked to an account.

That said with the TIW I always valet..super easy.

We won't have Magic Bands, as apparently you can't get them any way other than getting them mailed to your home address once you activate a new AP ... and we usually don't get ADRs for lunch. Sounds like just using valet is best.

We are semi local and have just gone over to have lunch without reservations a handful of times and never had a problem entering. Tell them we are there for lunch and usually even tell them what we are planning on ordering in idle chit chat and it's not been a problem even with the construction.

While this may have been your experience, I wouldn't count on it due to the numerous recent reports to the contrary. I read one review where the poster had to leave the parking lot, make an ADR via an iphone, and come back to the lot for entrance. I would imagine they are enforcing the 3 hour parking pass as well. I could spend well more than 3 hours on a monorail tour with drinks.

There is always the TTC.

Also, you can purchase a MB in shops and have them linked to your tickets. I don't know how that works with APs.

I have TIW and so does the OP so that will work for them for valet parking...which is my preference anyway. Even if I would rather self park I do the valet so I don't have to worry about running out to the lot in one of those pop up storms and since it's just the cost of the tip with TIW it's so worth it.
