Okay, so I have been mulling over this for weeks. Pete is always happy and appreciative with whatever gifts he gets and never whines or complains about not getting things he wants. :teeth:

This year, Pete REALLY wants these Lego Bionicle shoes. I mean REALLY wants them. He quietly and shyly asks me every day if I think he might be able to get these shoes for Christmas. He even asks me to look on E-Bay.

Here is the thing. They are $ 40.00!!! $ 40.00 for shoes that probably won't fit him in two months. Ugh! :guilty: I have searched all over the Internet and everywhere and this is the best price.

What would you do? He is so pitiful. :guilty:

My dd really wants a puppy, and I cannot handle that, so it would be nice to help another kid get his wish! DD did ask Santa for a Barbie and is getting two, so Maybe that will help her broken heart!

I say buy them! (This from the mom of the kid who probably owns more Bionicle stuff than any kid in the US...)

Those are really cool looking shoes, and if 13yo DS didn't wear a size 13 adult, I might consider getting them for him! Even after your DS outgrows them, they'll still be cool looking.

Have you seen the Bionicle electric toothbrushes? We got some on clearance a while back, so they may not be available any more...

Edit: Ooops! This is Barb D. I keep not noticing when DD logs in!

I say buy them - he will never forget it, even if he grows out of them quickly!

Yup....I'd buy them in a heartbeat... and I am really CHEAP. If my child truly wanted only one thing and it was within reason (less than $100) I think I would probably buy it. The problem with my DS is that he wants EVERYTHING he sees on tv! ...............P

Buy them!! Someday you will look back and say"remember when all he wanted were those silly shoes".

My DS (15) still says "mom - remember when you bought me the Wayne Gretsky sneakers"......seems like a lifetime ago as we now buy size 12 Etnies!!

I'd say buy them. Paying $40 is nothing! I pay $40-$50 every few months just for DD's Stride Rite tennies. That doesn't even include her other types of boots and shoes she has.

Oh yea I'd buy them, then sit back on Christmas morning and enjoy the smiles.

You won't regret it, you'll remember it, and so will he. Be sure to share a pic of that face when he sees them Christmas morning. :D

I agree, buy them. It's something he really wants and $40.00 is really not all that crazy.

Oh, those look like fun for a little guy!

I'd absolutely do it. How often to you get a chance to thrill someone by presenting him with his heart's desire? I'd pay $40 for that any day. :)

It depends. I'm absolutely against buying a child every single thing he or she "must" have. I know a lot of people who take their children's Christmas list and purchase every item on it! But I gather, from your post, that you don't over indulge your son. He accepts when he doesn't get what he wants and that is a good sign that you have raised him right. Since he wants the shoes so bad, I'd probably go ahead and get them.

I would buy them. But then you are talking to someone who also buys $70 football jerseys for my kids.

Buy them!!!I wish my kids sneakers only cost 40 bucks!!

I'd buy them. My kids don't ask for much for Christmas, so when they ask for something in particular, I try really hard to get it. This year they want $45 Barbie vacuum cleaners. What a huge waste of money - but it is really the only thing they asked for, so they are getting them.

Have a wonderful holiday!

Go now and get them for him! You will make him happy and to make yourself happy, buy them a little bigger than normally, to get a little extra out of the shoe.

Last pair of sneaks my DS8 wanted cost me $85!

Where is the love? Everywhere

Where is the money? Nowhere, but who cares? :cool1:

As the mom of 5 DCherubs, I say buy them. Can you get them a half size bigger so he lasts a little longer? My 15 yo wears a size 15 so I hear you on going through shoes. I look at it this way with my boys-3 of them. I buy several different shoes and a pair of sneakers and boots for my girls. For my boys they have a pair of workboots, 1 or 2 pairs of sneakers and winter boots. They wear sneakers almost every day and they beat the heck out of them, hey they are boys. Now my girls can have these shoes and grow out of them and they still look new not the boys. I have no problem spending 40 or more on shoes for them, up to say 60 then I have a problem, lol. I was looking at the Circuit City Ad this morning and DS, almost 12, wants an MP3 player. Now I am still trying to figure out how to use a VCR, lol, so MP3 is a code to me. :D I aksed DS, 15, about it as it is on sale and this is all he wants. DS gave me a little attitude about it being stupid and so on. I looked at DS and reminded him about the Power Ranger thing he had to have when he was 9 or so. He smiled and said yeah, I guess you are right Ma, get it for him. He will remember it forever. Happy Holidays! :flower1:
