We just got a PIN code, and it looks as though we'll be changing from the Contemporary to the Poly.

I've spent 5 months getting my kids all excited about the Contemporary, and now my son doesn't want to change. (Sorry, Brian, the adults make the choice!!!)

Anyway, what can you say to convince a stubborn 9 year old that he'll LOVE the Poly???

PS- He's also asking me to type "LET'S GO ISLANDERS!!!" That concession I'll give him!

The Volcano Pool!! :yay:
Check out the tiki man site (just google disney tiki man...) they show some great pics!

i love the poly!
cool tiki torch lightings at night
you can see the castle from the pool as you swim
volcano slide in pool
really yummy nonalc. drinks for kiddos
tonga toast
polynesian chips
sandy beach to play at
ducks that don't mind swimming with you in the quiet pool
great view of the fireworks and water parade
quick access to rooms...not multi floors and loads of elevators like Contemporary, etc
dole whips
geez,...i could go on and on

DD10 and DS10 :lovestruc the Poly. and so will your 9-year old son. The volcano pool, the beach, the arcade and Neverland Club, plus the ability to hop on the monorail to Epcot as well as MK. You can still easily get over to the Contemporary for meals. But gotta' ask - Can't you use your PIN on the Contemporary?

But gotta' ask - Can't you use your PIN on the Contemporary?

I did ask, but the answer is no. I'm not sure why... maybe they're trying to get people out of the Contemporary-- or that part of the Contemporary-- for the next phase of construction??

To be honest, I had never even considered the Poly when I was planning last summer. We're both teachers; this trip is quite a financial stretch for us. But I kept coming down to the convenience factor, and with the AAA discount it wasn't THAT much more than the Family Suites. The Poly is even more expensive; it simply was NOT in the cards for us.

I did show the kids pictures of the pool, and mentioned the Ferry as an alternative to the monorail-- I'm gaining them over. (And I know that they'll be giddy with joy no matter where we stay.)

Brian was pretty funny: "Sure, mom. You spent months and months getting me all excited about the Contemporary. Then you get a postcard, and now you're going to get me all excited about the Polynesian. Then you'll get a phone call and it will start all over again..."

Thanks to everyone for your help!

Did you get the 40% off card with the PIN code? You can use that for the CR (I have 2 ressies made with it already for the CR). Perhaps they just didn't have your dates? You could call back and check. I got the CR with a theme park view for $246/night + tax. The standard view was $162 + tax.

I'm sure the Poly is great too. We love the CR and it really is awesome to be able to walk to the MK. The theme park view tower rooms are usually so expensive that I am thrilled to get a discount - thought we'd not be able to afford them!:)
