Buy 'em!!

For years our kids weren't allowed to watch commercial TV. Then we allowed The Disney Channel. Then it was Nick and Cartoon Network (judiciously) but they had to mute the commercials. Now they watch a lot more commercial TV, but ONLY on weekends. I was surprised this year at how much trouble they are having coming up with their gift lists! We've told them Christmas will be scaled back a lot since we are going to Disney less that a month later, but their lists are for both Christmas and their birthdays (oldest son is 12/15 and twins are 12/30) for us, their grandmothers, and their aunt and uncle. I think there are fewer "gimmies" when kids watch less TV--or at least they are forgotten more quickly!

I voted "Don't buy 'em, it would be a waste of money!"
Only one other person agrees with me. Oh well.

Well, 50 so far for buy 'em, so I bought them. They will be here in a couple days. I think I am as excited as he will be. It's going to be hard for me to continue to tell him, "well, we will see, they are a lot of money, Pete" but I do want him to be surprised. I can't wait to see the look on his face Christmas morning.

Thanks everyone. :teeth:

I was going to say buy them, but since you already did I will say Good Job! :teeth:

He is going to be soooo excited. You'll have to tell us his reaction! :cool1:

Coming from a Mom who HATES to spend a lot on kids shoes, I voted for buy them. If they are a Christmas present, and he never asks for much, it seems as though he's not a brat and probably deserves them! :) Just let him know that this won't be a regular occurance! LOL ;)

I think you made the right choice to buy them.

They were $40 which is a lot of money, but it somehting he can use everyday. How many parents spend that on a toy that a kid only plays with a few times. Even if he grows out of them in 2 months, he still got 60 days of use out of them.

His face will be priceless Christmas morning.

Buy them. If they have it in adult size 9, buy me one too, please! ;)

I would buy them, but buy them a bit big, so he can wear them longer. My kids get shoes a bit big often if they are more then $20

I say buy them. He will be sooooo happy. Plus the coolest kid on the block.

I'd buy them.:) But I'd get them a little larger than his current size though.:)
He's a size 1 now, so I ordered a size 2. Thought about getting a size 3 and stuffing the toe with toliet paper..... :p

Hee hee. :rotfl: I was thinking the same thing too. They are cool looking. I feel so much better now with everyone's support. :teeth:

I think that if this is something that Pete really wants, askes for daily in a good way (no whining), and is grateful for the things you buy him, well, I'd buy them for him in a heartbeat if I were you.

Just a thought....maybe save that present until last so that just when he starts to think that he isn't getting them, suddenly, there they are :flower:

I say go for it and buy the shoes! But as someone said earlier - I am a softie too! :)

so glad you ordered the shoes! pete sounds like a great kid. ::yes::

I actually bought a pair for my DS for Christmas. I say buy them too!

I'd buy them without a second thought! Perhaps you could buy them a half size too big so they will last longer than a couple of months?
I'm all for spoiling children, especially at X-Mas Time
