Shouldn't the title of this thread be:
Podcast Cruise 2.0 Discussion Thread 3?

I think Kevin must have been in a hurry to post the new thread.

I remember I was posting and then POOF! the thread I posted on was gone.
Wonder if anyone read my last post... :confused3

I'd like to finish planning one trip before planning the next.

BBQ in Chicago.
Muddy Buddy in Chicago.
Camping in Wisconsin.
Hershey Meet in Pennsylvania.
Labor Day.
Perry Sound, ONT (family trip)
Wine and Dine Half Marathon.

And its all capped off by eleven wonderful days in WDW and aboard the Wonder with some great friends.

Maybe if I don't take any other vacations, I could afford the next ABD/DIS adventure.....:scratchin

When is the Chicago Muddy Buddy? I do believe my brother is doing it this year! maybe I will have to come and watch!!

I am very, very proud of James for getting his degree. However, he has no plans of ever changing his job, and his degree is not going to help him one bit with his current job. He is getting a degree as a "back-up". You never know what might happen in life. And, so he figures he can't make his kids go to college if he didn't.

You should be proud of him, and he should be proud of himself! Even though he has plans not to change careers, you never know what the future will hold. It's a huge accomplishment, especially while working full time.

Vinny is a little different in that he is able to retire in 5 years and receive a pension from the police department. However, in 5 years, he will be 42 years old and will have children that will be going into college soon, so he has to start a second career. He is getting a degree in accounting, and ultimatley become a CPA. He was one of those kids in high school that had no interest in going to college, and therefore we are paying for it (literally) now. It's also a huge opportunity to show my kids the importance of going to college after high school. I just hope I can pay for my kids school, although with way tuition is going, I'm not sure that is going to happen.

Dear Toddles:

I am thrilled to see both Hershey and Indy/Labor Day on your list! I hope those both work out! It would be so fun to see you twice in a 3 week period! :goodvibes

As for the DIS Dads working on/starting/finishing their degrees, what a wonderful way to set an example for your children!

My dad worked as an inspector in a GM-owned local factory (Detroit Diesel Allison) for 40 years. The summer between my sophomore and junior years in college, he got me a summer job there, supposedly so I could earn enough to cash to finally buy myself a car. However, there was more method to his madness. He wanted me to experience the dirty, difficult, second shift life of a gear cutter (yes, seriously, I was a gear cutter for 2-1/2 months) to reinforce the importance of completing my education. At the end of that summer, I had a car to drive back to college, a new found respect for my hard-working dad:lovestruc, and a definite new sense of motivation to do as well as possible in college because I knew that, personally, I never wanted to have to do that type of work again.

Good Morning everyone! I hope you enjoy your weekend.

My list is not as long as Todd's

BBQ in Chicago
Labor Day weekend DVC Style
Birmingham AL for Conference
17 Day WDW/PCC 2.0 Trip in December.

Did anyone else see the mistake on the Disney Blog today?

Did you know that the Dreams Tower (formally named the Sierra Tower) was Orange County’s first high-rise when it opened in 1960? Or that the Disneyland Hotel, built in 1955, was owned by the Wrather Corporation until it was officially acquired by the Walt Disney Company in 1988?

I think they meant to say "formerly" ... not formally. :happytv:

Happy Sunday Everyone!

DH and I just got back from a night away at Childress Vineyards in Lexington, NC. We had a wonderful time...tasting wines and touring the vineyard then dinner....steak stuffed with lump crab and spinach with a baked sweet potato...YUMMMMM! And to top it off when I got home Mom had cleaned the house!!!!

Hope everyone else has had or is having a good weekend too.

Off to catch up on the posts.

Totally off topic here, but my wonderful city is under seige.
It was a sad day for us.
I don't know how much of this you see down there, as I know U.S news stations rarely talk about Canada, unless it's something we do that directly affects you. :lmao:

Although I am in the suburbs now, I grew up in Toronto.
I just don't understand some people these days.

It has been on the news a lot here, but since we are so close to the border that's understandable.
We have been having travel alert announcements for weeks now.
Looked like the police and security was stepped up today. Hope things are better

Not as much violence as yesterday, but they are currently holding about 200-300 people in the pouring rain, some handcuffed, some not, without shelter, for the last 3-4 hours while they "investigate" them.
They have them corraled by Riot squad officers in a square area in the middle of an intersection.
Most were just walking at the time, as there were no real protests going on, some have their dogs with them.
They were even arresting media members.
No bathrooms, no water (other than the rain), no explanation of why they are being detained.
One person in the crowd has been on a cell phone to the 24 hour news media here (CP24) for quite a while giving updates (Sammy Katz).
He met with the Prime Minister a few days ago (they showed a pic of them shaking hands) as he was a photographer there for the G20, so he is obviously a risk. :lmao:
Some are volounteering to be arrested to just get out of the rain and get warm.
Very few are dressed for the rain, most in t-shirts as it was very warm here today.
I see Human Rights Violations lawsuits in the near future.
This seems to be too little too late, to me.
The summit is over. :confused3

ETA...as I finish this, they just let everyone that was still left there go en masse, no explanation of why.

Crikey, it seems with these things they never expect any trouble and then when there is some they go too far and do it too late :confused3

Good morning everyone, hope you all had a nice weekend. I'm not seeing many England flags flying anymore! Shame about the disallowed goal but then it wouldn't have made any difference  Oh well, we now have Wimbeldon I guess :confused3

So the person interested in buying my car came over and she's picking it up next weekend :woohoo: Got a bit of spending money now for December and will save quite a lot not having to service the car, get an MOT (it has to pass the MOT each year for emissions, certain parts of the car like winscreen, axels, tires etc. to ensure it's road worthy) and then pay the road tax for another year. DH has been getting lifts to/from work so I can use his car :woohoo: :woohoo:

Have a good day

Happy Monday All!!!!!

Surely going to be one of little work for me. Catching up on the boards from the weekend, couple with people popping into my office continually today. "Where's your mom?" Happens anytime one of us takes the day off.:confused3

Happy Million Mile Monday! :vroom: :vroom:

Happy Monday, everyone!
So much heavy rain, no outside morning walk for me. Hello mini Wii me! Havne't seen her in a while.

Hard to believe that six months from now our cruise and festivities will be all over.

Just realized...
Sometime this weekend I posted my 4,000th post! :cool1:
