Do you have a picture of it (it doesn't have to be with you in it)?

Really, though, you should wear something that makes you feel comfortable, but sexy/beautiful at the same time. Wear some sexy underwear. Yeah, he won't see it, but it will make you feel sexy and that will show.

yeah, I posted it a little bit back, but I unfortunately couldn't post it as a photo, just a link. So, it didn't pop out or anything

Sadly no....

All of my necklaces are long necklaces, with exception of a strand of pearls. Oh, I do have a crucifix my mom handed down to me...I think I'll steer clear of that one for now.

Actual texting conversation between him and me this morning.

Me: Are fingers a dealbreaker?

Him: Random.

Him: Like if you showed up and were like, 'Btw, I have no fingers?' Yeah, that would probably put a damper on things.

Me: Rofl. Had to pump gas in -2 wind chill this morning...it took me almost an hour to fully feel my hands again. I just wanted to make sure.

Oh my....I just have to keep myself laughing....if I don't laugh, I'll start to get nervous.

Both dresses are cute.

I think the blue is perfect for a dinner date at a casual place :goodvibes Do you have something more feminine and less "librarian" than a brown cardigan to pair with it? I love cardigans, (and was a librarian) but just don't see that combo going off well. Maybe I am not visualizing it well though.

He sounds cute. :) Just go and have fun.

Oh, i take no offense at "librarian." It is fully librarian. But, it IS a Tommy Hilfiger sweater, so I try to justify that I am sort of styling. Maybe.

The thing about the red dress is I could wear my robot necklace! Lord, I am a geek. Lol.

I will take a picture of the ensemble when I get home so you can visualize it better.

I look forward to seeing the photo in the morning! :)

and don't get me wrong; I wear the librarian look a lot, and enjoy it. I just can't visualize the librarian cardigan with that dress, nor is that really a first date look IMO. The dress is perfect for a first date though :thumbsup2

Truly, if you are an adult then it is time to put on the big girl panties. You are obviously nervous, but really get a grip. Value yourself and your experiences.

You know what to eat, how to dress and what you think about yourself.

You say you are friends with this man, so he knows you already. Don't change because it is a "date".

Go and have a good time, be yourself and stop agonizing over every little thing. Be confident.

I think it will be fine, but I'm a fan of cardigans.

I'm sorry, but I don't see where you have had that dress approved by the Dis. Please report to the over 30 thread ;)

As a fellow picky eater (I went to China on a trip in high school and basically lived off fried rice), I can assure you that both teriyaki chicken and tempura are delicious! Alternatively, you could just be honest and say to him, 'I've never had Japanese before and I'm unsure what to order. What would you suggest?'. That's what I did the first time I went to a Japanese restaurant and a friend suggested the teriyaki and I was all good! Have fun!!!!

I think that second dress is lovely. Even if the cardigan is "stuffy" you can make it "unstuffy" by shoving the sleeves up to your elbows and wearing some fun bracelets. I wouldn't wear a necklace, do you have some nice dangly earrings instead?

I know some of our words may seem harsh. The intent is CONSTRUCTIVE even though it may not feel that way. I know it doesn't feel good to see some of that stuff, but it is also frustrating on our end to offer words of wisdom and know you're not "hearing" it. KWIM?

Be yourself but focus on trying to move forward in a mature manner. Mature does not mean wordly or experienced etc. It means having appropriate reactions to things. Think it, don't say it. You can be embarassed at something, but don't react or say anything. You can take one look and think you are meant for each other, think it don't say it.

Get comfortable first then let the quirk slowly shine through. Have fun, shine, be mature, get to know each other and over time you can slowly start to let it all hang out. There's a certain dance to meeting someone and moving forward with a relationship. Never let it all hang out at the start. It's like fishing you have to slowly reel them in...... :lmao:

mmmmm Japanese, I love Japanese and have loved it well before I started to enjoy sushi. :) And now, I adore sushi. LOL I just had to find what I liked and start slow and easy, there is a lot of sushi that is cooked, if it isn't it will tell you, there is also a lot of sushi that is vegetable or chicken instead of fish. Just so you are aware. :) CA rolls are one of my favorites, it is made with crab (no roe around here unless you add it and I love roe too lol) so it does have seafood, even the imitation is seafood. There will be good teriyaki on the menu though and if you're worried about the sauces just ask for them on the side. Chicken Katsu is really good, breaded and fried and served with a good sauce, around here you can get all the sauces on the side without question. I do that sometimes because I try to cut back on the sauces because they can be high in sodium and calories. lol I've been known to ask for Chicken Katsu and get teriyaki and Katsu sauce on the side. ;) The soup is generally a Miso Soup around here, has some tofu and green onions in it and I love it, there will also be appetizers, egg rolls or spring rolls, pot stickers, and salads, you'll find plenty of choices. Our Japanese restaurants don't put forks on the table but I've never had a problem asking for one, I have never really been able to master chop sticks, my BFF is Japanese (born in Japan and immigrated when she was a baby) and she teases me all the time. lol She's constantly telling me that she's going to wrap a rubber band around a pair and make me practice until I figure it out. lol You'll enjoy your meal, I have no doubt.
I really like both of those dresses, both are just really pretty! :) I'd go with the blue one with a sweater as well and yes, if there was snow and ice I'd be sporting either boots or flats. LOL I think you have chosen well.
Just relax and be yourself, don't stress over your outfit or how to act, he's asked you out so he already likes you. I think you're good to go! :) Have fun, that's what counts.

Alright my darlings...here is the red dress, including the robot necklace!

Here is what we shall now call The Librarian outfit.

I really like this look, but it is slightly uncomfortable...it is okay for an hour at church, but not sure I can stand much more than that. But, it looks great!

And, then, I do have this little cardigan, but not sure what to pair it with...other than a jean jumper...which...just no.

The Land's End dress looks cute and comfortable, but still put together.

The red dress does not need a necklace with the beading on top, just maybe dangly earrings and a bracelet.

I'm not a fan of horizontal stripes on anyone, so I would rule that dress out. :)

Relax and have fun!

Ok, just my opinion:

I don't think the robot goes with the red dress, but I love the last cardigan and it would look cute with a white top (tshirt type) under it with the robot and maybe dark jeans or...?

I think the cut of the green dress is way too dressy for those plaid shoes. I also think the brown cardigan is too casual for the dress, but maybe it looks better on?

Wouldn't wear those red shoes with the red dress, either, but I think they would look good with the aforementioned cardigan and robot outfit. :)
