Poll: Will you skip DHS in 2016?

I have never really loved DHS and consider it a half-day park, like many others. (I feel the same way about AK, but that's a different matter.) I could easily skip it, but we're taking our three-year-old who super loves all princesses. DHS has the Frozen show, Beauty & the Beast show, Little Mermaid show, and Disney Junior show and meet (this features one of her favorite princesses, Sofia the First). So, we are going for those shows, mostly.

We might go to rope drop to ride TSMM, take a break after lunch, go back for our ADR at Captain's Grille, and then watch Fantasmic. Or we'll stay at the park through our dinner ADR and then be done for the night.

Actually we are skipping WDW entirely in 2016, just like we skipped it in 2015. Until all the "new" attractions are open, it's just not worth it to us.

We were there all last week and we didn't skip DHS. We enjoyed the new launch bay meets, Frozen sing a long and the "new" GMR as well as all the headliners.

Plus the Star Wars fireworks were great! It felt like they were right over the top of us during the show.

I'm starting to think about plans for November 2016. With all the closures and construction, I'm considering skipping DHS this trip. What will you do?

What is your rationale behind skipping? The same number of things that are open there now, will be open there in November, no? I guess it just depends if what's there is appealing to you. We like RnR, ToT, TSMM, Star Tours... are any of those 4 closing for the new construction? If you're a Star Wars fan, it's a must-do. If not, it's a good 4th park to do if you have 5 or more days to spend at parks. If you have 4 or fewer days, HS becomes the first park I'd nix from a trip if time just did not allow all 4 or if you wanted a 2nd day at the MK.

Right now, this is unknown. November is 10 months away and Disney usually does not provide a 10 month lead time when it comes to closures. Neither The Backlot Tour, Animation Academy, One Man's Dream, Mulch, Sweat and Shears nor Osborne Lights were closed with that much lead time. (Well, I suppose you could say that Osborne Lights were, since they announced that this would be the last year, and therefore next year's lights would have been a full year out. But the announcement that this would be the last year was not made 10 months in advance of its last day this year.) So it is entirely possible that the Star Wars/Toy Story makeover will result in more closures by November without anything new being added between now and then. Still, your overall point remains solid. The most major attractions aren't likely to be closed in November.

No, we will be spending two full days there during our 12 day trip this Feb/March. We will see Fantasmic one night with the package lunch at Mama Melrose and are attending the Star Wars Symphony in the Stars dessert party the other night after an early dinner at HBD. During the days, aside from our FP+ for TSMM, and ToT, we will see Beauty and the Beast, Lights, Motors, Action, Muppets, Indian Jones, ride Star Tours as many times as possible, have lunch at Sci-Fi and cupcakes at Starring Rolls and enjoy many of the other attractions and ambience of the park.

No but we are going at the end of February so before all the closures and when there's the SW fireworks. In fact, for the first time DHS is a must since DH have never seen Light Motor Action! and my family (except me) loves SW. This year the park we are skipping is Epcot.

Maybe cause I'm going in 2 weeks my opinion is different, but I'm looking forward to going while all my favorites are still there and I can make memories and capture pictures one last time.

Still plenty to do for us. We spend a full day and still skip plenty. And other then the meet and greets, we never did any of the stuff that has closed anyways. We have a 12 day trip planned for this year and I'm sure we will do 2 full days there.

We are heading to the World in November and are planning to skip DHS this year. We love TOT and Toy Story, but it isn't worth it for a park day anymore. We don't get hoppers, so it would have to be the park of the day. Instead, this year we are going to try the oft talked about "down day" during our trip so we can really explore Disney Springs and truly have time to enjoy the pool.

No way. We filled an entire day last spring without getting to everything so I have no doubt we can do the same again this year. Besides we would never go to WDW and miss Fantasmic!

We have just had a week visiting the mouse and had a full day doing Hollywood Studios. We then went back one afternoon to finish off four attractions we had not done. Also made sure that we got into Lights Motors Action as I thought that might be going. I also wondered what would be left and it was strange visiting last year with closure of the back lot tour.
We really enjoyed our visit this time and the park is Star Wars crazy! I believe at least 2/3 of guests had a star wars T shirt and the new star wars attractions are brilliant. We also love the vibe when evening starts and they have the street party in front of the Chinese theatre and Star wars fireworks are a must.
We are going back in August and will definitely be visiting.

We used to easily skip this one when DS was little, but squeezed it in last trip, and were glad we did. We had a great time!

That said, we're probably skipping WDW all together this year. We visit family in Florida most years, but tend to alternate which theme park we tack on to the trip. This year will be our first at "that other place" since the newest Harry Potter stuff, though, so I'm excited to see that!

I plan to go and see what I need to see at HS on arrival day, and then head back to the hotel to the pool to relax It's my first WDW trip, so I don't want to miss it completely, but I'm not going to force myself to stay there for hours, either, if I don't end up wanting to!

Will not skip....Fantasmic, Muppets, Star Tours, TSM....and the hilarious Hollywood Public Works [although that's during the day]. So yes, the park is becoming somewhat of a toss-up as to whether to go or not but I like going and then maybe taking the walk to Boardwalk and then EPCOT. I also want to take a bunch of pictures so when they finally finish all of the updates, I can reflect on how it used to be.

DD would never allow me to skip this park. She is going on Star Tours for the first time this summer. We are looking forward to the Star Wars Fireworks which I am sure are not leaving this park. DD also loves TSM, RR and ToT.

It will definitely be a half day park at this point which is fine with me as AK looks like it will be a full day this year for us, first time ever.

AK am planning the Wild African Trek (3 hours) then head back to GF for a bit and then return in late afternoon for Everest, Kali, evening safari and the Rivers of Light show. Since sunset on the day I am planning AK isn't until almost 8pm I'm going to just assume for now that AK will stay open until 9am and plan accordingly.

I wouldn't ..
Despite going last August and spending a full day there .. there is still plenty we missed and would want to do again:

1) It's my favorite park (even with all the changes .. it will probably become MORE)
2) All the Star Wars stuff was added after my last visit in August
3) My son is finally tall enough to go on Star Tours
4) TSMM is a pretty fun ride for familes.
5) I want my wife to see Fantasmic (my son pooped out before the show started last August) .. I also want to get her on TOT .. but that is a long shot.
6) It is the best park to be at at night.

Now .. that being said, if they close more attractions? Maybe .. especially since I will be wanting to go to AK for Rivers of Light and Epcot for the new Frozen and Soaring rides.

We're going! I also think that we'd just go for ToT alone. It's my dad's favorite ride there's no way we'd skip it. Plus I have to meet Chewbacca again. I met him in the early 90s. He was amazing and stole my 11 year old heart! Have to see him again! I wouldn't dream of disappointing my inner child!
